Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Back on my favourite thread to vent a bit along with the rest of you Summer trippers! I guess Disney has pulled the plug on our annual week-long AKL club end of school trip where it’s just me and DS. Selfishly, I am saddened by the fact that we have a very finite number of these trips left that we can do before he goes off to school, no longer wants to travel with his mom, etc. I feel bad for feeling bad because I know that this situation has hurt many people in far worse ways...but I know that me feeling sad about my situation doesn’t change that, so I’m letting myself wallow .

I wish I could rebook, but this is a DVC stay and the club studios are pretty much the hardest ones in the system to get, so there will be zero movement on those.

An interesting fact about CSR- I scored a consolation prize today with 25% off the GDT Club Standard room for three nights. I half heartedly booked a cobbled-together-multiple-resorts trip for later in July, but I’m not sure we will be able to make it work for many reasons. Anyways, long story short- if you wanted CSR, it looks like they’ve opened it back up!

There was a report someone saw a suite pop up at CSR a day or two back. I saw a couple suites playing with dates in July but that was it. Yours is the first report I’ve seen of someone snagging a “normal” CSR room since they blocked the resort so congrats!!

Do you not think that need to enforce social distancing in the club lounges? Restaurants opening now in Disney Springs need to operate at 25% capacity, which I assume will then move to 50%, etc. If the club lounges follow the same rules, then if they currently hold 16 tables, lets say for example, then 12 tables need to go to start. Good luck finding a table under those circumstances. Expect club level staff being reduced accordingly, so service levels will drop. Then again, if club level reservations drop dramatically because people don't want to pay a premium price for less than premium amenities, then you might find a table where you can enjoy whatever kind of food they might be serving.

I believe FL moves to 75% restaurant capacity in the next phase.

I dropped GDT CL Standard this morning - my dates were July 23-27. They were sold out even before GDT CL was blocked off. Maybe you picked it up? If so, it would make me happy that it went to a fellow DISBoarder.

That’s what I’m wondering too, if people are picking up what’s being dropped because Disney IT didn’t quite do a clean job of making sure that doesn’t happen on these harder to get rooms at CSR.

Are you saying you are willing to pay club levels room prices, and also happy to pay for the inflated room service menu prices, an 18% gratuity, plus a delivery charge?

I would if I wanted to avoid the crowds at a quick serve, yep I would pay it. I would pay it if I wanted it, that doesn't mean "I'm happy" to pay that much. Obviously many people feel there is value in it because it exists. Lately I find myself paying for a lot of things I never thought. I ordered UberEats for my kids last night. Delivery fee, another fee and then 25% tip. Grocery delivery, at least 25% tip. All things that now have a greater value then before. So more then likely, yes I would pay those prices. My opinion may change as the world around me changes but those are my thoughts at the moment .

There is no need for such an aggressive tone. We're simply discussing our choices and thoughts about club level on this thread. We can all do that calmly and peacefully.

Club level food doesn't have to be eaten in the lounge- we've taken it back to our room a number of times. We also don't know what form club level food offerings will take. Will room service be substituted for the lounge? There is no way to know that, or what the situation will be with restaurants upon WDW's reopening.

What I do know is that club level guests get extra perks & privileges here and there, and as the reopening might involve a fair number of cutbacks and restrictions, I'll welcome any advantage I can get upon reopening. There could possibly be advantages with rides, just as club level used to be able to purchase extra FPs. There might not be, but it's possible. No one but Disney knows anything at this point.

While I don't think most of the things you mention are going to happen, I don't know it won't either. It's why we're keeping our CL reservation and backing it up with another reservation. It's not that we're saving money by staying at the Riviera instead, we're not. It costs more. But it has amenities CL does not. So we wait and see what happens, then keep whichever reservation makes the most sense with what we know. I just hope Disney makes it clear upon re-opening what exactly CL will be. Had they planned a June 1 opening, we would have been 3 weeks in with lots of first hand reports. Now, if they open July 1, we'll be in the first wave of guests and I really don't like being the guinea pig. lol

If the only way I could go was at a reduced CL, I'd be right there with you! As it is, so far at least, because nothing is out of the realm of possibility, CL isn't required to go. I don't even ask that they give me a brown bag- we'd fix our own in our kitchen! And in the end, who needs to eat anyway? Just give me some water and I can make it a week without food. Just open the doors...that's all I'm asking.

I should add, I do suspect those of us who stay CL in the early parts of an eventual reopening are probably in for some sort of jacked-up experience - just as the theme park and overall WDW experience is going to be materially impacted as well. It might not be pretty and there will surely need to be some guest flexibility.

We are generally OK with that and will approach it with an open mind. But I can understand why others would not, I totally get it.

Ha! I won't lie. In deciding where I may want to spend a week instead of GCT CL, room service was one of the factors I heavily considered. Twilight Feast and Sushi. My kids can eat that every day.

Haven’t been around here much lately, but I thought I’d stop by to wish all you great mother’s a wonderful Happy Mother’s Day tomorrow!!!

We will be busy as our middle son 17 is a 2020 grad and tomorrow we have things for that, our state has begun to open things a bit and the weather forecast is supposed to be fairly nice!

My view on staying club level has evolved over the past few days. At first, I wondered if it would be worthwhile given potential cuts to services. Now, hearing more about potential restrictions as the opening gets pushed closer to our dates, I'm thinking that club level might be something of a haven, a way to get food (however it's provided) without worries of the restaurant having long wait times or no available tables due to social distancing, or worrying about your ADR being cancelled due to reduced capacity. And club level guests might get preferential treatment for whatever privileges there are to be had upon reopening. Just a thought. We have a split stay that was half club level, but now I'm leaning towards making our whole stay club level.

I agree I think club level may have added benefits, they may add amenities so we'll feel like were getting our money's worth. I was thinking the same thing about ADR's too that we may get preferential treatment.

Ha! I won't lie. In deciding where I may want to spend a week instead of GCT CL, room service was one of the factors I heavily considered. Twilight Feast and Sushi. My kids can eat that every day.

I have a reservation at WL CL the second week of August (rescheduled from Spring Break). I was hoping things would have been open for a while before then. I'm already adjusting my expectations. I'll be happy if we can go and chill out and maybe get on a few rides at this point.
