Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

At the BWI right now. CMs are great as usual. Some new faces but all very cheerful and welcoming. Wine and beer has been self serve this first night. The 5-7 offerings consisted of beef barley soup, corn dog nuggets, pork sliders, assorted cheeses, and of course the veggies and pb&j roll ups.

Thanks for checking in and for the pics. Hope you're having a great time :wizard:.

Who's ready for a Disney trip?? THIS family! :yay::yay::yay: Lol...

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

Hi everyone! Just a couple of questions about checking in late. My son and I will be arriving at MCO at 9:20pm and taking the Magical Express to the GF. We normally always check in earlier in the day so I am not quite sure how this works in the evening staying CL. Will we still be met by a CL CM outside or at that time do you go to the front desk? Also, I just saw the MK hours for that night will be until 2am. :woohoo:Whoop! What time do you realistically think we would be at the MK?
Thanks so much for your responses.:thumbsup2

I'm pretty sure at ALL hotels the concierge service ends at 10pm, so they would not be greeting anyone out front. On the other hand, if you do online check-in, and get your magicbands, then you don't need to visit the desk at all. You'll be texted your room assignment, and you can go directly to the room. Otherwise, you go to front desk. You can also go directly to the park, with all your entitlements activated.

You'll likely need to check in at the main front desk or like PP says, do online and just go straight to your room. But definitely hit the CL desk the next day and get your welcome packet and anything else you need.

I assume from your other trips you know ME can be super effecient or painfully slow (at least in our experiences). Maybe pencil in 11ish to be at MK? This is an opinion I know your weren't asking for but we were enamored by the ME experience at first but kind of grew tired of it after a couple of trips ended up taking forever. We tend to use a car service now. By the time I get to MCO I start getting impatient and just want to be there already! Bad personality trait.

As for the post about WL, we had a short stay last December.

I agree with the poster who said the level of service guests get depends on a few different factors. I also think some folks simplify their posts for the sake of brevity. I've never seen a CM grab wine away from anyone, but previously, wine in all CL's was self-serve. Personally, it always seemed odd to me that CL CM's made no effort to card underage guests. That was a recipe for disaster.

So here's what we experienced at WL, half the old CL rooms were closed. I don't know about the lounge being hanged. The CM's didn't say anything to that effect. We talked to them a bit.

I've also never experienced rude CM's at WL. If anything, the CM's we've met at WL have been eager to talk to us. They've been happy to help and explain WDW.

I also have to say, on our most recent stay, the food at WL was very good. The one downside perhaps of WL, is that the lounge completely closes between offerings, as in the gates are locked. All CL's close at 10pm, but most allow guests a limited after-hours selection of drinks and whole fruit, at least until guests take it all.

For us, I'm not really bothered by most WDW construction. The main pool was open, and we had a nice view from our room. We could see trees/woods had been removed, but felt it actually improved our ability to see MK.

Call us crazy, but we think it is kind of exciting to see new WDW construction. As I've said elsewhere, I don't think cabins along the water are a good idea, but it is interesting to see what's being built before it is finished.

I think you mean Magic Express (ME).

Otherwise, I agree, though in our case, we prefer rental cars over a car service.

Cross-posting my post from the GF thread - thank you!

I'd love some CL opinions and I hope you won't mind me thinking out loud a bit.

I have my first solo trip booked for September. It's sort of a bucket list trip of places I've never tried. I have a 3-way split of 3 nights each booked at:

Tower Club (CR), BC (last Deluxe at which I've never stayed), and RPC.

I keep telling myself this trip is supposed to be one where I cross off my list some of the last CLs and a Deluxe I've not experienced. But, I'm having second thoughts and losing excitement over RPC and I'm wondering if I should try and switch to SL or even consider King Kamehameha LV instead. I stayed TPV last year at GF, but never CL, so either CL would be a first.

Based on recent reports, I'm starting to feel like I won't feel the level of service and ambience is worth paying 35% more than SL. Maybe I didn't really "need" to put it in my "have to stay there someday" list? For those of you who've stayed both RPC and SL, did you feel like RPC was worth 35% more?

