Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Good morning my Club Level family. I wanted to update you on my cancer situation. I had my cancer surgery two weeks ago. The surgery went well, but was more extensive than I was expecting. Of the lymph nodes removed, one did have cancer. But it was contained only to that one, the other tissue and lymph nodes were clear. I did develop an infection in my neck incision that did require an additional hospitalization. (Just returned home yesterday). The good news is I am cancer free and will just be monitored regularly.

My DH and I booked a Disney trip for me to focus on during my recovery and it looks like we will be going in two weeks. I am so excited with all the changes Disney has made in the past 24 hours. I will definitely be more comfortable outdoors.

I’m SO happy for you!!!! I hope you have the most wonderful trip!!! Enjoy every minute of it!!! 😘

@CogsworthTN thanks for sharing your positive improvements following your current recent health challenges. Booking and planning a Diney vacation can provide a very positive distraction from day to day challenges.

My Familie's thoughts and prayers are with you and your DH as you make further plans for a quick return to WDW in just 2 short weeks.

So glad to hear the good news. Best wishes for a continued recovery.
Have a wonderful trip!

I wish for you a magical trip to the the GF. It is definitely my favorite resort because for me it has that “princess” vibe going. I love the FaceTime in the parks idea. I have a feeling once you are in the parks the magic of Disney will hit you and you will not even notice the crowds.

On our family trips when I was little, and it first opened, whenever we would pass it on the monorail going to MK I used to call it “the princess hotel”. And I wanted to stay there so badly because it was where fancy princesses stayed, obviously! Only the Poly was as much a dream resort. Never thought I would ever get to do it but here I am. :)

You are continually in my thoughts, I hope you stay cancer free and can enjoy Disney again. Looks like we are going at the same time!

I’ll be there then too!

So glad you are going back so soon!

@CogsworthTN Thank you for updating us. You’ve been in my thoughts since I read about your diagnosis. I’m so happy to hear that you are cancer free. What a horrible, frightening ordeal. I hope that you have a wonderful Disney trip. It was a magical place to us after we had a cancer diagnosis in my family, far away from doctors, hospitals, operating rooms, etc. I hope that your trip is a magical celebration and lifts your spirits.

Even with the room-only discounts, which typically top out around 35%, you are still looking at around $715+ for RPC. That’s at least not insane, but that just gets you down to the rack rate for other CL rooms, and at least some of those would also qualify for the same discount.
I was just looking at rates for a quick trip in September and came across room rates at the Poly that were jaw dropping! When you add in tax a theme park view room at the Poly is $1,000 a night!! Are they crazy. No discounts of any kind available either. The Poly is the only Deluxe resort at Disney that we have never stayed in and with those kind of prices it looks like it's going to stay that way. If they bring the CL back I can't even imagine what they will charge now for those rooms.

Well usually GV CL rooms at the Poly tend to be close to non-CL TPV rooms, I think you can say about that price you quoted.

That said, the TPV rooms at the Poly are not worth the premium, since it’s pretty far from the MK, especially because you can enjoy the same view on the grounds. In normal times, if you are willing to pay for TPV (which I wouldn’t at those prices) you might as well just stay GV CL, because you also can get that view from the lounge.

This is incredible news!!!

Out of curiosity, has anyone stayed at the Waldorf? I'm only considering it for the golf course for hubby and practice area for my 14yo. I've never done off property. The lazy river looks nice. I would try and uber everywhere. In march uber/lyft was hard to come by. Not sure staying off is worth the effort.

We’re stying at the Four Seasons (after a few nights at the GF) in July. I’ve never stayed off site either, but right now there’s really not much to keep us on site. I never thought I’d say that, lol. I’m renting a car...something else I never thought I would do, but when we visited in the fall, I was trying to do what I could to minimize our potential Covid exposure and decided I was more comfortable renting a car than sharing a bus. To my shock, I really liked having a car and now can’t imagine not having one! 🤣 The only park that makes it difficult with a car is MK, and we’ll visit that one while we’re staying at the GF. Sorry I can’t help with the Waldorf. I was trying to decide between there and the Four Seasons and went with the Four Seasons. I’m curious about any experiences people have had at either of these.
