Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

Checking out this thread has me so PUMPED! We'll be in a Cars suite in September. Can't wait! :) It's our first time to stay on property and only our second trip ever...so we are very excited.

Thanks so much for the pictures....that does help. We requested Building one upper level with a pool view so I think we will be good to go. Closer than the LM rooms which was where I wanted to stay since it was $1200 cheaper. But we have 2 boys, and they were not keen on the LM. Even DH said that hike just to fill up our mugs would get old since we'll be there a week. I hope we made the right choice!!!

When you consider the higher price also consider what you're getting over the LM room besides location. Indoor access with nice carpeted hallways to help muffle little feet running, twice the room space and a door you can shut if you need to have some privacy. I gotta tell you, ten days in a tiny POP room with my kids was an interesting experience. I love my minions but sometimes it's nice to have some quiet grown up time after they are asleep.

I'm sure you will be very happy with your decision to book a Cars Suite rather than a LM room. Once you walk in that door, you'll never regret spending the extra money for the suite. Not to mention, if/when discounts come out, you'll probably save some money...and the LM haven't been included in most of the room discounts since they opened, so that $1200 may get reduced. :-) The private bedroom and 2 bathrooms are worth every penny when you're traveling with kids. And the larger fridge and microwave are a nice bonus as well.

You will love it!!! It's so cool to walk by the cars every day and the suites are super nice.

We were just about to book POLFQ and looked into this resort and for $600 less this looks great if not better! I am excited to see this resort...the pool looks awesome and the rooms look great! We are staying the the LM room. I am excited to try a new place out!!!

We just booked 6 days at the Lion King family suite for August 2014 and we can't wait!

Awesome stay we had, just back over a week ago.

We stayed in the Little Mermaid section, we were actually offered a Cars Suite upgrade, but turned it down as our little one was well set for Ariel. We even got her block.

Great resort all over.

After much discussion, we have finally booked a LM room over a suite. I hope you had a great time. Do you recommend a room/section of the LM area? We have asked for adjoining rooms, bottom floor and close to a pool if possible.

So excited to be officially booked for next summer!

Hi all,
I have book a LM room for my little sisters and I annual Disney Christmas trip. I had a few questions I couldnt find.
Someone mentioned an animation/drawing class? The drawing class at HS is our favorite so if there is on on the property we would love to know where and when it is offered.
Are there any other activities offered on property?
Anything special during christmas? We wil be staying Dec 18-26th
Also, Im wondering about requesting a building. Any ideas? We would like it ground floor and close to a bus pickup , (we like to be at rope drop)
Thanks everyone

I don't believe there is any real benefit of section in The Little Mermaid area.

Technically Ariel's block (8 I believe) is the furthest, but it's just a number of yards further than the rest, so not an issue, I guess if you were wanting to be picky, then a ground floor and ask for the nearest room on Ursula or Triton building to The Lion King Section.

The Little Mermaid has a pool area right outside, this is in addition to Big Blue Pool in the Nemo section (at main area), there is also a pool at Cars Section, these have a shaded cone area as well, but think you'd have to be up quite early to bag these areas.

There is a drawing station, I can't recall the number of tables, but I do recall a man sitting at a table looking like he was drawing or doing something at least on something. There was no-one there with him though. I'm unsure of the timings but they do give you an activity sheet along with map etc so that will detail specifics for the various activities going on in-resort.

The Bus Stop is only at one point, so if you stay in the Little Mermaid area you have the longest walk, but it's only like 5 minutes or so.

After reading all of the chatter on the other board about free dining in October, we had been going back & forth about switching from our LM room, assuming it will be excluded. After much debate and pricing out all other options, I think we've decided to still stick with AoA. Our boys are 2 & 5 & it's their first trip, I just think they will love AoA much more than any other resort. I hope I made the right decision!!

DH and I had a poolside room once (forget which resort, but I'm thinking Pop Century) and HATED it! We were there alone and since there was no closing time for the pool, and there was a bar there, it was very loud until well past 2 am! We now try to choose a room as close to the buses and far from the pool as possible, which was why we chose Lion King for next year.

Do the suites have regular coffee makers, or are they still the single-serving pod type?

Mine are 3 & 6 and flat out turned me down on the LM room. They insisted it was only for girls! It's obviously cheaper though than the family suites. We are staying at the Cars section next time, we visited the AoA resort when we stayed at POP in June and your boys won't be disappointed! I've noticed the kids rarely are. They will love the Lazy Cone pool & the Big Blue pool (it plays music underwater!). It's definitely a rad resort! You should just do the math and see if upgrading just for free dining would be worth it for you. We are Florida residents so free dining has never worked for us.

Thanks for the info. We don't mind the walk. The only reason that we have requested a bottom floor is because of the stroller for our grandson. We thought it would be a bit easier, but even if we have to take the elevator to one of the other floors it's not that big of a deal. :)

Yeah, I would have loved to stay in the cars section (my 5 year old is obsessed with Lightning McQueen, so that's part of why I want to stay at AoA, I know he's going to lose his mind just walking through that section!)...but it just wasn't in the budget. we're traveling with both sets of grandparents and all want to be in the same area, so we just couldn't justify paying for 3 suites. I'm glad to hear the pools are great...you ask the 5 year old what he's most excited for at Disney & he says the pools...go figure!

I continue to prefer the ground floor when using a stroller. It's nice to just wheel out and go.

We were at at the AOA food court last June and I didn't care for the house seasoned fries. Is there a sub for this other than cole slaw? If not I guess I will just order a sandwich only.