I'm booked in an RPC Deluxe Queen and it seems the views are overlooking the pool area with the Poly beyond or overlooking the courtyard area. Is this correct? I'm not a fan of pool views and actually prefer a marina/monorail view over those views, which SL would have. My concern about SL is past reports that it's quite noisy there since the lobby lounge noise travels easily to the rooms. I've seen some really messy and crowded lounge photos that look unappealing, though I am going when crowds should be at their lowest. It doesn't look like a very "cozy" lounge with great views, but maybe that doesn't come out in photos?

I guess since RPC is the tippy-top CL, I keep questioning the value after reading negative reviews. I've also not tried King Kamehameha at Poly, but generally negative reviews, mostly about the CMs and room cleanliness, make me keep putting it off. I know this is only for 3 nights at the end of my 9-day trip, but I would appreciate some opinions:)

I've stayed solo CL at GF RPC, BC, WL and BWI. From a solo chill'axing point of view I preferred WL with the lounge ambiance at RPC a close second. I enjoyed BC for the Epcot location but found the CL experience a bit frenetic with the amount of CL guests, I also really enjoy BWI solo.

From your list my favourite solo CL experience was RPC, the lounge area is one of my favourites, I enjoyed sitting listening to the band playing below. The only negative I found were the CMs, not unfriendly but they gave me the impression they felt a little sorry for me on a solo trip (one even said that to me!), my partner was playing golf on a boy's only trip in Europe at the time, he found it amusing when I spoke to him on our daily telephone call lol. I haven't stayed SL but did consider it for my solo GF CL trip, however I went with the RPC as I felt having stayed RPC with friends years previously and therefore being familiar with the lounge and main building I would prefer it over the more 'cosy' feeling of the SL CL.

Of your three, Tower Club was our least favorite. Most of the tower rooms are suites, so there just isn't that many guests up there. Hard to explain, but we like Atrium level better. I should also mention, to be fair, we stayed pre-renovation. At the time, renovations were sorely needed.

IMO, if you are going solo, then your experience will be slightly different form many of mine. Here's why: CR and GF both have convention space, and therefore they are used to having many business travelers. I'm sure both lounges at GF see solo guests, but the outer lounge is much closer to the convention hall. If you are there solo, people will likely think you are a business guest.

Likewise, as a solo guest, you might welcome the intimacy of the Tower lounge. Business guests are also very common in that lounge as well, and they are set up to accommodate solo guests.

We love BC. As a solo guest, you might prefer one of the back areas. The front areas - as I recall - were all four top tables.

As for the two lounges at GF...kind of personal choice. As a solo guest, you might prefer the outer lounge. We never had any trouble with noise. With the main building CL, if the musicians are playing, it isn't quiet. Our room was very quiet, but the lounge isn't quiet. Also, at ALL the MK areas deluxes, more or less- you should just assume you'll hear the water parade very clearly every night. Though you'll get less of it at GF than some of the others.

Then again, as you more or less know...all the CL's have noise. I love BC, but on our last stay, I REALLY wanted to turn off the TV's! One of them was locked on the Home and Garden channel, with the volume too loud. The 2nd was on the WDW announcement page. That was okay at first, but every time we entered the lounge, we heard the SAME 2-3 songs over and over! The kid cartoons also tend to repeat way too much!

Though neither was quite as bad as the lounge at Universal's Hard Rock. I enjoy HR music in the afternoon or evening, but I REALLY don't want it blaring at me FIRST thing in the morning! And it was BLARING! (The other US lounges are much better in the morning, IMO.)

As a solo guests, you might like the TV's as a distraction. I'm not sure. For me, I'd do my best to escape TV at WDW, except maybe weather updates. (Mostly use my phone these days.) The nice thing about CR is that you can go on the balcony or at least look out the big windows.

....... The one downside perhaps of WL, is that the lounge completely closes between offerings, as in the gates are locked. All CL's close at 10pm, but most allow guests a limited after-hours selection of drinks and whole fruit, at least until guests take it all.

this ^^^^ was my biggest gripe of all, locking the gates during the daytime! We always try to return to the resort midday to cool off and change for dinner. It was very frustrating to have to chase down a CM (and they were rude back when we stayed there) and ask for a soda, then have them huff about having to get you one.

