what are the chances this resort will actually open up on time? we are going sept 2012 and i would LOVE to stay at this new resort. but alot of people are telling me they think there is no way this resort will open up on time....any thoughts/ideas? thanks :)

Wow! It's only been 4 months since I was there and the amount of work they have gotten done is INSANE!!!

Does anyone know how it's going to be laid out? Like what theme will be where? Just wondering what the "preferred" location theme would be (like, if it's the mirror image of Pop...what will be where the 60's is, etc.)..

Going back to Pop in about 5 months...can't wait to see what kind of progress they have made!

I've heard speculation that the 'preferred' is going to be Cars & The Lion King sections. I've read that since Finding Nemo & The Little Mermaid are both water themed, they will most likely have their own pools, with either the Cars & Lion King sections housing the main pool.

Post pictures of the progress! :)

it's gonna be tough deciding which section to stay in. Will we even be able to request specific sections or will it be just like all other requests - they'll try but no guarantee.

Isn't one entire section (Little Mermaid?) going to be all regular rooms and the rest suites? I'll be hoping for Lion King or Nemo although DD would loooooooooove Little Mermaid. But we need a suite and it's probably not fair to DS to stick him in a little mermaid room, lol.

Everything I have read says they will open next summer (2012)

thanks!!! fingers crossed that they will open on time!!! we would LOVE to stay there next sept!!!

That's what I've heard. Little Mermaid will house the regular rooms and the other themes will house the suites. I'm in the opposite situation. I don't want a Little Mermaid room, I'd prefer any of the other themes, especially Lion King but we don't need a suite. Something about Ariel gets on my nerves! LOL

I'm guessing that the Little Mermaid buildings will be the buildings that they started building years ago. It just makes sense since they were already being constructed as though they would be standard value rooms. That would make it a three building group which makes sense based on the 864 rooms (288 per building matches the Pop buildings) number that they have already given us for Little Mermaid. This thought would also make it the furthest section out and if they continue to "mirror" Pop, it would have a pool...so that matches what jenny105 mentioned a few posts up. :thumbsup2

As for the section right in front of the main building, my guess says Cars...but that's just a guess. :)

We are a family of 6 and a suite that holds everyone at a place similar to Pop which my kids LOVE would be fantastic!!!

I'm really looking forward to Art of Animation Resort. Sections for Lion King, Little Mermaid, Nemo, & Cars make up for the choice of Mighty Ducks at ASMo in my mind. Sorry to any ducks fans, but I never could understand why such a forgettable film was included alongside the classics that make up the rest of the resort. And the hockey theme seems more suited to Sports.

Thankfully, the choices they made for Art of Animation are all top notch. It would have been a shame for the sections to be themed as Lion King, Little Mermaid, Nemo, and something like Great Mouse Detective. Again, nothing against GMD, but something like that would have seemed out of place and pale in comparison to the other sections.

I think we are going to plan to stay at AoA for our 2013 trip. Our friends are thinking of meeting us there & they have 2 little boys. Would be a great combination with the Little Mermaid section for us & Cars section for them!

IMO, Mighty Ducks is a classic. I grew up with those movies. It would've fit in better with AS Sports, I agree with you there, but considering it spun two sequels, I don't think it can really be dubbed as 'forgettable.' The first MD is one of my favorite movies. Joshua Jackson will never be Pacey to me; always Charlie Conway!

I agree 100%. I never understood the choice either. It isn't a movie that will stay relevant throughout the life of the resort the way the rest of the movies will. If you asked any of the children in my family about MD they would have no idea what you were talking about, and I don't just mean my own children. I'm talking extended family as well.

But they know what Herbie is?? :confused3

IDK, maybe it's because I grew up with it that I feel differently. A pro hockey team was named after them as well so it just seems odd to me that people don't know it.

I don't really know the MIghty Ducks movie. I mean, I've vaguely heard of it, but honestly had no idea it was a Disney movie, and I'm (obviously) a huge Disney lover! :confused3
