Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

I just received an e-mail that there will be construction going on during my trip the beginning of May at the Boardwalk Villas:

"Walt Disney once spoke of how his creations would never be complete as long as there is imagination left in the world. It is in this spirit that we embarked on several refurbishment projects across the Resort that will be taking place during your visit. In preparation for your upcoming stay, we wanted to make you aware of the following impacts:

Upon your arrival, you will see and hear work in progress as we renovate Disney's BoardWalk Villas for your future enjoyment.

You will also notice Cast Members conducting routine exterior painting and balcony maintenance throughout the Resort."

Does anyone have any more information about this :confused3

We have stayed during rehabs in 2015..and 2016...and really didn't find most of the work going on to be obtrusive..out side of a few construction..pardon our appearance.. walls ...but...

Got an email in 2015, 2016 and now hearing they are still coming in 2017!

That is some paint job!

We're planning a summer BW stay..would be nice if there was not construction 3rd year running....???!!!!! It's got to be done at some point doesn't it...lol...

Does anyone know if the Boardwalk Ballyhoo Tour is being ofered once again?? We did it once..and loved it...and would love to be able to add that into our summer plans....but...there doesn't seem to be any current info available.... :scratchin

I just got that exact same info. Perhaps I'm mistaken but I thought the room renos were done.
I will also be at BWI Mid May (15-21) and got the same email It stated they were routine exterior painting and balcony maintenance throughout the Resort. Also, You may also see and hear work in progress as we renovate Disney's BoardWalk Villas. I thought all the renovations were complete, but I guess not.

We're going to be at BWI at about the same time -- also a Mom and DD trip to celebrate her college graduation -- but did not receive an e-mail about painting, etc. We stayed at BWI 3 times in 2016 and they were painting on the BWI the first two visits, but had switched over to BWV by the December visit. I thought BWI was done.

Congratulations to your daughter!

I stayed at the BWI last week from March 18 - 23. There was no maintenance or painting going on at all on the BWI side. The day we were leaving, I saw them setting up to paint exteriors on the villa side at the entrance where buses, taxis, etc. come in. We enjoyed a perfect few days of sunshine and relaxation at this beautiful resort.

Interesting. When we were there the first weekend in March (4th - 8th) , they were painting on the inn side of the entrance, next to the covered walkway to the bus stop.

Disneys own version of the Winchester Mystery House

Is there a place to get aloe gel for a sunburn near Boardwalk? I already checked the Screendoor and Dundys Sundries and they only have Solarcaine.

Hello. We are going to have our first stay at Boardwalk in July. We are taking my sister and her son, DH, DD(21) and myself--- so we will be 4 adults and 1 child. We have booked a standard room with 2 Queens and 1 Daybed. Does anyone have a picture of the daybed open? It may be used by my daughter and I want to be sure it will work for her.

Looks like Disney is not stocking it. I would try the shops at Swan and Dolphin as you are most likely to get a different selection there. Or the gas station.

For the aloe gel: you can try TurnerDrug.com. If they have what you want, they will deliver to a Disney hotel for $7.50.

What is this?

I received the same email before my trip in February. There was some exterior painting going on but nothing disruptive.

Did you ask the front desk? They usually stock this in the CL rooms, so they might have some.

Is she tall? Taller than 5'5"? she might have to scrunch her legs a bit if she is. I don't have a picture from BWI. My son fit on it comfortably last year and he was 5'3" last year, this year he is 5'6" and I think he would be a bit too tall.

If you are in the Inn and it is the regular daybed, she should be fine. The daybed is not the same as the murphy bed. I have slept on the day bed and I'm 5'11".

Oh gosh that is an excellent point. I'm sorry. You are right. I was thinking of the murphy bed on the villa side. I could sleep on the daybed as well and I'm 5'10"!