WDWKOOK - I just wanted to quickly say how much I admire/appreciate the work you do on the other resort threads! Your dedication to helping your fellow Disney travelers and DIS'ers is incredibly impressive.

As to your question, I had this same internal debate prior to my Feb GF trip. In the end it simply came down to one (arguably snooty) thought/fear.... I just did not want to walk out of SL every day and look up at the main building and have that "I wonder what it's like in there" feeling. I figured GF is not a place we would go that regularly in the future, so what the heck, go big or go home. Ultimately I didn't leave RPC with a lot of Disney warm/fuzzy/magic feelings (mostly due to kind of cold CMs), but there are a lot of things that RPC does very well relative to other CLs and all things considered, we really enjoyed the stay. No regrets whatsoever. I'm not sure I could justify the very large price difference every time, but for a bucket list three day stay, heck yeah.

As to the views from RPC, I had a "Main Building-Standard Room-Club Level" room with two queens (I'm not sure if this is the same or different than your Deluxe Queen, frankly the RPC room categories kind of confused me a bit). Regardless, while I was also worried about the view, turned out I really liked it! My room category meant you either had views of the courtyard pool (which I had) OR more towards the lagoon/Poly direction. Here was my view:

@WDWKOOK I second what @GADisneyDad14 above said about all your hard work and great advice in resort threads!

We have stayed at most CL's multiple times each. RPC had been on my bucket list for many years. As my twins are getting older (13!), I thought now is the time to finish out that Disney bucket list before we move onto adding other trips in the mix (Alaska cruise here we come!). So this last Easter we finally stayed at RPC. I did slightly wonder if we should stay in SL instead, but in the end I had the same feelings that @GADisneyDad14 had: would I look at the main building and wonder and wish -- most likely I would, so we went with RPC. And let me tell you, it was by far one of our best trips ever! In comparison to other CL trips, RPC was like a dream. I think a solo trip would be incredibly awesome at RPC. Just listening to the music in the main building and enjoying at your own pace = paradise! That would definitely be my choice.

We loved BC CL for many years. As a family, we have outgrown the rooms (or are at least exhausted from trying to get our requests, which are daybed, full balcony, and near lounge). However, going solo would change all that as you obviously wouldn't need a daybed. The refurbed rooms are top-notch and the new lounge is awesome! The lounge does not offer a view, and we used to love that cozy-type feeling. However, now we love having a lounge with a view, so lounges like BC and BWI aren't our favorites (right now, anyway).

So besides RPC, our other top CL experience is Poly LV. In being honest, I don't think we'd stay at Poly if we didn't stay in this type of room. It completes our experience and makes it the best it can be. We are definitely a family that spends a lot of time enjoying the resort. IMO, Poly LV and RPC both offer that relaxation along with the views and great balconies! RPC wins for the food and extra pampering touches, but Poly wins for the views and location!

As the poster that stated I had the bottle of wine taken out of my hands and poured by a cast member, this really did happen. I didn't say the bottle was "grabbed" out of my hand or snatched out of my hand but it was taken out of my hand . This was done with a polite "Please let me do that for you" but it did happen. As anyone that reads any of my posts knows I love the BWI CL and many of the CM that work at the hotel. I think that over the past year some of the CM have gotten a little rattled over the changes that management is forcing on them and that can make for some uncomfortable interactions with guests. Anyone that is planning a trip to the BWI CL rest assured that they are some of the nicest CM you will ever meet. I have been reading that at least some of the CL are back to being self pour and this would make me very happy:)

We are sitting in the lounge right now and so far it has all been self serve. Last night was as well. Agree about the CMs-best on property. Here were some offering the 5-7 tonight

Thanks for making me hungry! The shrimp looks really good, I don't recall having that before. Hope your having a wonderful trip and thank you so much for the photo's. Part of me wants Dec. to hurry and get here so we can return to my happy place but the other part remembers that we live in the Northeast and I HATE winter.

It's great having the opinion of the Queen of Solo stays! That is too funny that some CMs seemed to feel sorry for you. Perhaps they were jealous?!

