I was charged an extra $5 more per bag when I dropped off my luggage to be taken to the airport. They did ask me how much I paid when I did the online check in at home, but I couldn't recall as it was over 14 days before.

When I got home I found out I had paid an extra $5 per bag.

Has this happened to anyone else? Do they make you pay the non online check in fee? Just trying to figure out how come I was charged more than I should have been.

1) Disney does not have bag check-in.
2) This is BAGS, which is a separate company.
3) All they are doing is charging for airline fees.
4) If there is an adjustment, you get it later.

I believe they are charging the fees the airline would charge if you checked in at the airport.

I paid mine online ahead of time and they had to call Airtran to confirm I had paid it already. If you already paid they should have been able to contact your airline and determine that.

Sometimes the online price for bag check is a better deal than the "at the airport" price. I would imagine BAGS would have to charge the "at the airport" price.

I'm going to move this to our transportation board.

Call your airline. This seems really odd. How did BAGS, Inc., charge you extra for your checked luggage? Did you give them a credit card? Why would they even care how much you paid? Just the fact that you paid should have been sufficient. Sounds like the airline messed up.

Depending on which airline you fly, it may be that you were given a discount on your trip to Disney. Delta gives you a discount on your checked bags if you check them in on-line when you check-in the day before. Unfortunately that discount isn't available when using BAGS to check-in your luggage for the return flight. So for our last flight we paid $23/bag for the trip to Disney and $25/bag for the return. Maybe the airline doing this since we were not charged an extra fee for using BAGS.

I double checked Alaska's baggage fees and they don't offer any discount for online check in.

BAGS charged me $20 per bag and Alaska charges $15 per bag. Yes, I had to give them my credit card when I gave them the two bags to check.

Tip-I originally booked the flight with Delta but it's operated by Alaska. I found out the morning I tried to check in before my flight to MCO that I had to check in with Alaska. At first I was worried that I would be paying more as I worked out the flight prices with one bag per person along with the airfare. I found out when checking in with Alaska that they had lower baggage fees, so I saved money.

If you wait and pay at the bags counter they charge you the as if you were checking in at airport. Most airlines give you discount for paying your baggage fees online. What I've found is, if you call the bags number prior to going to bags counter you will get the discounted rate. The one time I did not call ahead of time the charge was 5.00 more, the same as if doing at airport.

When did you purchase your ticket?
