Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

A new wrinkle in my ongoing reservation debacle, since being moved from Nemo to Lion King today I received an email saying my magic bands were shipped to the resort, gray of course. I called disney to find out why and make sure the ones I received already will still be good they said they verified they will and the gray are a second set but the weird thing is each person wasn't sent a new gray one only two of six were. I don't hold out much hope that there won't be an issue when we get there. When I spoke to disney during the switch call to the magic band call, I was never offered anything or asked how they could make this better. They didn't even respond to my email when I complained about being forced to move which I still haven't gotten over so 4 days before we arrived and they are started off behind the ball as far as I feel and I'm expecting problems which doesn't make for a magical vacation.

It's not right, but I've found Disney rarely offers to do anything to make up for a problem- if you complain, depending on the complaint, they'll offer a discount or free passes or something. But it's a definite they don't ask, we don't give policy for the most part.

We are planning on staying at AOA in February. Is there anywhere nearby or on the resort to buy some snacks/drinks for the room? What about baby supplies like diapers? We won't have a rental car as we will be using the express bus from the airport.

Any tips are appreciated!

We used garden grocer which is a delivery food service.
There's a $40 minimum order with a $14 or so delivery charge.

Besides the food court, the gift shop sells snacks, although I don't know about diapers (try garden grocer)

Thank you!! I will look into it! I can handle a delivery charge over renting a car for the day to do groceries. ;)

I am arriving next week for DD's 13th birthday. It's a surprise for her where we are staying. Does AoA have ice machines to refill our cooler for the trip home?

Thanks!

Garden grocer cost us $60 but actually saved us a lot of money as we ate breakfast most mornings in the room instead of at the food court.

Plus we got snacks and wound up taking home the left over bread, pb&j etc.

Here's a tip, if anyone is going to order peanut butter and jelly from garden grocer, order the "goober" instead as it has both in one jar and obviously costs less.

Yes they have ice machines

Ugh! Sorry. I was advising my DS (8) not to get too worked up about where we are staying because Disney could change it. I am not even going to tell the littles (2) where we are staying at all.
DH overheard this, and I was telling him about your situation, and he was really mad. We had a friend who changed from AsMo to ASSp last minute (like a few days before going) because she thought her sons would like ASSp better. Well, on her way down, Disney called and told her they needed to move her to Grand Floridian (this was 2009, I think). DH was sensing a slip in customer service.

This is probably a stupid question... When mailing a package to AoA, does it matter how I address it? I have seen two different ways:

Disney's Art of Animation
Attn: My name and res #
address

or

My name
c/o Disney's Art of Animation
Res #
Address

I'm sure my package will get there whichever way I do it, just curious what others used or if one way will work better than another. I definitely don't want my package with my sons diapers to get misplaced. Thanks!

How many stops till you get to AOA when taking the magical express?

There's no single answer to this question. There's no way to know if all the guests on your bus will be going to AoA, or to a combination of resorts such as Pop Century and Caribbean Beach, and to which resort will be first.

I used garden grocer too and was happy with them. Got diapers and milk and snacks and it worked out great.

We addressed a package:

Name-resort guest
Art of Animation Resort
Address

It arrived to us. I didn't think to put the reservation number, but it still got to us.

Great, thanks for the input! I figured it would get to us but I can't help but worry about the small things sometimes :)

I was able to drive my scooter into the bedroom and kept it next to the bed between it and the bathroom door. There is a plug in that wall to plug in the charger. It was sort of in the way, but my husband and I could walk around it to get into bed or into the bathroom. I had rented the portable scooter from Buena Vista, which is a bit smaller than some others I think.

We had three adult kids with us so they were in living room area, one on an air mattress which we stored on top of the table bed area--hard to explain what I mean but we didn't take a picture (which we kept set up as a bed the whole ten days). I think you could easily have a second scooter in the living room near the kitchen area. I had a small freezer there so I know there's a plug in that wall for the charger.

Thanks for the info!