I'm actually not booked CL at BC as it wasn't available with the military rate. BC is the only Deluxe at which I've never stayed, so CL or not, I can cross it off the list soon. I wanted to throw an Epcot Resort in the mix and I've already done YC and BWI CLs. I've seen and heard the same reports about how crazy that BC lounge can get and that has never appealed to me at all. However, since the lounge expansion, maybe that's helped lessen the chaotic feeling.

Of your three, Tower Club was our least favorite. Most of the tower rooms are suites, so there just isn't that many guests up there. Hard to explain, but we like Atrium level better. I should also mention, to be fair, we stayed pre-renovation. At the time, renovations were sorely needed.

What a thorough and helpful post, @mickeyluv'r! I appreciate all the points you covered. I was so excited about my first solo stay that I didn't even really think about which lounges are more conducive for singles (in the Disney traveling sense).

It's funny that what you don't really like about Tower Club, appeals to me greatly. I found the Atrium Club lounge too crowded at times and I have always been intrigued by the fact that the Tower level only has 11 suites and 5 non-suites Vs. the 12th floor's 48 rooms. I also love the 14th floor room décor.

Thanks for the TV reminder, and I know just what you mean about them being a potential negative distraction. We had a similar issue at BWI - very loud and not on a general interest channel like news, a Disney channel, Resort channel or weather. I'll probably bring my iPhone or iPad and the newspaper:). I assume there isn't a balcony on the same floor as the RPC lounge where you can sit?

WDWKOOK - I just wanted to quickly say how much I admire/appreciate the work you do on the other resort threads! Your dedication to helping your fellow Disney travelers and DIS'ers is incredibly impressive.

@GADisneyDad14, thank you so much for your kind comments:blush:. I really enjoy helping others to plan their trips, but I could never do any of it without all the thoughtful, kind and knowledgable people who post to the DIS Resorts forum.

I love your RPC rationale and it makes perfect sense (and isn't snooty). I'm eager to compare/contrast RPC, which is supposed to be Disney's finest CL:snooty:, with Tower Club, BWI, YC and WL CLs.

I appreciate you posting your room view - I never get tired of seeing Disney Resort photos! I always find it a pleasant surprise when staying at a MK Resort and off in the distance is another park like Epcot. It's like a bonus view:)

Thanks so much for seconding the motion, @TJA :). You're a great resource for CL information and you always post thorough reviews and comments which are very helpful.

I am really looking forward to this trip. I always told myself I would do this right after DD starts college, but I kept putting off booking, until last week. It can be really hard changing gears from family vacations and never having been away one night since DD was born, to her going away to college and me traveling alone. A part of you (or at least me) is so excited and another part wonders what it'll "feel" like in reality.

I wasn't able to get a CL room at BC, but is their lounge like the Regatta Club where you have a very small balcony off the lounge where a couple of people can fit at the table?

I wasn't able to get a CL room at BC, but is their lounge like the Regatta Club where you have a very small balcony off the lounge where a couple of people can fit at the table?

I am one of those people who previously did not like CL at the BC. When we stayed there a few years ago, the lounge was small, too crowded, and full of crying kids (I'm not that sensitive, but really, there was a kid having a tantrum on the floor near the food area just lying there kicking and screaming and the parents left him there and people had to step over him/walk around him to get breakfast!). We were there this March again and it is SO MUCH BETTER. The lounge is really, really big now, with tons of space for them to put out the food (which was also a big improvement over our previous visit) and plenty of space for people to spread out and sit down. It is similar to Regatta in that it's just a room (not like AKL or RPC where you are overlooking the lobby) with a nice balcony with no real views.

I see you are debating RPC. I say go ahead and try it out. We love the space up there. It never feels crowded and I enjoy hearing the piano or the band playing. We split between those two in March, though, and honestly the BC was a much better deal (price wise for what we got) and surprisingly food-wise as well. I went in with pretty low expectations for the BC after that trip years ago, and they really impressed me. I went into RPC expecting "more" (also stayed there previously) and I wasn't "wowed" but I do like the main building.

Hi everyone! Thanks for your responses to my questions. I think I will look into a car service. Being that we will be coming in later, I really would love to get there as quick as possible. :duck: Does anyone have any car service suggestions? I'm assuming this can be arranged in advance. Thanks again for your help!
