Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Just changed our reservation from a normal room at the YC to a Club Level at BC for next weekend Aug 14-17. We live only two hours away, are DVC owners and visit Disney World at least every other month. Yet we haven't stayed Club before, so I'm super excited!

I'm kinda nervous though, we have four daughters age seven and under so I want to apologize in advance for any misbehaving they my ensue. :)

So if I'm reading correctly, last Anyone has heard the texting for the fourth isn't going on right now? Or is it?

As someone who has literally spent 100's of days staying club level at Disney I have seen some pretty abhorrent behavior. 90% of the time everything is great, the majority of people are kind and considerate to each other. I've had some awesome interactions with other guests and made friendships that have gone on for years. I met a family from England last week and ended up sitting with them for an hour helping to rebuild all the fastpasses they accidentally deleted. I love meeting people and helping people. That's one of the main reasons I continue to stay club level. ::yes:: But unfortunately the other 10% of the time proves there are extremely rude people in this world who think they have the right to do whatever they want with no care or consideration for others. They've spent their money and they consider everything in the lounge to be for them and to hell with everyone else. These are the people who stake out tables, don't share, clean out entire trays of food, let their kids run wild, and basically have no class or decency. They are the reason high quality food had to be taken away, water bottles had to be taken away, and the booze had to be monitored. Because they have no healthy boundaries or common sense. You may think I'm blowing it out of proportion but you can talk to club level castmembers and hear these same stories.

TigrlvsPooh--I am in total agreement with you. I have not only heard stories I have seen some behavior that makes you just shake your head and be glad at least some people have common sense. Unsupervised kids? How about when they come into the lounge and finger all the food??!! I also love when people show up in their robes and bare feet--there is food in the lounge!! My favorite- Come sit on the cushioned chairs in your wet bathing suit so the chairs are wet for the next 4 hrs so nobody else can sit in them. I know they are on vacation and can do whatever they want.............

And then these same people with bad manners get on airplanes and fly home ! Oh the stories airline Cpt. DH has to tell on this subject! Totally agree with tigrlvspooh...90%of the people are great, it's the other 10% we get to talk about !

Wow, we all just got booted from the resort board. Since when are FAQs considered community threads? :scratchin

I guess I forget about having the internet, I still have an old flip phone and don't carry the ipad with me most places. I'll have to do some research as it gets closer and toss a few ideas in my bucket for when we go.
Thanks for your help!

I don't understand!?! Luckily, we all already follow these threads, but why make it harder for newbies to find? So strange.

I just saw a post from one of the Moderators, Lynne M, that since the FAQ Threads are part informational, part social and part photos they will be moved to the Resort Community Board. I have a feeling what I bolded is the main reason they were moved.

Boo, hiss. :headache: I guess as long as a moderator hasn't gone rogue, we can deal with it. Probably. :)

That will work:) Let us know if you discover anything yummy! Unfortunately, having internet on a smartphone has become a necessity for a lot of us because even our kids' schools have gone "paperless" and require us to check their websites as well as email on a regular basis.

The whole point of this FAQ thread (and all the other resort FAQs) is to help folks learn more about CL and answer any questions they might have. This isn't a social thread and we stay on the topic of CL at all times. The resort board is going to suffer and new visitors are never going to find these FAQs.

Hello CL experts! For those of you who have stayed CL at YC and AKL before, I'm hoping to pick your brains and get your opinions. We are currently set for GV CL at YC, but I am toying with changing to AKL. As I've mentioned previously in this thread, this will be our first deluxe (and inherently, our first CL) stay, so just don't want to have any regrets when it comes to our resort choice.

I'm not particularly over the moon about the room décor or theme at YC (although location and SAB definitely have me excited). I also have read some less-than-stellar reviews about YC CL recently which have me a bit nervous... AKL looks beautiful, but being limited to bus transportation is a bit of a bummer, the rooms as slightly smaller, and we would have to take an elevator up to the lounge. For those of you who have stayed at both, at which resort did you have a better overall experience as a CL guest? If it makes any difference for purposes of your opinions, we used a bounceback offer for our YC CL reservation, but that wouldn't be available for AKL CL so it would be about $300 extra to make the move.

Thank you in advance for any insight/suggestions/opinions/reassurance/etc. that yall might be able to provide! :)

I have created a monster.

I plan and pay for all Disney vacations because if my husband knew how much they really cost, he would die. So, we are going on a quick trip for our anniversary without kids (leaving in two days!!!!), and my husband offers to pay if it's cheap. So, we are at Pop. Last night, for the third time in a week, he asks me if we are Club Level. Again, I say, no, we are at Pop. He will have to hang on for November for our BWI club stay.

I know it's not my fault, but I feel bad because this was a kind of off topic post, I just figured that CL people would know best what CL has and would maybe have some tried and true drink ideas, lol.

Maybe they can pin a post at the top of the resort boards that says something about "need more specific information about your resort....?" And direct people here. I love these threads!

We've stayed at both, several times. In fact our last trip was split between AKL CL and YC CL. You seem to understand the pros and cons of both, really. It's a tough call. We love the theming, animals, and great CL lounge at AKL, but after a few days I get tired of the buses and prefer to be in a better location, so we split with either an MK or Epcot resort. The YC theming doesn't do much for me, but I do love the location and being able to get to Epcot so easily (and my DD loves SAB). I'm not sure I would pay more to switch to AKL (as much as I love it there and think that the lounge and the lounge food is much better).

I guess I'm not helping much... Would you do a split stay? I did find that the IPO office and the desk CMs and the lounge were all better at AKL. The walk to the lounge (we use the stairs instead of the elevator sometimes) wasn't all that bad, and the views from up there made up for the walk. I'm having similar feeling about our upcoming trip, and at this point I'm leaning towards the convenience of the Epcot resorts because we will only be there for a few days and I want to maximize our park time.

Baileys over ice alone or with milk is good. Just ask a cm for milk and mix your own.

I don't think I've ever seen Baileys in any of the lounges! It's one of the few I'd try! Bailey's tastes great mixed with coffee, and isn't cloyingly sweet.

Most other cordials are either very strong (flavor), very sweet, or both. for me, it can be a bit like drinking cough syrup, albeit with better flavoring- at least in some cases. (no fan of amaretto! blech!)

If you like sweet coffee, then you might enjoy something like Grand Marnier (orange) or Kahlua (coffee flavor) mixed with coffee, especially something strong like (decaf?) espresso.

Many cordials also classically mix well with (bittersweet) chocolate. Putting some over a mousse or chocolate cake might be good, if the chocolate isn't too sweet already.

I am a huge fan of the various resort faq's. I wonder if maybe new folks to the disboards didn't find them helpful, and preferred to ask q's as individual posts.

I think if you like Baileys you would love Amarula. It's a little less sweet, lovely flavor. I've seen it at AKL and Contemporary, may be at other CL's too.

Thank you! I was trying to avoid doing a split stay, but after your post, I re-considered. HOWEVER, when I went to look at only booking the AKL CL room for the back-end of our stay, the discounted rate wasn't available (although there were discounted choices for CL suites, etc.). When I switched the dates back for the entire duration of our stay, the discounted standard view CL room was an option again. UGH I swear, there's just no way to make this an easy decision lol!
