Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Hi all,

Well it is down to hours (48) until we are off for our first (of hopefully many to come) daddy/daughter trips to Disney at Christmastime. :) When filling out the room request info online I requested 4th floor and boardwalk view and was curious if that was a good choice? We have a standard view room so not totally sure what is meant by "boardwalk view" but i figured I would put it just in case it is a better standard view? Any info on what we might end up with based on those requests would be appreciated.

Thanks

Oh yeah, i forgot to mention in last post that it is our first time at Boardwalk (have stayed at Yacht club, ASM and POR past trips) so any general info would also be appreciated.

Thanks

I think the 4th floor boardwalk side of the BWI is all Innkeeper's Club rooms. If you are club level, that request will make sense. If not, what is it that you're wanting to achieve with your request? If you let us know, we can try to help you revise your on-line request.

Great quick review.
I too fell in love with BWI on our first stay in Oct.
So much so that we booked for there again (villa side) for a 6 day trip next week and DH and I are back again for a 1 night quicky on 1/2.

Thanks Angi.. :goodvibes I am happy to share our experiences..and enjoy reading all about other people's trips too! That's what is so nice about these boards! How nice to have two BW trip coming up!! :woohoo: Lucky you!

One of them even has my name, I don't know if that's good or bad!

Lol...I'm not sure ..........:cool2:....

Sounds like a terrific tradition to start! :thumbsup2 I am by no means a BW expert....but I do think that BW view is a particular bookable room category....being that the resort is pretty spread out....I would suggest requests that might meet your needs...such as close to elevator, quiet room location...??? As Sandi said maybe by sharing your preferences..the BW vets can guide you on what to request....

Oh yeah, i forgot to mention in last post that it is our first time at Boardwalk (have stayed at Yacht club, ASM and POR past trips) so any general info would also be appreciated.

Some suggestions would be to just enjoy all that the BW area has to offer...Bellevue lounge has great ambiance...comfy seating...and in the evenings the radios play vintage radio shows...There are lots of nice places to just sit and enjoy..the large veranda facing the board walk area has rocking chairs...also..boardwalk Joe's has some great frozen alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages.....there is some thing called the Captains Seaside Senation..and it was sensational!! ...frozen pineapple smoothie...with a shot of Capt Morgan's spiced rum in it.... I would highly recommend it..:drinking1..and there is an equally delicious pineapple smoothie...maybe a little father daughter time sipping some smoothies...and enjoying the sights and sounds of Crescent Lake...oh and...since in our world it always about the food....at the Boardwalk to go Stand...there are fried mac and cheese bites! A nice pairing...lol.....!!! and remember there is no calorie counting at Disney! :wizard:

Just a few suggestions...HTH....

I am sure that there are some veterans that will be along with a lot more ideas....there really is soooo much to do and see ....Have a great trip! :goodvibes

Adding to Blueskies' suggestion about Bellevue, when my DD was younger, she used to love to go to Bellevue and play checkers and other games with me. She is now 21 and still my Disney travel buddy (DH just doesn't love Disney and will stay home to take care of the cats). I was really surprised she wanted to play checkers when Epcot was a 5 minute walk away, but it was excellent quality time with her. Enjoying those small things makes our trips very memorable.

Thanks to all for the great ideas. I think I will definatly try some of them out. As to the room request I was just hoping for a higher floor with at least a decent view so hopefully it works out. If not the location is so great the view is not a dealbreaker to me. I thought I had heard the 4th floor was good so that is why I chose it. I actually just tried to change it online to high floor boardwalk view but it won't let me change it I assume because we are arriving there in 2 days Thanks again to all who have given advice.

Actually you can't ever change your online check in options. Once you check the box and confirm it all they are greyed out and you can not unclick them

Hope you get a great room you love. If you don't ask for a different one. If they can they'll move you

I'm able to "modify" my check-in and to "edit" my room requests. Maybe it is because he is checking in in 2 days and I still have 9.

No, that can't be it. I have never been able to change my check in choices. I check in for 1 trip in 8 days and another trip in 20 days and I can't edit either of them. There must be something different about your MDE account. If you search here you'll find lots of folks who can't alter their online check in choices. I believe that is the norm and your situation is a "glitch". Though I venture to guess most here would rather have this glitch.

I'm a glitch too :) I have been able to modify multiple times (yes, I'm a hopeless changer after all)

6 days, checked in, but I need the weather fairy to work some magic! Coming from Indiana, I was hoping for better that 60's and low 70's. First time at the Boardwalk! Telling the girls on the way to the airport.

Trust me, coming from your weather, 60s and 70s will feel mighty nice. I've been walking around at night in shorts and a t-shirt wrote comfortably.

I did the online check in for the first time, putting arrival time as 11am, I know the time isn't guaranteed. We checked in today at 11am. We're still waiting for our text with our room number. Since our DD is "dying" (she's a teenager), DH went ask about the room & for an estimated time. He was told 3pm :worried:; which is standard check in time. What's the point of asking for a time you're going to be there if when you ask about room that's the answer you get? Don't get me wrong, as I sit in the lobby, I'm so happy to be here, but really I would love to get that text or I might strangle the teenager! Kidding.

IIRC standard check in time is 4PM or did they change it. And even the 4PM wasn't a hard time it could be later then that according to DVC policy.

I just arrived back this past week from a quick trip which in included 3 days 2 nights at the CL at BWI! It was everything as described and more. They set the bar super high for any CL and blows the BC CL out of the water. I didn't even need dinner reservations the offerings were so darn good.

We're staying on the Inn side and it has a 3pm check in. We're still in lobby waiting, lol. I fed our grumpy teen some snacks, less grumpy now.
