Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Everything I have seen from this retheming has been poor. It's unfortunate because on paper the changes generally sound good, e.g. putting a coffee shop in the lobby, but everything so far looks like a generic hotel. Also, why was no refill station added in the coffee shop?
I really can't believe they didn't add a refill station. It seems like a no-brainer. That is one of the main complaints from those who have stayed here. BWI is in our top 2 favorites, but we never get the refillable mugs when we stay at BWI.

I haven't been on in a while, but I wanted to come in and add that I too do not like the design of the new coffee shop.

Got booked today for a 1 Bedroom Std View in August. Usually we get a Boardwalk/Pool View but the friend who we rent points from didn't have enough points for this. Can anyone tell me if there are any Std 1 Bedrooms that overlook the middle green area? I know we have had Studios in the past that did but unsure about the 1 Bedrooms.

According to the resort map and TP, it looks like the 1 BR Standards are all in Bldg 2 which does not overlook that area. It kind of skews off in a different direction. There are a few pool views and some views of the porte cochere. Most of the rooms look out towards the Skyliner. I've been looking myself since I have a 1 BR Standard booked for May.

Well Dang... Oh well. Just happy to stay here again!

Not sure if the latest details for the Inn refurb are posted here or not. I did a glance over the last few pages and didn't notice anything so I'll give what I found out a couple days ago

Unfortunately, I've forgotten the exact start date, just late Jan/early Feb sometime
They are starting on all floors from the bank of elevators towards the "skyliner" or front of the resort. Taking them all down, out of commission at once.
Then on March 11 (I know this date specifically as it fell when I was hoping we could return) they will close all the other half the Inn side, from the elevator bank towards the water. Which includes the CL.
I guess things can always go awry and a date could push that 2nd half but that's the plan they have as of 2 days ago at least. Close half at a time.

You should think about joining TP. It's a yearly subscription for $17.95. It's a great tool for planning WDW trips and it has hotel views. You can also request a particular room through their website. Nothing is guaranteed mind you but I've done pretty well getting the room I wanted.

Thank you. This timeline matches with club level room availability. I was looking at a trip for flower and garden

Any idea if the lobby will be refurbed during this time as well? Would make sense I suppose...

It was not mentioned specifically
I suppose eventually it would be since everything else under the roof is.
but then again we are talking about disney so

I have a trip end of June into the weekend of the 4th... dvc points. So the lobby isn't that important...just don't do anything to the nanny chairs...Ultimately the only thing that concerns me is access to bell vue lounge...love sitting on the couches after a long day in the parks with a double.

okay that's disturbing... i have an Inn reservation for the 27th of March. Is Disney going to relocate me somewhere? if the entire inn is closed where is my room?

Based on this info, it sounds like half of the Inn side will be closed at a time, so for late March you would be placed in a room on the Inn side facing the resort entrance. Presumably, WDW has decreased bookings accordingly…

No. specifically stated in the final sentence that half will close at a time
maybe I wasn’t clear
I said, half the resort will close first. From the elevator bank to the front.
Then the other half will close, from the elevator back to the water
at no time will the entire resort be closed

is there any standard deluxe studio (villa Standard view) that have 2 queen beds instead of one queen and one sofabed?

Obviously not everyone cheering was staying at BWI/BWV, but a big shout out to those that were out on the DHS path and boardwalk cheering on WDW Marathon runners yesterday. That was the final miles of the course and energy was electric... definitely needed it at that point!

I know those races can be inconvenient for resort guests, especially the Marathon as that's the one race that extends materially into a park day, but it sure was great to see so many out cheering.
