Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Lastly, a quick cross-post from the YC/BC thread. The new cabanas at Stormalong Bay seem to be almost finished and blend really well.

A sign said they'll be complete March 2019. Folks on the YC/BC thread have reported being able to book them, although I'm not sure of exactly when they will be available.

There are four cabanas.

So that's about it for our trip - went by way too fast as always. Happy to answer any questions.

Has anything changed with the new FP changes and AP limits? Because the 7-day limit only applies if you have offsite stays. I currently have 9 days of FPs on a split stay with APs (all onsite). If I'm reading your post correctly, all your stays are onsite. If they are all onsite, you will have length of stay FP privileges for all your trips.

I included that in my email along with the reservation numbers. My trips are three weeks apart and according to what I was told by the AP vip CM you cannot have that many fast passes within thirty days.

I sure hope you are correct. :sunny:

:wave:I want to thank all of my DIS friends who spent time researching my booking dilemma. You have calmed my fears and if I do have issues, I will certainly call DSS for assistance.

This hasn’t been the first time I received incorrect information from a CM. :rotfl2:

Small trip report from YC CL this past weekend. Quick three night, adults-only stay for the Princess Half weekend. We chose an Epcot resort for proximity to the race start/finish (Epcot parking lot) and walk-ability to Epcot for meals/entertainment.

Random thoughts...
  • Uneventful check-in experience, no greeters or anything special, no different than past YC stays. We had received our room-ready text so decided to go up ourselves without stopping at the front desk. Of course, MBs didn't work in the elevator. They literally never work at YC for anything - room, elevator, etc - without at least one visit to the CMs for help. So, we go back to the front desk, they call someone to escort us up, off we go. From there check-in was great...offered drinks, general chit-chat, etc. Hyacinth (I'm worried I'm spelling her name wrong) was working and remembered us from prior trips, always nice to see a familiar face.
  • Others have recently reported being contacted a few days in advance directly from YC CL CMs, however we did not hear from them. We did get the call and postcard from DSS after we booked several months ago.
  • Room was ready early (12:20 text), which was nice.
  • Food/beverage offerings were pretty consistent with other stays that have been well documented on the thread recently.
  • Sort of a strange mix of CMs this time - some new ones and some familiar faces. We've found more 'warmth' with the desk CMs than the lounge CMs, generally speaking... but that kind of stuff is always a shift-change away from being a different experience day to day/hour to hour. The lounge is often pretty busy in our experience, so they have a hard job keeping food re-stocked and tables cleared.
  • Had some odd late service starts that we just randomly happened to observe.... desserts last night still weren't out until more like 8:15, breakfast this AM wasn't out until 7:10. We normally wouldn't have cared but had a 7:25 departure, so our time was somewhat short. Not the end of the world, just not totally precise either.
  • All-in-all none of what I just mentioned are major negatives for us, just observations.. We had a great weekend and YC CL didn't disappoint.
Enough chatter, some pics.

So our room... booked a Water View room. We purposely did not submit any room requests, someone out of laziness and somewhat out of just wanting to roll with whatever we were given. Our prior Water View rooms have been down the longer hallway past the lounge. This time, we had Room 5151 which is the room in red below. Get off the elevator and take a left.

GREAT room location. Like, really, really good. Great views, just steps from the elevator and lounge. It was just far enough down the hall from the elevator/CL CM desks to not hear material noise.

I guess they saw two adults on the reservation and gave us a king room. Again, didn't make any requests, but we were happy with the king. Really opens up the room.

Bed was comfy enough, but oddly the bed frame made noise when you got in/out of the bed. Made me question the quality of whatever slats/supports are under that mattress.

Obligatory Sunday morning mimosa bar photo. This was motivation enough to get done with the run and get the heck back the the lounge ASAP! :-)

Great Illuminations view from here too.

Great pictures! Hope you had a nice weekend! How’d you do in the marathon?!! PR I hope?!

Not a ton of lounge pics this trip, but a few:

New to us table centerpieces. Cute.

They recently moved furniture around - two, two-tops are now there to the right where a table with various candies used to be. I am not sure if these are two new tables or just moved around from the rest of the lounge.

You can see a bit here, but the carpet is suffering from the some pretty serious staining in spots if you really stop to look around. The lounge always strikes me as crisp/clean, except for this carpet. Still a great space.

It has almost no entertainment value from this distance, but I learned you can see Happily Ever After (MK fireworks) very clearly from the lounge balcony.

The candy that was once in the lounge is now in the 5th floor elevator lobby with a few less options. Now it's taffy, jolly ranchers, and lolly-pops.

A nice touch on Half Marathon morning (left out in the 5th floor elevator lobby). Although we had asked the day before if anything would be left out overnight (we've had this at other resorts/CLs for races) and were told no. Not to be cynical, but typical left hand/right Disney communications. This pic is 3:30am, FWIW. :-)

I agree, those centerpieces are adorabłe!

Communication! Why does Disney not have team meetings or a billboard that cm's can check so they know what's going on. I don't think I've had a single trip where I have been given wrong or conflicting info.

Great pix!

I'm gonna miss you at rpc by only a few days, rats!

:sad:I’m in tears. DH and myself will be at Disney May 30-June 8. We are staying At the GF RPC and We are planning to do a vow renewal (on our own). We have already paid the trip in full, plus airfare. The reason why I’m in tears is, June 30-July 6 we will be bringing my Dad to Disney to Celebrate his completion of radiation treatments. He asked to stay at the GF club level.

