Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

So sorry if this has been covered somewhere (203 pages is a lot!)....but, we are staying in a Lion King Suite in Sept. Is it necessary to request a room for that? Will it make a huge difference in the distance to the food court or the bus stop? Thanks.

The buildings are about 135 yards long. So if you're in the closest room to the main building, you would have about a 75 yard walk to the food court. If you're in the furthest room, you'd have about a 200 yard walk. In the grand scheme of things, all of the LK suites are relatively close to the food court and bus stops as those are both located at the LK end of the main building. We've requested "close to transportation" for both of our LK stays and have always been assigned a room that is at the end of the LK building closest to Animation Hall -- which gave us a 2 minute walk to the food court and just a minute or so longer to the bus stop. It certainly won't hurt to request "close to transportation" if you do online check-in; but none of the LK rooms are really more than a 3-4 minute walk to the food court and 5 minutes (tops) to the bus stops.

Upper. Less chance of a critter running/slinking in the room when housekeeping has the door open while cleaning the room.

I wouldn't say often, but it does happen. After having an uninvited visitor when on the ground floor at POR, my wife refuses to stay ground floor.

Yup. Every WDW resort building that has more than 2 floors has elevators.

We've always had the top floor at whatever resort we've been in (ASMo, Pop, AoA). Most of the time I've requested it, a few times we just ended up there. I like that there's no noise above us and there seems to be fewer occupied rooms (we've often felt like we had the wing to ourselves at AoA). I also like to decrease my chances of unwanted visitors of the wildlife variety finding their way into my room. I also like the view. My husband doesn't like to use elevators so we typically use the stairs when coming and going from our room. He has finally caught on to the fact that we're always on the top floor and has asked me to request to *not* be on the top floor again. <sigh> So I'm just going to request "not first floor" and see where we end up.

We always ask for top floor and away from the elevators. Had a stay near an elevator before and it was MISERABLE

Just excited.. we decided to add 2 nights to our WDW trip in August because the flights were cheaper and we are going to do those 2 nights at AoA before heading to BC. I'm so excited! We decided to actually just spend the one full day at AoA and swim and explore the resort as we've never been there before. DD5 is going to love our LM room!

I was at WDW in early February, and stopped by AoA to do some recon for our visit in three weeks. Noticed they were doing some work in the LK Courtyard, and it was closed.

So it says the bus system only goes to each park right? So if we have breakfast at chef Mickeys or dinner booked at 1900 Park fare do we have to pay for a cab ride to get there and then back to AoA?

You can bus to MK and then take the monorail!

I agree with dansdad. Can't think of any disadvantages of being close to transportation. And the only slight downside to being on the higher floors is either having to climb a few flights of stairs or going out of your way to walk to the center of the building, wait for the elevator, and then walk back down the hall to your room. Neither option (stairs or elevator) is really a problem.

Are there coffee makers in the POP rooms?

If not, what do you do for coffee? Is Landscape of Flavors the only option? How many cups of coffee before buying the refillable mug becomes a better option (Not for me, I'm a tea girl, but I don't really want to spend a week with my mother if she doesn't get her daily allowance of coffee).

You asked about Pop rooms but this is the Art of Animation thread....

Pop Century rooms do not have coffee makers.

Art of Animation suites have a kitchenette with a coffee maker. Art of Animation standard rooms (Little Mermaid section) do not have coffee makers.

If you are in a room without a coffee maker and plan to buy coffee daily, the refillable mug is definitely the way to go because you can get your daily coffee plus your fill of sodas too.
