Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

We got a magical upgrade to the cottages on our last stay there. I was truly spoiled. That being said, we were in 1205 and that one is slightly different than the others - it still has the stairs, but the bedroom is a full bedroom on the second floor (no loft) and it had a patio on the first floor and a full covered balcony on the second floor off of the bedroom. The 1/2 bath downstairs was a bit roomier than the pictures that I have seen of the other cottages. It was directly across from the quiet pool and I really enjoyed it. It was a hike to the lounge, but I really didn't care - the quiet and beauty made it totally worth it!

By the way, there's not much point in a room request online for the cottages, is there? None of the options will really apply, will they?
I mean,
There is no Boardwalk view
There is no near elevator
There is no floor to pick
Well if you request close to elevator that might get you a cottage closer to where you can go inside to the elevator or walk up the big outside staircase. But the other choices wouldn't apply.

Enjoy!

I saw on the overview linked in page 1 that there are 2 different from the others. What size bed was in the bedroom upstairs? One of the #1 reasons I wanted to try it out on this trip was the King bed. We are staying at CSR for the rest of our trip because Mod is the only category I can book a King bed

In cottage 1205, it was a very nice and comfy king size bed. I was a spoiled Princess on my last trip, but I'm still trying to convince my DH that the cottage is a worthwhile expense for the next trip. I don't think he is going to go for it though! We were so spoiled by the surprise cottage upgrade and the exceptional service in the lounge that we both had tears in our eyes as we left the hotel to go home. This was our first time staying at BWI and it will not be our last. The room was exceptionally clean and service spectacular. It was truly a 5 star experience.

Have developed some lower back issues that made me rethink my Wilderness Lodge reservation. Just changed to BWI for 3/11-3/15. It's my younger daughter's college spring break. I feel like transportation to and from the studios is better and we plan on doing both F! this time and the Star Wars fireworks. We normally stay on the monorail loop but I thought since we were focusing more on the other parks this might be better

I can check-in online in 9 days!:bounce:

Does anyone know what the different possible requests are during on-line check-in? We are staying in a standard view, 1-bedroom villa, booked directly through Disney. Thanks!

I had the same question...our online check in is in a couple of weeks. Anyone know the choices?

They list different floors (2nd-5th),highest floor, ground floor, near elevator, near lobby, Boardwalk view(but standard rooms don't count for this choice). I think that was it or at least all I can recall right now.

Oops sorry that's for the inn side. Don't really know about the villa choices.

Never stayed at BWI before. Planning a last minute vacation - not a whole lot available. Below is my reservation. Any thoughts on this room / location?

Disney's BoardWalk Inn
Room Type: Outer Bldg - Garden Room - Club Level Access

These are the cottages that previous posters are discussing. Also great pictures on pg. 1 of the thread. Personally, I'd love to try one out

Great choice!
It is one of the two-stories garden cottages with CL access.

How long will you stay?

Great! I had no idea what it was - this was one of the only choices available, so I took it. We are coming for the Star Wars 1/2 marathon. We managed to get a race spot. Usually stay at AKL but didn't want to be so remote.

To hopefully try to answer a question I've seen over the last two pages (and to ask one of my own):

I hit my 60 day window 2 days ago and made my FP+ and also did online check-in. I've got a standard view 1 bedroom villa on rented points.

When you enter the online check-in process, the first question is arrival and departure times - the time you expect to arrive at the hotel and the time you expect to leave on the day of departure. I chose arrival of 11:00am.

Then options provided at online check-in for me are (again, for a standard view 1 bedroom villa on rented points):
  • ground floor
  • upper floor
  • lower floor
  • near lobby
  • near elevator
  • pool view
Also, and probably because I said we'd be arriving early at 11am, there is an optional check box that says "Arriving early? Check here if having your room ready for early arrival is a higher priority than any of the requests you have selected."

I hope that helps someone. Now my question: POOL VIEW???? I was under the impression that no standard 1 bedroom villas have a pool view, only of the front parking, tennis courts, and that little pond with the fountain. Anybody know what I can expect to get if I choose Pool View? Thanks...

Every single person gets the same choices. So if you haven't booked a pool view and select that as one of your requests, it will be a wasted request.

One other question: I've read in this thread about standard view villas closer to the lobby being right near the luggage loading area near the entrance and it can be noisy and disturbing.

Last time we stayed at the Boardwalk we had a 3rd floor Boardwalk View in the Crest O The Wave section. I've also seen people complain about the noise especially at night, but it didn't bother us at all. I understand luggage trucks backing up are a decidedly different noise than the Boardwalk revelers, but I don't know if I should actively avoid this with my room requests (we would like a higher floor and close to the elevator, which puts us in luggage loading land).

Any further opinions on how annoying (or not) the luggage loading area noise would be vs the Boardwalk view noise?

Thanks again for a great thread everyone

I decided to not make any requests right away, especially since once you make a choice you can't change it. Booked standard view room as we won't be spending a huge amount of time in the room. Any suggestions? Does close to elevator equate close to exit to Boardwalk?

Yes the elevators are near the lobby which is where you exit to the BW or to get the buses in the front of the resort.
