Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Yes, it was at 34 days out when they called. We had a boardwalk view CL room and had to be moved to a standard water view room. But, they did give us a big price reduction from what we were originally paying.
As well they should adjust the price. You paid for CL...you're not getting CL...you will like the water view room though:).

Thanks for the info

Long story short (and I’m sorry if you already know all of this) - traditionally Disney suites are CL access. Later last summer a bit after reopening, Disney decided to make the suites across all the resorts bookable but “took them out of the CL category” since at the time there was no clarity on the return of CL. Note the rates did not change.

So fast forward to now where we have reopening dates for some CLs, we’re in the somewhat weird situation where several of us like yourself have suite reservations for a date for after CL reopens, but the reservation detail still doesn’t say CL.

I’m assuming that’s more Disney website/booking technology related more than anything - I’m guessing their system isn’t programmed/set up to have a bookable room category for some dates that are CL and some that aren’t, so they’ve just left it alone for the moment.

Plus there’s no physical way a suite guest in the main building could be excluded from CL services anyway, and it would make very little sense (in my opinion) for Disney to even attempt as such.

Sorry for the long winded answer - hope that helps!
Thanks for the explanation. I did not know all the details behind the CL reclassification in 2020. I had my mind focused on 2022 when it came to Disney. That does ease my mind. I’ll keep my fingers crossed and move onto the next phase of my planning.

Which club level hotels give you bottled water that you can take into parks?
Absolutely don’t count on that. Even the ones that had it can be hit or miss. For instance when I was at Poly a few years back they had them- but they put two flats in the fridge in the morning and people descended upon them like it was life saving water in the desert and there were no more put out 🤦🏻‍♀️ CSR had them and they kept them in stock. WL had mini ones. BC had none.

Plan for your own water bottles for your sanity’s sake.

Speaking of water, I had to laugh this past weekend when I twice saw guests filling their own water bottles from the ice water thing they put out during the day in the YC lobby. Reminded me of various discussions on the topic about that in CL around here over the years.

I am generally not into guest shaming and think it’s usually best to mind my own business, but that’s one thing I just can’t understand why people think it’s OK.

Kilimanjaro Club has a similar dispenser, kept near the elevators but I've never seen anyone filling bottles from it. Might be becuase the CL is out of the way for most guests.

I had asked at the desk if that water was filtered as my daughter is very sensitive to the normal FL water and the answer was no. It only had ice and a added to it. For us bottled water is a must do, and only certain brands are trusted.

I once expressed disappointment at checkin that there was no bottled water available in the lounge and the CM gave me a $50 voucher pirate: This was pre Chapek and prepandemic. Can't see that happening ever again.

And the time I got a suite upgrade at Poly I asked for extra water bottles and they delivered a case to my room. Can't see that happening again either :smickey: Good times!

One time, I asked for that adult Poly juice and she brought me out a carafe and said 'take it to your room, it's extra'. wow I am remembering all this good magic. Maybe I will have to keep paying the outrageous prices 😆

In a way, you have summarized why I keep going (tho always with a discount and that "Disney math" we mention often)...the fact that there's always a chance of the "pixie dust" some of us have been lucky enough to experience.

My daughter cannot tolerate the Florida tap water, won't go into details but drinking just a bit even if in the soda mixed by dispensers at the food courts can ruin her day and then we miss our reservations.

Years ago, on our first Disney CL stay, we had recently experienced Royal Pacific's CL where they made it known they had bottled water, we just needed to ask. So on check in at AKL I asked about it and was told no, they don't offer that or everyone would grab it up. I delicately explained that my daughter could not partake in wine, beer, didn't drink soda and could not drink anything except the juice offered and he rolled his eyes and said "Fine, I'll keep a pack at the desk, but you have to ask." I wasn't asking for the world, and I would have accepted a no, but he was very rude about it.

Came back later and they desk never did get any water. That's when I learned not to depend on CL to offer up anything. Just enjoy what is out and order up a case or two of water for the room.

Yes, we usually get it from the gift shop. You get 20% off with an AP, too. So about $4 for an 8 pack.

I saw a kid mouth-to-spout drink out of that thing at YC on my last trip there and I was like "ok, yeah, no I'm not drinking out of that....." They had not had it out on my previous trip a few months prior so I was like "yay! Water!" and then I was like "ewwwwww......no water....."

I can't even brush my teeth with it, and have learned from enough CL stays at WDW to know that each CL operates completely different from the rest so not to expect it. Like SL was much more reliable with bottles than RPC (people hoarded the water at RPC, I always saw people come by and grab half the bottles out and run, and they wouldn't restock), BWI had the reusable/refillable caraffes of water but no plastic bottles, and all the rest were so hit and miss I just started either bringing my own if I drove or ordering some. AKL CL was the most frustrating with the water though, the only water they had out was the little water with the fruit in it by the elevator with the little cups, it was frustrating.

For those that haven't seen the news, the PO resorts open in mid/late October. That's a boat load of rather popular rooms about to be available for the fall that I'm assuming is enough to create some availabilities at other resorts (mainly deluxes) as people move things around. Good time to re-check reservations/availability as things shake out.

Still waiting for them to randomly make Poly CL bookable for the Fall. Have to imagine they are just waiting to finish this refurb before officially opening it up..

We are also dangerously close to when Disney historically releases discounts for Fall/Winter… so a lot to look out for

What type of discounts are usually given for fall/winter? If we have a current reservation for fall, im hoping it will be easier to modify our reservation to get a better deal.

I have been talking to a TA to see if they had more inside information into GF CL availability given they have more contacts and more frequent communication with the reservation team at Disney. She was able to confirm that our Main Building Suite reservation in October 2022 is "eligible" for CL but it would have to be specifically booked under that designation. So I am keeping an eye out given that PO is opening this fall that our reservation can updated to show CL. Hoping the dam is beginning to crack and things will get back to "normal" (or as normal as we can hope for in these days.

It's always super easy to modify a reservation to get a better deal, I've modified mine countless times for my upcoming solo trip (between changing dates, resort, dates and resort, and then changing from GP discount to AP discount this past week easily online).

I'm just hoping there are discounts, they were so low for late summer, and bookings are up so far in Ocotober and beyond for the 50th, I feel like they're not going to feel like they have to give much of one at this point. I almost think they'll test the waters and see if they can hold off to see if people start to cancel, and possibly do last minute discounts like they did for the AP and florida resident ones they released for August to fill those rooms that just aren't booking. I have a feeling Poly CL really won't open until they get everything done, they won't want to be offering all their top tier services until they've got it all complete.
