Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Thank you so much! You are all so knowledgeable and that is such a benefit to the disboard. I have reservations at CR TPV CL and it's for our 45th Anniversary, so this is very special and $$$ for us. But of course, worth it! But oh, that pool at GF....oh my. It is a pull, especially since we want a resort stay for the most part, and love pools. Sigh....
Which pool at GF is the big draw for you? I honestly think CR has an underrated pool. I like the quiet pool. The pool itself is nothing special but the view looking out over the lake is really pretty and very relaxing.

From what I could see the GF just looks so much bigger than the contemporary. Am I right in thinking that? We can’t afford to go this fancy except for a special occasion like our Anniversary, so I am for sure second guessing everything😂. But I think CR CL TPV is really a winner💕

Food imo has been pretty good lately. It is one of the few places where you don’t stress about what room you get. I have been on both ends of TPV atrium and it’s really pretty close. There’s not enough difference to stress about,

Do you want to see the castle from the bed? Request an odd numbered room. DD’s fav !

Thanks! It will be wonderful❤️

Okay, so for my birthday in mid-February I currently have an AKL king CL room booked. At rack rate, which is killing me. And it’s unlikely that it will have a discount available when the next batch are released due to the limited number of those rooms.

Sell me on the room.

We’ve never done CL at AKL. We’ve been moving away from CL in general, since we got DVC and an Owners Locker. Regular CL rooms we’ve had crappy luck getting good rooms with a king bed, and we never seem to make good use of the lounge due to our park touring schedule. And, we have found some of the lounges overflowing with feral kids and huge groups using it as an extension of their room. We just have bad luck in our timing, I guess. The only lounge we’ve loved has been CR Tower, but there isn’t a room available there. There is the Honeymoon Suite at Poly in the Tonga building, if I want to go big or go home. ;-)

I do love the idea of sitting on the balcony with a coffee, watching the animals out on the savanna. But I could likely get a savanna view room of some sort once the discounts come out, just not the king bed club level. I’m pretty much out of DVC points for this year, so that’s not an option.

WWYD? Is CL at AKL as good as the YouTubers say? How is the location of those king rooms? Or should I look for something else?

DH is no help at all, he’s fine with whatever and refuses to help pick. (He’d normally pick YC/BC/BCV, but Stormalong is closed then so he doesn’t care where Plan B lands us.)
We stayed at AKL CL in February 2023 for a week. I think we were on the same floor as the lounge (previous posters have said it is a different floor, but I don't remember it that way - maybe I blocked it out LOL), but it was a hike (that didn't bother us so much). Honestly, I wouldn't do it again. It was fine and that is about all I can say about it. We saw a couple of far away animals on check-in day (afternoon) but we did not see 1 (that is zero) on any morning while having coffee or getting ready for the day. This was such a huge disappointment because it is why we stayed there. I also envisioned watching the animals while drinking my coffee on the balcony.

If it was a hike to your room, you were definitely on another floor. The rooms that are on the same floor as the lounge are a mere
few steps away from it. They are also designated DVC rooms.

Thanks - so I have blocked it out haha ...I didn't mind the distance to the lounge, but the lack of animals in the morning made the savannah view a total bust. The lounge itself was serviceable.....but we have had much better experiences at WL CL and BC CL for sure. They did have a yummy African beer (that I don't remember the name of) that we continued to go back for - that was a highlight at least :)

That's Tusker beer and unfortunately it did not make a return after COVID it's my DHs favorite too.

This was Feb 2023, so it must not have been Tusker. My family of 4 all really enjoyed it though. I will try to do some googling and figure it out.

There’s a green label IPA called Goose Island… is that it?

It is too early to check in with my fam to see if they remember the name. We were weary travelers on our first day in the club and we plopped down at a table. A friendly CM brought us out 4 of them. The bottle was brown LOL ....I wonder if it was Casa Beer? That bottle looks familiar, however, the name does not.

Now I'm intrigued. I'm looking back at my pics in Oct 2023 and Oct 2022 and I'm only seeing the same beers that @mrsap Has in her Pic. I see the Capetown lounge in Jiko has Safari Amber on their menu, I wonder if you got lucky and had that?

I'm there next month so I'll take one for the team and do some reconnaissance to report back. Maybe they just keep it in the back

Just posting a general request for opinions about the AKL club level? Its one of two club levels I have never stayed at. In general, I like AKL and have stayed in different rooms there. Now, my family and I are debating whether to book a weekend stay at the AKL club level next year. so any opinions, tips, or thoughts about this experience are appreciated! Thanks

If you like the resort you’ll love CL there.

It’s not as close/convenient as others, if steps ok I say try it.

Have you ever eaten at AKL restaurants? If the answer is yes and you enjoy their food, or are adventurous eaters, then you would enjoy it!! Although, I’m the absolute worst person here to give advice on CL, because I eat nothing, but I love the convenience of it!! lol I’d definitely recommend watching some videos on YouTube (there are a few new AKL CL reviews just posted!) and check out the offerings for both lounges that you’re considering, and see which one your family prefers!! Good luck deciding!

I'll be there next month so if there's anything specific, I'll be happy to help. We love the resort itself. If you've stayed here before, then you know the hallways are long. The lounge is 2 floors above the CL rooms, so that's probably the biggest con. If you have the opportunity to book when the tree is up, it's extra magical.

So we are officially staying CL at WL for our next trip. We were going to do dining plan and stay in a BRV studio, but for a very similar cost, if we dropped the dining plan, we could stay CL. And it's a bucket list thing for me. We aren't paying for this trip. We won it in a raffle, so we decided if we are going to stay CL to do it for this. I'm rather excited and really looking forward to it.
