Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

Any thoughts on my swimming question? We will ask the lifeguards when we get there, but I'm wondering if anyone has had success bringing a family member from another resort into the pool at AoA.

We will also be driving for the first time. It's a 21 hour drive and will require 2 nights in a hotel each way, but it should save us about $1500. We are a family of 6 with kids ages 7, 5, 2, and 4 months at time of travel. Flights were $2K+ and we figure we can make the trip for about $500-600 driving. Our kids do well in the car, but this is a few hours longer each way than our last trip to Texas, and we will have to stop every few hours to feed the baby. Should be interesting, but I'm looking forward to it.

Just booked an October trip. Oct 2nd-11th!! Can't wait. Last year we stayed at Pop in two rooms and walked over to AoA and were in awe! This year we decided to do a LK suite. It is my daughter and her fiancé, my two grandsons and myself. I'm taking the table bed. I'm very excited and hoping for FD. We go every year now and every year I am still just as excited as the last..lol. We have stayed at POFQ, Pop and Caribbean Beach. We like Pop and POFQ but not so much CB. It was just too big and spread out. Love the theming of AoA and enjoyed the food court while we were there. We are looking forward to MNSSHP and EPCOT Food and wine. Anyone else going to be there when we are?

We will be there for the tail end of your trip. Also in LK.

Nah...that's when we pull out all the toys and souvies we have bought and play/read/listen!

For us the drive there is long because we are so excited and can't wait to get there. The drive home is quick. 16 hours there and 16 hours back and 4 kids is hard. We usually drive through the night both ways so the kids sleep most of it. I give a big pat on the back to those who drive further. If it was any further then 16 we would fly

We're checking in Saturday into a Lion King suite! SO excited to see, this is my dd16's birthday trip, and she chose the AoA, we've not seen it yet except in photos. We have in the past stayed at Pop, All Star Music, POFQ, and Old Key West, along with assorted trips offsite. We live in Tampa so frequently go for 2 or 3 days at a time. We're having a birthday cake delivered to the suite on Saturday afternoon, and then will be having dinner Saturday night at Ohana and Sunday at Garden Grill. I'm hoping to get lots of pics, will try to forward some here when I get them.

May 23-May 24 is the 24 hour day, which is the Friday before Memorial Day. We will definitely be there that weekend, still debating whether we will take off work on Friday so we can be there for the 24 hr day. Last year we drove up after a full work day and got to the parks @ 8pm, stayed till 4am. But since a full work day for us means getting up before 5am, we found it overwhelmingly exhausting and agreed that if we did again, we would take the day off!

Can you check out the current offerings for purchasing snacks and drinks (milk, crackers, cheese, juice, chips, that kind of thing) to bring back to the room?

We are driving for the first time, so we could bring things with us or make a stop, but we usually survive just fine on what they sell in the resort shop. We have little ones who will need milk/juice in the mornings, and we may or may not eat breakfast in the room.

Also, do they sell wine/beer? What is the selection like? Price?

Powerade Mountain Berry Blast on all the soda dispensers.

There is Gold Peak tea, then on the soda dispensers there is Powerade, lemonade, and Sprite Zero for sure. I'll try to remember to look later and see what else.
