Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

It's one unit with vents in the bedroom and living area. The vent in the bedroom is super weak and the one in the living area is super strong. So, the AC makes the living area much colder than the bedroom. There is only one temperature control switch.
Thank you thank you! This is just what I was looking for. If you recall does the ac work on a motion sensor? Like does it shut off while you're out of the room or not moving around? Also is the vent closer to the sofa bed or the table bed if you can remember?

Sorry for all the questions but its so miserable to be hot at night I think!

In our room, the vent was near the sofa bed. And yes, I believe it was one of those motion sensor type of thermostats. We were only there one night but I was hot all night. We set it as low as it would go. :(

were you in the bedroom and hot? I was thinking of telling the ones that like it cold to sleep in the living area but I think they were going to use the table bed. I am not sure how separate that area is like will it get the same cooling effect from the vent by the sofa bed. I guess they will find out! I hate those motion sensors with a passion! I like the AC to blow all night when I am on vacation:) The chillier the better!

Do I have to do online check in to put in a room request? Our only request is ground floor, but I would prefer to check in at the desk because I want separate cards linked to each band. (Second question: can a gift card or credit card with a low limit be linked to a 5 year olds band?)

Yes I was in the bedroom. The living room isn't that big so it feels equally cool throughout. It really is about the size of a standard hotel room (the living room part...I would say it is roughly the size of a moderate room). The vent was probably equidistant from both the table bed and sofabed really, but I think it directly faced the sofa bed.

Nope. You can do online check in, skip the room request section and call in your room requests. Or call in your room requests and skip online check in altogether.

Just because you do online check in does NOT mean you can't stop by and check in with the front desk to add a second credit card. It is a very big misconception that doing online check in means you have to skip the front desk, not true.

(Second question: can a gift card or credit card with a low limit be linked to a 5 year olds band?)

Credit card yes, gift card no. You can link a Credit Card and then stop by every couple days and use gift cards to pay the balance so nothing is charged to your Credit Card. But you can't put a Gift Card down at check in.

The "ignore" button is a wonderful thing. As is editing. It allows people to change their story. That's why we have "the rule".

ETA: Just for others who may be reading this and didn't read through all of the posts, there are a few ways to get hot water to warm a baby bottle without a microwave in a Disney resort room. There are electric tea kettles (heat the water, pour it in another container and set the bottle in it), small hot pots, and small coffee makers. While Disney doesn't provide any of those things, you can bring them along with you or ship them ahead so you have them in your room. My preference when traveling with young children was the hot pot because it heated the water quickly and the bottle could be placed in the water while it was heating.

This is great information. I am doing a split stay between AoA and Swan in july and I was wondering how to warm the bottles for my DS who will be 10 month old. Do you mind sharing which kind of hot pot and where did you get it?
should I just bring my bottle warmer? The AoA suites do have a microwave anyway right?

The suites have a microwave and coffee pot. Standard rooms don't, and since you're not really supposed to bring those types of appliances into the rooms, a bottle warmer is probably the best choice.

Yes the AoA suites have a microwave. I don't remember the exact brand of hot pot I had...it's been about 10 years since I've used one but it was very similar to this one:

It heated the water very quickly and also came in handy for oatmeal, soup, etc. if we needed a little snack while in the hotel room. I was always paranoid about forgetting to turn it off and unplug it so I always kept our room and car keys right next to it so that any time we left the room, I had to pick up my keys right next to the hot pot and once again double, triple, quadruple check that I had unplugged it before we left the room. I never needed that double check -- I always remembered to unplug it as soon as we were finished using it.

I also had a bottle warmer that was simply a smaller version of the hot pot -- only held 1 bottle. I just had to put a few tablespoons of water in it.

That would explain things! I was so warm in the bedroom, but when I would go out by the couch bed during the night it was chilly.

I'm a newb and I read all 208 pages. Learned a lot. Thank you all. We're booked for Oct and I am trying to wrap my head around everything. Best news so far: LM rooms are not too girly, you can buy a half gallon of milk at the food court, and we'll have fun no matter what. Sold. I'll make a real profile once I get my ten posts in ;)

quick question... do the suites have ceiling fans? I like to go to sleep with the "white noise"

No, only the rooms at Moderates and Deluxes have ceiling fans. However, each Value resort has box fans you can request from housekeeping on a first come first served basis.

Hi everyone!

I just booked a Little Mermaid room for 6 nights in May, and we are so excited!

I was wondering about King beds. I would like to request a room with a King bed, and I was wondering if the king LM rooms were located somewhere specific. Are they only on the ground floor of are there king rooms on the upper levels as well?

Thanks!

They are sprinkled around in every building and floors.
