Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

I thought the campfire marshmallow roast was every night. I suppose that is part of the cuts as I noticed it's down to 3 nights in March?

And it's gotten even better now that they have split the resort in half as far as buses go. They now send 2 busses at the same time for a given park. One will pick up at 3 of the stops and the 2nd bus will pick up at the other 4 stops. They started this in November and it's permanent.

I would not say it is permanent at all. Was a CBR from 3/7-3/16 and only had the "Split buses" on the last 3 days of the trip. Most of the trip had one bus come in and do a full circuit around CBR before heading to the parks. It was fine, but it did leave you waiting, or had, for example, 3 AK buses all show up within a matter of 15 minutes.

It will ramp up to every night starting in May. All WDW resorts scale back the nightly movies, the marshmallow roasts or both during the cooler months due to lack of participation. They will do every other day or something like that. But once May comes it will be every night again.

Okay, I should have clarified that it's not like this 100% of the day. But it is done every day, but might not happen during certain parts of the day. We had friends of ours at CBR during the same dates as you, 3/5 - 3/17, and they said that they weren't on a single bus their entire stay that hit every stop. But they are at the parks from rope drop until close.

So it's permanent in that it's not just a seasonal thing.

I also heard the bus transportation is not very good. I have some ADR for some restaurants at 8:30am, don't know which village I'm staying in yet, but what time should I catch the bus to make sure I get there on time? Thanks! :-)
We were there for two weeks last October (resort was fully booked most of the time due to free dining). We never waited more than 5 minutes the whole trip for a bus from the resort to any park. At night leaving the parks, we walked on a bus every single time (we usually left close to closing time though). The only long wait we had was leaving Disney Spring to head back to the resort. It was a 20 minute wait....and every bus line was super long so it wasn't a CBR issue. We loved every minute of our stay and had zero issues!

This is great to know! Thanks for sharing :)

My husband and I are staying in April, I didn't book a preferred room just to get a king bed. We sleep on a queen right now. Since it's just the two if us, would they offer us a king since we don't need the extra bed, since I assume they don't have a room with one queen bed?

Since King rooms are a separate bookable category that is more $$ than a Standard, it is extremely unlikely they will upgrade you to a king.

I'm confused about this statement I didn't book a preferred room just to get a king bed. What do you mean?

preferred room isn't the right term I should have used....special king bed booking.

Does anyone know if CBR has a late checkout? We have a 4pm departure flight.

Checkout is 11:00AM I believe. And a 4:00PM departure flight, if taking DME, would have you on the bus @1:00PM. I know that we asked for later departure when our flight was at 9:30PM, but can't remember if we had a late checkout, but I do know that they held our luggage at the Customs House.

Every WDW resort has the option of late checkout. The latest you can get without paying for another night is 1:00PM. You will have to call housekeeping the day before to find out if a late checkout is possible. Most of the time it is, sometimes it's not.