I just figured out we will not be able to make fast passes for the trip with my Dad because we will have fast passes booked three weeks prior. This annual passholder rule stinks, especially when your staying on site.

My trips seem to be turning out not magical at all. First the split stay issues that will affect our fast pass bookings for May/June trip and now this annual pass-holder limit. I am so upset. I’m wrapped in my weighted blanket to keep from having a panic attack. All this planning for two memorable trips is quickly falling apart. We love experiencing the rides and so does my Dad.
:sad1:

I’m sorry you’re going through this, I hope you get it all figured out. Sounds like a great trip too!

Hi, I haven't posted in a while but am happy to report we have a CL trip planned in May for our wedding anniversary! We are headed to GF RPC (our first time) for an extended weekend trip. I'm so very excited!!

RPC is amazing and is a great resort/CL for an anniversary trip! Have a great trip and enjoy RPC :wizard:.

I hope everything works out for a great trip with your dad :grouphug:.

My Dad begins his radiation treatments next week and will finish in May. He wanted to go back to Disney and be a kid again. I’m not sure what to do or who to contact for help. I really don’t think they will help me. :guilty:

I hope your dad's treatments go well . Also hope you have a great anniversary trip and that things work out with FPs on the 2nd trip :wizard:.

I had 2 club level trips booked at YC CL. We were there Feb 3-8 & have a trip booked for April 20 -27. I called to book the CL paid FPs the day before our Feb trip. The CM started to make them & couldn’t make the last 2. She asked if we had another trip booked, I said yes, we arrive tomorrow. She mentioned something about the AP 7 day limit, which I had never heard of. Anyway, she took a few minutes & said , “let me do this another way” & within minutes she had everything booked. So I know for sure they have some kind of work around.

Glad DSS was able to help :).

Thanks for another great review with pics! Getting excited for my first YC CL stay in June :goodvibes.

Wow, great room! I’m jealous, we’ve been staying YC CL for about 18 years now & have only had a king room maybe twice. And we are down that long hall to near the end of the floor almost every trip, too. I might just have to start requesting that room, or at least that location. Glad you had a good weekend!

So, for an adults only trip and wanting a King, I have to say this was just about the perfect room / room location. We had 7-8pm bedtimes and 3am wake-up calls 2 out of 3 nights so were in/around the room quite a bit. Arguably one of the best balconies/locations on property to just sit/relax/take in the excitement of SAB and the comings/goings of the resort. The sun also only hit the balcony in the AM, so it was totally shaded through much of the day.

The only problem is, there are SO few rooms down that little wing. The room to the right is part of the Presidential Suite I believe, the few rooms on the left seem to be a mix of Kings & 2 Queens if we believe TouringPlans (take with a grain of salt obviously). And I would not have wanted to be any closer to the elevator. Admittedly this is coming from someone who was trying to sleep at 7pm so most would never ever encounter this, but people can be crazy loud coming off the elevator at times which we could hear from where we were.

So I’m torn, this would definitely be our perfect room - but I’d be so nervous about requesting that wing given what may be potential negatives for some.

Now the real question, what sort of list are you on that you almost always get put at the end of the hallway? ;)

I borrowed @GADisneyDad14 picture for illustration.

For you toiletry hoarders: I have noticed my fall to spring trips that the tops are blue vs the old style green. DH did not notice so I rearranged his "stash cabinet" so the green topped ones in front and the fresher blue topped in the back.

We actually had the first room in that hallway once several years ago. It was the rare king room. It wasn’t the elevator noise that was bothersome, but the CMs & guests talking at the desks sort of echoed across the hall right into our room. We do afternoon rests/ naps, so that really was irritating. It was a short stay because we were doing a split that year, so we dealt with it. But you’re right, the risk of noise in that hall is probably pretty high.

And yes, we are grown adults with no kids who often fall asleep in the afternoon. Something we never do in real life, so what a luxury a nap is on vacation! :goodvibes

I’m beginning to wonder! Especially after getting that same room 5239 on 2 trips in a row. :rotfl2: The first time we ever stayed there, we were in the first room right next to the club prep room. Now that was noisy, starting at about 6 - 6:30 in the morning. We heard carts & a bit of banging around every day. I started requesting a “quiet room, away from housekeeping” after that. We didn’t mind that walk to the second hallway for many years. But since hitting our 60s, the trek is getting to be much harder. Time to start requesting “close to the lounge” & see if I can get on a different list! :rolleyes2

I would have to agree that the CM you talked to was incorrect. I cannot see any reason why a person who booked two onsite stays would be penalized for also having an AP. It makes no sense.

we had one of the rooms across the hall from your room a few years ago, and I agree it was a great location! It was a garden view room with a daybed and full balcony. As far as location it was close to the elevators but not too close (we never heard anything, but we were across the hall from them), close to the lounge but again not too close, close to the CMs if you needed anything but far enough away you couldn't hear their conversations, and the view was great for garden view. If you looked left you could see the lake and BWI. I would be happy with this location anytime, but alas since we need a room that sleeps 5 now (and soon will need 6 when the twins turn 3) we will likely never stay in one of these again :(.

ETA I see I left in a random photo from the room and didn't leave in the map showing the room. Oops Since the map the previous page and would be too much work and time to change and and I would probably mess it up again I'm just leaving the wrong photo 8-):D
