Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

We booked a king room for the last night of our trip (I saved $500 flying home the next day!) we will be taking the skyline over from Yacht Club, where should we request our room? We've never stayed here before and would like to take advantage of everything that makes CBR special.
Can't help with location, but you won't be able to take luggage on the Skyliner - just as you wouldn't be able to take it on any Disney transportation.

Our 2 favorite locations are Jamaica 45 and Aruba 51. Both are a very short stroll across the bridge to Old Port Royale and the Main Feature Pool. Plus they're both not far at all from the CBR Skyliner Station.

I am in a CB Facebook group and everyone keeps saying that some of Aruba and Jamaica (6 buildings closest to Skyliner) are going to be considered preferred now. Has anyone here confirmed this?

Wouldn't surprise me if it is true.

Disney recently returned the 1960s over the way at Pop Century to all Preferred.

The Mouse may be on a revenue hunt.lol

Hey CBR pros! Staying there for the first time with my DH in May for a quick 2 night anniversary trip. Help me decide on building requests. Standard room. We'd like to be close to the Skyliner, and coffee :) we may eat at the Riviera more than CBR. We probably won't use the pools at all. Ideas?

From what I can find the 3 buildings closets to the riviera skyliner (54,55,56) are going to be made preferred. As are the 3 closest to the Jamaica skyliner. Seems more than half of CBR will be preferred.

Jamaica 45 and Aruba 51 are our favorite locations, and they happen to have Standard Rooms.

We've booked a preferred room (standard was sold out) for 2/18-2/22. My 6-foot-tall teenager would NOT do well sharing a bed with his brother, so we are hoping to get a 5th person sleeper room. Our travel agent told us there's no way to specifically book it, but that we could put in the request (so she did so when she made the reservation, and I also followed up via chat).

My question now is whether I might be able to put in additional room requests as well? - namely, I understand that the preferred rooms are in Barbados and Martinique, and I think we'd prefer Barbados; and we'd also prefer a second floor room. I've heard, though, that I may be better off not putting in multiple requests (i.e., I might end up with a second floor Barbados room that is NOT 5th person sleeper, whereas I'd rather sacrifice both 2nd floor and location if that's what I have to do go get the 5th person sleeper).

Does anyone have any experience with this? - do I risk losing out on my first request if I submit additional requests? TIA

(Also, the last time I stayed at CBR was 1997... so clearly I'm enthused to see all that's changed! 🤣)

Your Travel Agent is mistaken. There are multiple 5th Sleeper booking categories. In my experience the only way to get a 5th sleeper is to book it that way.

I just looked over our exchanges and it looks like the issue was that by the time we were booking there were no 5th sleeper rooms still available, but that she said we could put in a request and hope for the best; looking at the description of a basic "preferred room" it does indicate that the room will include either 2 Queen Beds or 2 Queen Beds and 1 Child-Size Pull-Down Bed, so I'm inclined to believe it is possible to get the 5th sleeper with this booking type. (We do plan to travel with a sleeping pad and sleeping bag in case it doesn't come through.)

Either way, my original question still stands - do people recommend that you only put in a single request regarding your room preferences if one of those preferences outweighs the others?

I'd just get there early and talk to the front desk Cast Members and explain what you need. Best way to get a request. And don't be too picky, you may need to give up one thing to get what you need the most. And FYI, a 6 foot person is going to have a difficult time sleeping on one of those pull down beds, they are designed for children, though small adults can sleep on them. I think anyone over 5'6" will find it a little uncomfortable (I'm 5'3" and 122 pounds and tried the one at the Poly and it would not have worked for me). The beds are smaller than a twin, both in length and width. You could order a blow up mattress from Amazon and have it delivered.

Thanks for the intel! My plan had been to have the younger brother (who's 5'1") sleep in the pull-down if we get it.
