We will be back at BLT July 2 - July 5th! Two bedroom theme park view. Looking forward to watching the fireworks from our villa! Then we go on the Disney Dream followed by a stay in a Polynesian Bungalow. Should be a fun summer vacation!

Happy New Year to all!

What an amazing summer vacation! I'll log your BLT dates:)

Hi! I think I know the answer to this question, but I'm hoping someone who has stayed at BLT recently can confirm - do the 1 bedroom villas still have a washer and dryer? I was looking at the room amenities list on the Disney website and they had the kitchen, microwave, etc. listed but not the washer and dryer, which I thought was odd. We stayed there last February and our room had the washer and dryer, so I'm just hoping they haven't made a change in the meantime. Thanks!

Nothing has changed, your washer/dryer is still there!

Thanks! I just thought that was really weird that they wouldn't list the washer and dryer among the amenities, because it's such a huge one for us!

Depending on whether you are inside the C or outside the C, your laundry room configuration will be different. Both have stackables, but outside the C, they will be in a small closet. Inside the C, they will be in a laundry room/closet in your villa. Your kitchens might be slightly different as well.

Could you add us to the list: we'll be at the Garden Wing from 3/11-18!

Also, does anyone know what time the outdoor movies are in March, generally?

ETA: also the campfire time in March? Thanks!

We just booked our first CR stay! I'm excited to try a deluxe that is new to us. We are visiting 3/11-3/18. I jumped at the price and booked a GW room. I now realize it is a standard view, I didn't realize GW had different views. Lol, I assumed all were "garden"! Anyways, any recommendations on a room request that won't be terrible? Maybe I can upgrade views at check in. It's Disney though and happy I get to stay at the CR :)

My Standard view Room request would be a 3rd floor room: Room number range: 5361-5352 sequential numbered rooms. Room 5352 is one room from the far end of the hallway and as the room numbers increase, the closer you would be to the Main Tower. You directly overlook the parking lot but you can see the Express and the Resort Monorail beams and the Monorails gliding by at what would be the 4th floor level. There are some trees near the building that may obstruct your full view.

Note: There are no balconies on the Garden Wing. 1st floor rooms has a patio with 2 chairs and a small side table. The 2nd and 3rd floor rooms have a slider the opens part way for air but a railing is directly next to the door.

Last April I stayed at the CR with my son in a TPV tower room. Next February, my family wants to join us so I am looking at BLT for the 2 BR villa. I don't care so much about the view we have - I care most about ensuring there are two queen beds in the second bedroom vs. one queen bed and a sleeper sofa. Is there something special I need to ask for when I put my request in? Is now too soon to put the request in for February 2018?

You want a dedicated 2br!!

Are you planning on Renting points, trying to make Cash reservation, or using your own Points? You really want a dedicated 2br in your reservation or your only request or first request.

Otherwise, you might get a 2br lock-off which is a 1br and a Studio which results in the Queen / Sleeper Sofa in the "Second" bedroom.

Thanks for the room tip! I was planning on renting points to hopefully save some money. Do you know if I will be able to request a "dedicated" room?

Yes you can make room requests but not directly to Disney. Any request(s) will have to be submitted the owner that you rent points from for your stay. Note that "Owners" whose home resort is BLT will have the first chance to reserve any units at BLT at 11 months so it might be a little tricky. However Feb is not the busiest time for DVC but it is getting busier it seems now almost all year.

What part of Feb are you looking at, some weeks are very busy like President's week and the last week of Feb depending on when Spring school breaks / Easter hit on the calendar.

Note: DVC units are designed to have greater occupancy rates all year vs normal resorts.

"Dedicated two bedroom" is a booking category made at the time the DVC member makes the reservation.

I am hoping you find all of this as funny as I did.

I have been talking about going to WDW with our son for close to a year now. (Not a lot, because my husband hates making plans far in advance, but enough so that he knows that this isn't going away.) We talked quite a bit when I made our placeholder reservation at 499 days out, and he was aghast at how much this would cost, especially after he talked to some of his co-workers. Now I agree that Disney is expensive, and I know that we could save a lot of money if we stay off property, and if we only go for 4 days, but I have been wanting to stay at the CR since I saw it in 1972! And since I will be saving up and paying for this, I don't want to switch to something else, unless an emergency comes up.

So a couple of days ago, DH asks me, "So where are we booked? At the animal park?"
So I told him that we are going to the Contemporary, and explained that it was the A frame hotel that was one of the original hotels on the property.
"Wait, I remember something like that. Is that the one that the monorail runs thru?" Well yes it does. That's one of the benefits of staying there.
"But if it goes through and doesn't stop, what's the point?"
So I explained that there are 2 tracks, one an express from the TTC (and I had to explain what that was), and the other that stops at the 3 hotels around the lake.
"So we can go downstairs and get on a monorail without going outside? Why would anyone stay anywhere else?"
I have no idea. ;)

That is great!

FYI if anyone is in the garden wing now or the next couple of days. We're checking out of room 6319 today and we have no hot water this morning. I've called and they say they are sending engineering to the building. Obviously since I just got up and it's 40 degrees outside, I'm not going to the front desk. You may want to ask if the problem is fixed.
