Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

Hello!! We just got back last night. I was so sad to leave this beautiful resort. We were in Aruba 54(03) - and it was a pretty good location. We had booked standard and we were close to the parking lot. This worked out well for us though as we could leave quickly in the morning and also get to our room quickly when we returned at night. I had requested Jamaica, 2nd Floor with a trundle bed. The only request we were granted was the trundle bed. The walk to the main pool was about 5-8 minutes or so. It was a beautiful walk so there was no hardship there. The quiet pool in our building was closed for maintenance so that was a little bit of a bummer but didn't taint our experience. We would go back in a heartbeat! :) Thanks for all the advice on this board as I was preparing for our trip - it was very helpful! :) Cheers!

So glad you enjoyed your stay! Thanks for checking back in.

I didn't know they had trundle beds. Or are you referring to the Murphy(bench-like) beds? TIA!

I didn't know they had trundle beds. And they have the bench-type Murphy beds? May I ask if you have any pics? If it's a trundle, there was room for 2 qn beds and the trundle? I would assume then that the trundles are larger than the Murphy beds, right? TIA for any helps! :)

There are no more trundle beds in any of the WDW resort rooms. POR and CBR both have rooms with a Murphy Bed. The Murphy Beds are 63" x 30".

Sorry - maybe Murphy is the proper term for it. My 10 year old slept in and was comfortable as anything. My 13 year old tried it one night and it was not comfortable for him. I have a pic - let me just find it! :)

Thanks for the clarification on the beds, dansdad and cckp72. Hope your trip was wonderful!

So you were upgraded from a King room to a preferred room with the 2 queen beds?
Nope...stayed in a King each time, but once at Trinidad North and last time Martinique. I asked for Jamaica and Aruba, just because we have never stayed in Aruba, and ended up pretty darn close to OPR.

Gotcha. Technically you didn't get upgraded as the King rooms in Trinidad North, Martinique 24, 25 and 26 are classified as King rooms. You got a great room location, but not an upgrade. You got what you paid for. :thumbsup2

I only bring this up as to not confuse anyone reading this thread. There are 3 room types in Trinidad North, Martinique 24, 25 and 26:

Preferred - 2 Queen beds or 2 Queen Beds and 1 Murphy Bed
Water View - 2 Queen beds or 2 Queen Beds and 1 Murphy Bed
King - 1 King Bed or 1 King Bed and 1 Murphy Bed

So if someone books a Water View room they can also request Trinidad North, Martinique 24, 25 or 26. Those locations would be a legitimate request. Whereas if you booked a standard view and requested those locations you would indeed be getting a free upgrade if you were put in one of those buildings. And therefore requesting one of these when booked standard would most likely be a wasted request.

Gotcha...the only reason that I brought this up was because the first couple of times in a King Room, we had a great view of the parking lot. 8-)

I just saw on **************.net that Trinidad South had a food truck near the quiet pool with some breakfast and lunch options back in October. Has anyone seen this recently?

I know it was there the end of December into January. Not sure if it's still there during the "slow" season.

I think that was only there during the bridge construction. We were there in October during the construction and they had the breakfast food truck and pontoon boat and vans to travel to and from opr.

Our friends were there over Christmas and New Years, after the bridge construction was done, and it was there. Also the bridge construction did not affect guests staying in Trinidad South.

Same here. No luck at all. I'm pretty sure I get the OPPOSITE of what I request actually. The only time I've ever got what I requested was when Disney moved us to CSR one year a month before our trip because of a refurb issue at CBR where we were booked, and she put in for the cabanas section. We got a great waterview room. Other than that, calling and putting requests in, faxing, using touringplans fax...nothing. I think maybe I'll start requesting the opposite of what I want:rotfl:

I hear you on this one! Marathon Weekend 2015, I requested Barbados section - that was it. ONE request for what seems on here to be an unpopular location because *gasp* you have to walk to OPR! However, I was going to be getting in late-ish (after 9pm) and really wanted to be able to easily walk to my room - which you CAN do from the Customs House if you're in Barbados. I've done it a few times to drop off luggage, etc. when staying with family.

Got to the front desk and where was I?

JAMAICA 45 with a second floor corner room!

Like, probably the most popular request people could make.

Even though I'm getting there early this upcoming trip, I called and a) had it noted I'm celebrating my birthday, b) requested Barbados section, c) requested second floor, and d) requested corner room. I plan to make Barbados and second floor my online check-in requests. And though I know faxing is debatable, I plan to send in a fax explaining my requests and reasons for them. Short of paying for a Touring Plans subscription (which I would only use for their fax service so there's no way I'm paying what they ask for THAT), I figure that's about all I can do. After that, it's in the hands of the room assigner.

Stayed in Martinique Feb. 15-24. Can report that room 2232 has a murphy bed, is a corner room and connects to room 2231. The fridges in both rooms do not have a freezer.

So about room/location requests, I'm going end of April. I called the hotel to inquire about location etc. She told me when I check in online, leave the requests blank, call the hotel back April 10th and then tell them my requests. Anyone else have this experience??

Never heard of this. It sounds like either she didn't know what she was talking about (sadly not unusual) or didn't...I will give her the benefit of the doubt here...know how to enter requests so this was her way to save face and (hopefully) pass it off to someone else when you call back. (My gut says she just didn't want to be bothered and/or felt like she was under time pressure to get more calls answered so she blew you off. But hey, it's the weekend. I'll be nice and go with "she's new and doesn't know how yet". Ignoring that something like that should have been covered in her training.)

There is absolutely no legitimate reason a CM cannot put requests on the reservation the moment it is made.

Yeah, there are some phone CMs that are mistakenly under the impression that you have to wait until 10 days before you arrive to make requests. Whenever I get one of them I say thank you, hang up, call back and then put my requests in. Requests can be made anytime from the day you book up until 5-6 days out.

Just an FYI, you weren't actually talking to someone at CBR. All numbers found online for individual resorts route to a Central Call Center. Depending on what number you came in on, the phone CMs will answer like they are at the resort. Even when you hit the "Front Desk" button on the phone in the room, you get routed to the Call Center.

Interesting. Thanks for the reply. This is our first Disney trip, so def a newbie here. So I should call back? I mentioned I wanted to be close to OPR. She said did you book preferred, I said it wasn't available, but from what I understand there are buildings that are "standard" that are close. Then she told me to call back the 10 days before. So I guess I'll call again! Ohhh but would you leave the online requests blank??
