Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Checking in 1 week from today. Where would you suggest for a lunch in the BW area the day of our 1/2 marathon? I was thinking of grabbing something at the Boardwalk Bakery. DW isn't so sure. Maybe we'll try lunch at Swan/Dolphin.

I second jlundeen's suggestion of the Big River Grill.

ESPN is another choice for burgers and stuff, as long as it's not a football Saturday or Sunday because then it'll be packed. We like Beaches and Cream, but now that it's on the ADR system it may be tough for a walk-in.

In the Dolphin for lunch food, we liked Fountains the one time we tried it.

There's an election going on at the BWI: a CM creative pumpkin design contest in the lobby. Guests vote on ballots with four categories. All of the carved/decorated pumpkins are fun, some are truly inventive. Cool.

Take some pictures if you can! Enjoy! :)

I have a question for you BW experts. We have a standard view booked for an upcoming weekend, and after looking at touringplans I see that on floors 3, 4, and 5 there are 4 rooms each that face the back of the hotel/BW area but are classified as standard view because they are so far back towards the hotel exit/patio off of the lobby. They are rooms 5279, 5281, 5283, 5285, and the respective rooms on floors 4 and 3. My question is - if I were to request one of these how would I phrase that on my reservation?

Just returned from a 2 nt stay at Boardwalk for Food & Wine. My DD and I arrived at the resort around 10:15am (she lives in Orlando), we had no trouble at all parking in the lot. We were walking into the lobby with our bags since we were just going to leave them at bell services till our room was ready. DD had done online check in and decided to check her phone as we were walking in and there was the text that our room was ready, at 10:15am. Sweet! Went right up and dropped off our bags and off to Epcot. The only down side to the resort this weekend was the bus service. We waited Saturday afternoon at Magic Kingdom for about 30 minutes for the Boardwalk bus. Y&BC bus had 2 buses come and go while we waited. A little later we waited at the Boardwalk for the bus to Disney Springs (Downtown Disney). We had 4 buses that read Training and 2 Epcot (really ?) before the Disney Spring bus arrived. That bus is still sharing with Swan & Dolphin.

Thanks for posting about your stay. I think the buses (and the monorail for that matter) become less and less reliable every visit. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to when one bus will come Vs. another. I thought that the resort buses were dispatched on-demand by the parks themselves, so that must have something to do with it. There must be something behind the scenes going on when you've got several of the same bus in a row with lines growing and growing for the bus that never seems to come.

Hi, I have booked to stay at BWI for 4 nights in Jan, kids really wanted to try that clown slide.
Anyhow have read the pool will be closed during our visit.
Will they let us use the pool at the Yacht or Beach club because of the closure?
I am thinking the weather could be a bit cool, but the kids won't care.
Ty
Thank you for asking this question because I didn't know it was going to be closed. In the past, when the feature pool was closed, they did allow BWI/BWV guests to use SAB. I believe they even had a golf cart-type shuttle?

Touring Plans is reporting Jan. 11 - Feb. 2.

Thanks so much, @dansdad. I'm going to add those dates to the first page.

So hopefully when they stopped sharing with the Swan and Dolphin they didn't just half the number of busses for each...

They wouldn't be that sneaky, would they? Of course they would or you wouldn't have asked that question;)

Do you know if they have the wait boards up at BW yet? The boards that say minutes to next bus? Weber so ancy we usually. About it.

I always have room anxiety....My recommendation is to always put your most important request first...list it on your ressie...and then be sure to follow up with IPO about two weeks before your trip...:wizard: Hope that we both get our requests....I have one veeeery important one...near the lounge!!! lol..Its always about the food...See ya soon! :goodvibes

I hope you get your request - I think your diligence will pay off;)

A first-class salute to Boardwalk Inn's Innkeeper's Club's CMs: Jackie, Pete, Lorenzo, Anita, Scott, Michael et. al. A great group, to be sure!

All the best! :thumbsup2

Sounds like you had a great stay:)

All rooms at BWI are classified as Standard View, with the exception of rooms directly facing the BoardWalk. I would probably request a room ending in 79, 81, 83 or 85 on floor 3, 4 or 5 or pick one floor you prefer and request the entire room number, I would choose 5.

Thanks for jogging my memory on names. Jackie helped us with a situation on check out day with an item that was broken and delivered to our room. She was absolutely fantastic.

We had a standard view for concierge, but did put in a request to have a "boardwalk view" and this is what we got:

It wasn't the "best" view for the boardwalk side, but we really really enjoyed it over the garden view we were expecting!

For comparison, from our honeymoon trip - this is the Boardwalk View that we upgraded to:

...and the same view as that last video from the BACKSIDE OF WATER! (hope you catch the WDW reference there)

The Club Level rooms at BWI are actually Standard rooms not views and can be either BWV or SV. The views are by-request, but not guaranteed. Just clarifying because it can be rather confusing that you can't book a CL view at BWI, WL and CR's Tower Club, but you can request one.

Thanks for posting more videos and there's nothing better than the back side of water, unless you're in de-Nile (which goes on for niles and niles...). LOVE that ride!

Wow! Love the video's, thank you for posting them. Do you remember the room number for the first video? I assume that room is in one of the new club level rooms outside of the Innkeeper door. I'm glad the Friendship boat is docked during that storm, it looks like the water could have been pretty nasty to be going across!

Yes, they did use golf carts in the past. We saw them taking guests back and forth from SAB when we stayed at the BC in the past and the BW pool was closed.

The 2nd video...and the storm video were both taken during our honeymoon trip (April 2012). It's a 3rd level room, not a Club Level. The first video was just last week on the 4th floor in the Club Level. It was our first Club Level stay.
