Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

So based on the great reviews, I booked GDT CL but I didn't tell my DH, I usually need to ease him into things. Like step 1, we should go to WDW.....which hadn't been done yet. So imagine his surprise when GDT CL staff called the day after I booked and left him a message saying, we are just calling to see if there's anything we can assist you with for your upcoming stay. He's like, um, so when where you going to tell me we were going to Disney? (He wasn't mad, just super confused) .... so note to self, GDT CL staff is on it, they wasted no time in reaching out, like less than 24 hours! Also, change the phone number on my account.

I'm considering booking it for Labor Day weekend, if I'm able to get my AP back. The Visa discount is downright absurd and it seems like an optimal time to try out the CL product to see if it works for us.

Im having a comically bad trip so don’t have the energy to search but do have a quick question: do CL concierge staff get tipped? Thanks!

Sorry it’s a rough trip. I hope it turns around for you!

Not sure what others do, but we have never tipped (other than once making a donation in their honor and bringing a small gift from home. But that is a whole different story)

I offer tips when service is great, I feel better for offering even if they decline.

Came back to add :many do not so do not worry that you need to. Whatever is comfortable for you. Also when you experience many declining you will learn you don‘t need to.

We brought a local treat as well, only once when we first started doing CL. We have not tipped since then.

at all CLs, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, coconut patties, and cookies; its too bad they do not make the large size boxes of the sweets anymore, so we just buy more of the small ones and bars; a bunch for the desk CL CMs and a bunch for the lounge CL CMs, and at the BWI, personal disney items for Lene and family( lene's fav is donald and her daughters fav is marie from aristocats which is tough one but we always find somethings);

PS wish me luck - this morning is my 30 days out for renewing my DAS and choosing advance ones;

edited to add: had the magic online today - got right in, re-registered, and got all the advance DAS at the times we wanted;

Hope things are improving for you!

We have never tipped, tbh we have never asked for or received anything “above and beyond” while staying CL, but now I’m feeling like I should bring a big box of See’s for the CMs on my next trip 😂!! They do work their tails off!

Question, specific to YC: Do they put away evening appetizers promptly at 7:00? We have a flight arriving at 6:00, and if things go perfectly, I feel like we could make it for evening appetizers, so long as we are able to fix plates right at 7:00. Part of the draw of club level for this one night stay would be not having to make a dinner reservation and having food available upon arrival.

When we were there in November, they started cleaning up right at the closing time. If you are checking bags that you have to pick up - I don't think there is any way you could land at 6, get your bags, get your transportation to the resort, and be upstairs eating in the lounge in less than an hour.

Yes. They will start pulling the food at 7:00. If you’re in there and actively eating, they won’t kick you out, but they *may* let you know they need to get ready for the dessert service and ask you to finish up since they normally close the doors and reopen them. There’s only the hour between the two services, so I don’t know how often (or if) they allow guest to linger or if they need to hustle people out in order to be ready. YC is self contained behind doors they lock between services and doesn’t have places for guests to sit while they prepare the food trays.

I have never personally been in the room at exactly 7, but as far as I know, they pretty much stick to the times. They have to get everything out, put away, clean the serving areas & get set up for the next food service. If you’re landing at 6, I don’t see a way to make it before service ends at 7. The absolute quickest we’ve ever made it to the resort was 55 min after landing. That was years ago in September, a slow time of year. There are so many delays with travel now. Our flight down last Wednesday was delayed over an hour because the weather in Chicago delayed the plane 2 cities before it flew our route. Yesterday on the way home, they changed our plane, so had to get a different crew that didn’t even land in MCO until after we were supposed to take off. They announced we would be delayed about a half hour, it ended up being an hour. It sometimes takes 5 or more minutes for the plane to just taxi to the gate after landing. Those things are all out of your control & you wouldn’t even know until you’re in it. I would find it really stressful if I was hoping to make appetizers but found myself sitting delayed before takeoff or sitting in traffic. Personally I wouldn’t plan on making it before 7. I wouldn’t do CL if getting there for them was the reason to book it.

Thank you! I do have an issue with being overly optimistic. :) I agree that it is a longshot to make it to evening appetizers. Will likely stick with our garden view room for a lot less and just hit Cape May Buffet for dinner when we arrive. If only there were a flight scheduled an hour earlier.... oh well.

Thank you for your response. I agree, and any little thing could put us off even further.

If you don't want a dinner as big as Cape May, Ale & Compass has a really nice dinner also.

You won’t make it in time, however, Crew Cup, Martha Vineyard and Ale and Compass (not restaurant) all have nice lounge areas wheee you can get apps and a drink then go up to the club for desert and cordials including making your own coffee with the cordials.
