Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

I know that every water view room does NOT have murphy beds so the CM must have been confused. My sister and her family went to Disney in May and stayed at CBR in a waterview room and they did not have a murphy bed.
How many and which rooms equipped with a murphy bed is the million $$ question but I understand they are sprinkled across the resort in every village except the pirate rooms. Just because you are a family of "less than 5" doesn't mean you can't get a murphy bed. It is simply that they can't assign a family of 5 a room without a murphy bed. So when you check in, it will depend on how many families of 5 are already checked in before you. You can always call and add "murphy bed" to your reservation as a request. It's not guaranteed that you will get one with a family less than 5 but it is definitely worth a request. One of the things that makes CBR so popular is that it can accommodate 5 people to a room which is huge for a family of 5 on a budget and If they don't have any rooms with the murphy bed available when you check in they, of course, can't assign you one but I have read many posts that indicate families with less than 5 have had a murphy bed so definitely request it! You may even want to fax a request with a brief explanation why you need one and how it would help your family. Do that about 5 days prior to check in and hopefully that will give you a better chance of getting one. Good luck!!!

Thanks. Very helpful information. I will have to have that added to the reservation and consider carefully if the extra cost is worth it even if we don't get the murphy bed.

I am wondering though, if the room says sleeps up to 5 adults it should sleep up to 5 adults no matter what water view room I get. So what is their solution to that? Or do they just say that because they rarely have 5 in each and every one of those rooms? More of a rhetorical question but a but frustrating. It feels like false advertising to book a room that says sleeps up to 5 adults and pictures a murphy bed and then show up and not get that. In my mind, that's the part that I am paying for.

OK, I know I've read the info I'm searching for somewhere, but I can't seem to find it now.

Has anyone had groceries delivered to their room at CBR? How did that work? Or can someone point me in the right direction to find info already posted. Thanks!

Get a hold of Garden Grocer or Amazon. The food will be delivered to CBR and they will store it for you. The refrigerators are mini-sized but can hold 1/2 gallons of milk. And there are microwaves in OPR for your use.

I had never noticed that on the website that it says "sleeps up to 5 adults" before. I did go onto the website and it says "Sleeps up to 5 Adults" on all room categories except the pirate rooms and a king room.
I agree, that is very misleading.
I can only imagine that they show that to let those with a family of 5 to see what categories they "could" get. I would assume that maybe when they have booked up all the rooms in a category that could sleep 5 that they would remove that category,if you were trying to book for a family of 5 but would still show it available if you were trying to book for a party of 4 or less. But that is just my thoughts. Not sure what would actually happen.
The picture in the Preferred and standard category has the area where the murphy bed is but in the water view the picture is of a regular room.

You actually don't pay any difference in price for a murphy bed room vs a regular room so definitely add the request, you have a valid reason for needing the murphy bed.

There is no extra cost for a room with a Murphy Bed.

No. Some Water View rooms will have 2 queens and only sleep 4.

So what is their solution to that? Or do they just say that because they rarely have 5 in each and every one of those rooms?

They know how many rooms they have with Murphy Beds in each category. So if all of the rooms in any given category are already booked for a given time period, you will see the message next to that Category of room saying "Sorry, there are no rooms available to accommodate your party size."

Agreed, I always thought it was weird that they listed their rooms like that. It's the exact same way for all their resorts that have rooms that sleep more than 4. They all say "up to" 5 or 6 adults.

That is exactly what they do.

I was there in May with my wife, and we had a murphy bed...so I would imagine they have enough of them.

Good info @CTPacky ! By any chance, do you remember your room #?
Mickeystoontown continues to update the original post with room # that have the murphy bed in them.

Maybe someday, all of CBR will have the murphy beds :flower1:

Is the same true of POR?

I just realized that your post wasn't answered.
I'm not completely sure what you are asking that may be "true of POR" but if you are referring to the murphy bed locations- POR has one section- Alligator Bayou, that is ALL murphy beds unlike CBR that has them spread throughout the resort.
If you are referring to the way the rooms are assigned at POR, I can not speak from experience since we have never stayed there but I would think you would need to request a murphy bed room if you are a family with less than 5. You may want to post your questions about POR on this thread:

They may be able to answer your questions about POR a little better :)

This morning I woke up and saw great prices on a standard room for my dates and got so excited. But when I went to make changes to my reservation online it wouldnt go through. I called and they told me they could not honor that price! There was some glitch with my dates internally. So disappointing. I would have saved $500.

BUT what is bothering me more is that now my account says that I have to call to make any changes to my reservations. I really liked that I could make the changes myself and find it extremely inconvenient that I have to call every time I need a minor change when my trip is still 5 months out. :(

CORRECTION! Wow, they went above and beyond. They put me on hold to address the technical issues with my account. I held for about 10 minutes and when they came back they actually did end up giving me a big discount on the room. Not quite $500 but close and awesome none the less. I love disney.

Sorry that question wasn't clear. I was wondering if it was also true for POR that some of the rooms that say "sleeps up to 5 adults" have murphy beds and some don't. But yes, I should be asking that in the POR thread.

But, we are going to stick with what we got after talking with Disney this morning. We got a great rate in a better room. I'm going to stick with it and enjoy the discount. I'll take that money and splurge on something for my 4 year old.

Thanks for all your help!

We leave next Tuesday for our first trip to Disney in 4 years. Staying at CBR for the first time. Any last minute tips?

We are going Oct 29-Nov 6. We are also super excited. I've been to Disney a few times but the last time was when I was in my early 20s, which was almost 20 years ago now!! This will be our first family trip and the first time for our daughter. We haven't told her. We are going to surprise her the day we leave. I'm about bursting at the seams to tell her though. lol.

When are you going?

That is a GREAT time to go! You will get to watch Disney transform from the fall/halloween decorations to Christmas decorations! Truly, you will go one day to pumpkins and wake up to Christmas trees! By the 6th, the parks should be 60% completely transformed to Christmas and MK should be 90% transformed since the first Christmas party is the 7th. It is truly amazing at how they can transform the parks the way they do!

Our trip this time is a girls trip September 27th-Oct 3rd. My sweet mama is 82 yrs young and NEVER been to Disney so my sister, my 2 daughters and myself are taking her to experience what we all love so much!

We stayed once at CBR years ago in 1991 before any of the values were built and CBR was considered the value resort at Disney. It was a beautiful resort then and brand new (opened in 1988) and they have done so many updates that I am so excited to experience it again. I don't even remember them having an island back in 1991. This will be our 12th trip to Disney. We have stayed at ASSp twice and ASMo once but when POP on December 14, 2003, we checked in on opening day and never stayed anywhere else after that until now! You can ask me just about anything about POP and I could answer it but I am learning all about CBR for this trip! This thread is amazing and has helped me tremendously!

Have a great trip!!!
