Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

...so onto another note. I'm sitting on my couch after a stay at the Boardwalk Resort. We had an absolute blast staying on the Concierge Level.

Here's a video view from our room on the 4th floor:

One of the main reasons we stay at the Boardwalk Resort is the short walking distance from EPCOT. For those who haven't stayed at Boardwalk who are wondering how long it takes to get to EPCOT from the Boardwalk Resort, I took a video to show some friends of mine back home....and even better... I happened to walk past the wedding carriage while still on Boardwalk property:

If you have any questions... hit me up! I just got home today!

The video of you walking to the IG is great for those wondering what the walk is like. I also love the carriage and ponies, I assume it was for a wedding - so magical! I'm going to post your video to the first page - thank you!

Your room view looks awfully familiar:scratchin. Were you in 4261?

Were you in room 4263 by any chance? We had the same room last month!

We asked for a Boardwalk view if possible... and got it!

We had a great time... this was our first time on Club Level, and absolutely loved that too!
We're going in 20 days, I cannot wait!!! I'm trying to decide what to recommend for my room. I'll be club level as well. :) I really want a king bed though. Maybe I should just ask for that.

I cannot wait. I love your videos and your excitement about your stay.
We are going to BWI CL for the first time in early December, and not knowing what to request is driving me crazy since I know exactly what I want at GF and have always been fortunate to get what I want! I requested a king bed with a BW view if possible, but I've heard the BW side is noisy, so now I'm getting scared of that. But we don't go to bed early, so is noise really a problem? Also, I know there aren't that many king beds, but I don't want a really long walk to the lounge either! VBChristy, I quoted your post because it sounds like you want the same things that I want so let me know what you find out, ok? Any advice that anyone can give would be much appreciated because if DH doesn't have a good time, it will be even harder to get him to stray from GF...he does like BC;) TIA

Nope... but the neighboring room, 4263! I would have loved the next room over though, it had a little better view of the lake than our room (had to peer over the wall that direction a little bit)

I see so many people ask about the walk - how long is it? can you do it all trip and not get tired? Well I figured the best way to show off the walk would be to video tape it at regular speed and let people judge for themselves! ;)

The Boardwalk isn't terribly loud.

They have entertainment on the Boardwalk (street performers) that have music that plays, but they're done by 10-10:30'ish. We've had a Boardwalk view on two trips, and neither time did I have any complaints about outside noise. If you're a very light sleeper and go to bed at 8pm every night? Maybe... but you're also high up enough that I don't think most of the noise makes it to the room. The only thing I personally noticed was Friendship Boats in the morning, but, I was normally semi-awake at that point waiting for my wife to shower while I attempted to grab an extra 20-30min of sleep after her alarm already went off. I don't think they would have woke me up by themselves.

The Boardwalk itself empties out around 11pm. I went down on Friday night to take some night pictures, and there were maybe a dozen people out and about on the Boardwalk around 10:45-11pm

It can depend on the time of the year. I went in June one time and had a room above Big River on the second floor. It was well past midnight and people were out on the boardwalk carrying on. I heard one woman scream "people are trying to sleep up here!". I've never had that problem during December trips.

Big River closes at 11pm, so it's surprising people were hanging around outside there. I know Jellyrolls and the Piano bar stay open later, but I never really noticed people coming from their on either of my trips on the Boardwalk side of the hotel... but I've also always been on the other side of the Boardwalk. We stayed above Cat Cora's and now facing the Boardwalk Courtyard on the Boardwalk side.

Just returned from a 2 nt stay at Boardwalk for Food & Wine. My DD and I arrived at the resort around 10:15am (she lives in Orlando), we had no trouble at all parking in the lot. We were walking into the lobby with our bags since we were just going to leave them at bell services till our room was ready. DD had done online check in and decided to check her phone as we were walking in and there was the text that our room was ready, at 10:15am. Sweet! Went right up and dropped off our bags and off to Epcot. The only down side to the resort this weekend was the bus service. We waited Saturday afternoon at Magic Kingdom for about 30 minutes for the Boardwalk bus. Y&BC bus had 2 buses come and go while we waited. A little later we waited at the Boardwalk for the bus to Disney Springs (Downtown Disney). We had 4 buses that read Training and 2 Epcot (really ?) before the Disney Spring bus arrived. That bus is still sharing with Swan & Dolphin.

We had the same experience with the MK and DS buses while we were there last week...once at the resort going to MK was at least 30 minutes, and once from MK to resort was well over 30 minutes...DS buses were also few and far between an had additional stops before going on to Disney Springs. Also, the electronic board was only working one of the 8 days we were there. There was a cast member in the morning announcing which busses were on the way. When you are tired and your feet and legs are screaming, 30 minutes is an extremely long time.

Hi, I have booked to stay at BWI for 4 nights in Jan, kids really wanted to try that clown slide.
Anyhow have read the pool will be closed during our visit.
Will they let us use the pool at the Yacht or Beach club because of the closure?
I am thinking the weather could be a bit cool, but the kids won't care.

Where did you read the pool would be closed? Going in Nov and then again in Feb and I hope not!

So hopefully when they stopped sharing with the Swan and Dolphin they didn't just half the number of busses for each...

There is frequent discussion on the BC&YC thread about the smell in the lobby...but I think the BW lobby also has a distinct smell...

Anyone else think it smells like cotton candy?:P

Checking in 1 week from today. Where would you suggest for a lunch in the BW area the day of our 1/2 marathon? I was thinking of grabbing something at the Boardwalk Bakery. DW isn't so sure. Maybe we'll try lunch at Swan/Dolphin.

Do you know if they have the wait boards up at BW yet? The boards that say minutes to next bus? Weber so ancy we usually. About it.

The board was up, but it was only working on the one of the 4-5 days we used the buses.

The board was up while we were there (10/1-9/15) but was only functioning on one day. :confused3

Thanks Trishadono! I've done one with my oldest and one with my youngest. You can imagine how the middle child is milking his lack of mom trip. LOL:drinking:

Dispro Out trips are almost here!!!! :dance3: I always have room anxiety....My recommendation is to always put your most important request first...list it on your ressie...and then be sure to follow up with IPO about two weeks before your trip...:wizard: Hope that we both get our requests....I have one veeeery important one...near the lounge!!! lol..Its always about the food...See ya soon! :goodvibes
