Yes I can sense your excitement on going back to the Contemporary.

For us this past summer was like fulfilling a childhood dream going and staying there.

Even as adults it took us 4 times at the Wilderness lodge, and 6 at the Grand Floridian, until we finally tried the Contemporary this summer.

Now mind you each resort holds something special that we look forward too.

BUT

This summer the friendliness of the staff --- the nice walk to Magic Kingdom---the pools---the monorail experience----the dining experiences---
Sold us.
IT WAS AN AWESOME TIME.

We only experienced on minor bug, but that was on check out.

Were sold and are booking again for next October.

Enjoy, we did

We leave tomorrow and arrive Sunday for our second BLT stay. So excited!

Dishwasher and laundry soap - are they still replenished if we ask? Just wondering if we should bring a couple with us.

TIA!
Dish soap, probably. Laundry detergent only on your service days (every four days if using DVC points or booking on cash through DVC).

After asking for advice and changing my mind about 20 times, we finally decided to change our entire stay to CR (we were originally going to split with AoA). We changed to GW to keep it under budget. I'm hoping I don't regret that, but we've never stayed in the Tower so I don't think the kids will know the difference anyway.

Myself, DH, DS10, DS2, DS2 will be there November 25 - December 2. Let the countdown begin!

I wouldn't worry at all about regretting your decision! With five of you, you'll appreciate the extra space the CR room will provide. I've personally never stayed in the GW, but from everything I've read people really like them. Hope you have a great trip!

We stayed in the South Wing, when there was still a North Wing (where BLT is now located) and thought it was great. No wait for an elevator because one flight of stairs was easy. And it was only about four minutes from the monorail or bus stop.

The GW is nice, we liked our stay there. It's nice and quiet but just a minutes walk to the Tower. We had a pretty room, the view was lovely.

Thank you for saying that! Some of the things I've read could have had me convinced that we'd have an unbearable amount of extra walking to the Tower. That was my main hesitation in changing to GW, so I'm glad to hear that hopefully won't be the case. I am considering requesting a room close to the Tower, but with a double stroller, I think requesting a first floor room will take priority.

Here's a plethora of photos of the Contemporary Resort's construction in 1970 & 1971:

Totally cool, thanks for sharing!!

It always fascinates me to think back to that time... with CR, Poly, MK, the monorail, etc all under construction. The fact that any of it ever got started (and finished) is truly amazing for the time.

We are wrapping up an epic Disney vacation here at BLT now! It's been a fantastic week ~ if Christmas weren't in six days, we'd all have that Sunday-the night-before-school-starts feeling right now!

Question we have all been asking while here (via my uncle's DVC kindness- we are not DVC members, so we're not sure how many weeks you earn, etc.)... WHO is here long enough to put up Christmas decorations like a full sized, decorated tree and lights on the OUTSIDE of a BLT window?? Around the 5th or 6th floor, coming in from the parking lot??? My kids want to BE those people when they grow up and LIVE AT DISNEY! Ha!

Does anyone know??

I don't know who that might be, but I am pretty sure that we saw that same tree while we were at CR Nov. 28 through Dec 9 and we thought the same exact thing!

Well now I know what I wanna do when I grow up :P

I asked one of the concierges, and he said it's not uncommon for people to either bring a tree from home (who has room!??), or go to Walmart or Target and get one when they arrive, OR have Disney Floral get a fresh one AND decorate it for them ($$$$$$)! As for me? I'm flying home to my tree tonight... glad I didn't have to take one down this morning!!

I'm staying at the contemporary for a long weekend in April, I think I stayed there when I was around 5 or 6- that would've been 27 years ago or so.

Really looking forward to being so close to MK with my then soon to be 4-year-old daughter, being able to walk over and take a quick nap will make a huge difference and at her age, we spend most of our time at MK.

My husband, son, and I will be staying at CR this July, it will be our first stay there. I’m wondering what the bus situation is like from CR to AKL and HS? Just trying to be prepared and factor it into our plans. Thanks in advance :-)

We were there a few weeks ago and we had no problem with bus service to HS and DS. But on the days that we were going to HS and DS everyone waiting on the benches for those buses, but there was a standing line for AK

Just wanted to share a recommendation for folks staying at the CR. On our last night of a 12 day stay we were pooped out and headed back to the room early and had no dinner plans. DW didn't want to leave the room and was hankering some traditional pizza (not the flatbread from Contempo Café). Someone let us know that you can order pizza through room service. We called and ordered a pepperoni and mushroom and they told us that it would be 45 minutes or less. We figured that wasn't too bad since it was a MVMCP that night and traffic around CR was heavy so we figured Papa John's would have taken at least an hour. Only 25 minutes later a piping hot pizza was delivered to our door and it was delicious. So, if you need a quick, easy meal in your room, ask for a pizza (we were so impressed with the speed of delivery and the taste that we called in-room dining back just to thank them!)

:o

This question has been debated many times. You will hear many opinions. In the past we have had to wait for buses about 45 min or had to wait for a second bus because the first one was full and I have seen many people complain on here about the same thing. Since CR is the second resort the buses stop at I would plan to have to wait for transportation to AK, HS or DS. We had to rent a car for a different reason and just had it for the week we were at Disney this past December at CR. It was very convenient to get to the parks without using the buses. A lot of people use Uber or Lyft. Some people say they have no problems with the bus transportation and love it. Have a great time no matter what you decide. May you have pixie dust and not have to wait for buses.

Do they still pipe in the music on the TV? See that 105 is showing ESPN stuff now
