Hi everyone
I am a junior in high school and im a huge disney fan! and i have been looking at Disney's College Program and im wondering what its all about and how it works? I figured this would be the place to ask. So I would love to hear your thoughts about it! Thanks:thumbsup2

Hi Court24, the college program is an amazing experience and wonderful opportunity for college students. You partcipate in the program for either a 4 or 6 month semester, and meet people from all over the world. You will be assigned a role (job) and you can play in the disney parks on your time off. For more detailed information you can log on disneycollegeprorgam.com to learn more about this exciting program.I am sure that other members of the dis will respond with their own experiences and information. I worked in merchandise in the Magic Kingdom on my coleege program. And I worked in Entertainment on my Professional Internship. Hope I helped:-)

Hi there. The College Program is a paying internship between Walt Disney World and many colleges/universities. There are different lengths for the CP, the Spring/Fall Program and the Spring/Fall Advantage program. The regular program is just the length of a semester, while the advantage prgram is a semester plus the summer. Disney was just applying for the Spring/Spring Advantage 2008 CP. Late Jan/early Feb they will start applying for the Fall 2008 programs. There are a lot of different roles to pick from. There is also housing and buses for CPs. You can find more info at www.wdwcollegeprogram.com.

I have done the college program 3 times myself. I have had many good experiences down in FL, and hope to go FT at Disney once I graduate (hopefully next Dec).

This is OT, but wendy darling- it says in your sig Disney Broadway 2008. What does that mean (if you don't mind my asking).

Hmm, that's true.

And I am too! I am planning on seeing Lion King, Mary Poppins, and Little Mermaid.

Interesting, I graduate next December and am going back as either CP or PI and hope to pursue a carear(hehe) with disney. I only did one program, but I extended it so technically I did 2

To answer the OP, everyone else has pretty much said it all. If you're still in High school there are a couple options for you. In some areas Disney will recruit right out of high school for the career start program. Otherwise you can wait until you've gone through one semester of college and apply during that first semester. The only requirement is that you're in college when you apply.

Check out the website and if you have any other questions feel free to PM me or any of us really. We all LOVE talking about our program
Also check out the CP questions thread that is stickied at the top of the forums

To answer your question, I was trying to condense my signature, it just means I am going to see Mary Poppins and Little mermaid at some point in 2008;)

Sounds like there will be a segment soon on the podcast...they had a voice mail suggestion on the Dec 18 email show.

I am a proud alum of the 1995 college program and it is one of the best things I have ever done in my professional life. I think it really gave me some huge advantages in my career as I am in retail management and learned lots in my role as a merchandise hostess in the MK. I still use many of the ideas and concepts learned during WDWCP in my business every single day.

It is a great program and I am sure you will hear lots of feedback here.

Ah, I see. I hope to see those 2 shows (as well as Lion King) some point in the future.

Don't mean to hijack the thead..but was wondering about this program as well. My daughter is in college currently she will have her Associates degree in early childhood education in May. She is hoping to transfer for the fall semester to a four year school in our area.(although she may have to take a semester off..that's another post)..in any case, she is a HUGE Disney World fan. I was wondering are there programs that pertain to child care in the Disney College program? Do you have to be studying retail management or food/hotel restaurant management to benefit from the program. Is anyone ever placed in any of the resort child care facilities?

You don't have to have a specific major to do the CP. But unfortunately CPs can not do the child care programs at the resorts.
