Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

We just returned Saturday night. No signs of construction while we were there around the villas or village green area (I never went into the center courtyard area of the inn). There is one of those big machines that the painters use tucked in the corner as you come down the stairs and out onto the boardwalk but we never saw it being used (even during mid-day) and there was scaffolding on all floors of the Villa side opposite the Swan/Dolphin waterway - directly facing the waterway, but again no construction taking place. Nothing around the clown or quiet pools. The croquet lawn was ripped up and new sod was being put down, but no big deal.

The boardwalk area was all open. No scaffolding there. Not sure if they are done or took a break for Thanksgiving week.

I didn't even know about the gingerbread decorating. I did notice that the gingerbread house was not set up in the lobby and thought that was interesting. Wonder if that is the reason they did away with it. It usually went up the Tuesday or Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

Hello all!

We've been here a couple of days now and it's a warm 86 degrees. The studio is fantastic! Plenty of room for us and nice views of the DHS canal and the Swan and Dolphin. Much better than I was expecting as a standard view!

No gingerbread house. It's apparently been replaced with the build it yourself and take home variety. The impression I got is you build it in your room but as always I could have misunderstood. It doesn't start until December.

We arrived just before 6 pm and parking was nonexistent. DH chose to valet park.

Belle Vue lounge is open at 6:30 for coffee and continental type breakfast. They had a bacon egg and cheese croissant as well. The bakery outside has a much better variety including biscuits and gravy.

:offtopic: We did eat at Ohana! The grilled shrimp and chicken were delicious. DH said he didn't want dessert, but I wanted to try a bite so I asked for it. Good thing I only wanted a bite because after his first "taste" he devoured it! Not an every trip visit but definitely going back!!

Let me know if I can answer any questions!

Yee Haa! Just booked my first stay at The Boardwalk June 18-23 to celebrate our 20th anniversary. It will be a trip of a lot of firsts...First time at an Epcot resort, first time staying club level, and first time without our kids.

So between now and then I am going to devour every post in this thread!

Congrats!! You will love the BWI CL, and after five minutes of missing the kids you will be amazed at how great Disney is without the kids. The BWI is a great resort for an adults only trip, happy planning.

I have a parking lot question for those who stay here frequently. I plan on driving my mom back to her resort after illuminations on our first night at BWV. We will be driving while she will be flying and I have some things for her to take back to her room. I'm thinking I will probably return to BWV around 10:45-11:00 on a Sunday night. Do you think there will be parking available at that time? I would really hate to have to pay for valet parking at the resort I'm a guest in.

You should be fine. Epcot closes at 9:00, which means that all the people who parked at the BWI "illegally" and then walked to Epcot will have left by then. My guess is that you will find the lot half full at the time you plan to park.

Hi Liz!

We leave this Saturday for a WL/BWV split stay. What have the evening temps been like? We live in Colorado and it's been cold here.. Just wondering if a sweater or light fleece type jacket is good for evening??

Glad to hear you like the studio, we are so excited about our first BWV stay coming up!

Bummer about the parking situation, we are renting a car is time instead of using magical express, hoping it won't be an issue.

Hope you have a great time!

Lows have been in the upper 60s to lower 70s. This morning it's lower 70s. I personally haven't taken a jacket in the evenings but I switch out my sandals for shoes and socks!

There is a storm system that is supposed to move through toward the end of next week. If it actually makes it lows could drop into the 40s. We've been watching it to see if we will have to drive through it on the way home and seems to have slowed down.

Parking is hit or miss here. We drove around a bit looking for a spot. Since it was dark and we were tired we chose not to track something down. Paying for parking is required in a lot of places we stay. You may have better luck!

Hope you and everyone else enjoys upcoming stays! Christmas at WDW is the best!

As TinkerBellLiz notes the weather channel is predicting that a front will go through late next week which will bring lows into the 40's. Add in the usual breezy conditions and it can feel a bit chilly. We enjoy our hoodies on late evenings and rope drop mornings.

We always rented a car for our BWI trips and found that about half the time we returned to the hotel we would end up having to valet park. Whether it is activities at the on site conference center or just folks parking at the Boardwalk the self park lot can fill up. Not much one can do other than budget for the occasional valet fee.

Wishing you a magical Christmas visit!

Thanks so much to you and @TinkerBellLiz! That helps a lot. Hoping the front they are predicting will hold off until Thurdsay of next week when we leave! But otherwise, a cold or rainy day at Disney is better than any other day at home!

Good to know, thanks so much ! :wave2:

Has the parking situation deteriorated in the last few months? Even though there has been a note regarding parking on the Disney website for some time now, I haven't had an issue getting a space for my car on check in day. I usually check in around 5pm on a Tuesday. I don't move the car once it's parked, so I'm not concerned about in and out. But I'm one of those people who doesn't let anyone (family, friends or strangers) drive my car, so valet won't work for me. Has it really become that big of a concern?

Looking at some of the recent posts, it appears that parking was tight during the Thanksgiving holiday week. In August, we never had any trouble. We arrive in a couple of weeks, but aren't renting a car for this trip. I would expect that as we approach the really busy holiday season, parking will get tight again. I believe, however, that you can self-park in the overflow parking across the street (on the same side as the Speedway gas station), so you shouldn't have to valet even if the main parking area is full. These first couple of weeks of December are not traditionally busy weeks, so parking shouldn't be a problem now. Not sure when you arrive. That's just my two cents.

I'm checking in on Tuesday, January 3rd, to be there for the marathon. I'm hoping my check in day fits between people who check out after the holiday and before most marathoners who may be arriving Wednesday or Thursday. So it will be busier than I am used to.

I know that when we were there in October, we had to park in the lot opposite the convention center. I think there was a big event going on at the time

Last time we were there we parked in the lot by the guard shack. We were told when there is a convention the lot across from the convention center is for conventioneers only. Not saying this is true just what we were told at the gate. It's a long walk from the lot by the guard shack, uphill both ways in the snow. My question is why is the valet lot the closest?

When was the last time in snowed in Orlando?
