People do take air mattresses with them, but not sure there would be room in the bedroom of a 1 br.

A single sized air mattress should easily fit into the master bedroom in the 1 br.. A double might be a bit tighter squeeze. The sleeper chair is quite comfy even for an adult, btw.

Thanks so much! I'm sure the chair is very comfy. Just looking to get my son in the bedroom with me so D can have the living room all to herself. She gets up very early to make coffee, go for a run and catch up on the DIS. I know....I know....it's a king bed. But you have no idea how restless a sleeper my son is!

Wish I knew if the mattress on the chair comes off. That would be way easier than packing an air mattress....but just knowing there is room for him on the floor will set my mind at ease. We will figure out the rest when we get there

You might want to try the DVC resorts board I'm sure they know. Just don't ask if you can put the chair in the room they don't take kindly to anyone that wants to move furniture.

Hi All!!! We will have our second stay at AKL - Jambo in March. I was lucky enough to snag a Value Studio at the 7 month mark for our one night of arriving. Originally we were arriving at 11:30pm and were going to grab a value resort room (all stars), then move to BWV, then VGF.

I was able to change to the Boardwalk standard view (which hadn't been available), then the Value studio was available for our arrival day(which hadn't been available). So by the time I switched views, I had almost enough points left over (had to buy 2), so my AKL reservation only cost me 30.00 - as opposed to 194.00 for All Stars!! I then changed the airline to come in at 5:30pm instead so we can hopefully have dinner at Jiko (our favorite) that night!

Super Excited!!!

Is there a map that shows where the Value Studios are located, and possibly the views? I know it is possible to get a Savannah view - I didn't know that until the Cast Member helping me with reservations told me. But I am sure I can also get a parking lot view. It is only one day, so I am not too caught up on it, just excited and want to look around at which rooms we could possibly get. We love AKL and we are very excited to be back there, if only for a night!

I saw the map on the first post but didn't know which are Value Studios. I know we will be on the 5th floor, that's all I know

We were at Kidani this August and DD 12 slept on the pull out chair. I'm not 100% sure, but I don't see how the mattress could be removed. The chair folds out like a sleeper sofa so the mattress is in pieces that I think are attached to the frame. I could be totally wrong, but Disney sofas aren't like a traditional sleeper where it's a thin mattress sitting on top of a metal frame. There is quite a bit of room in the master bedroom though. The Kidani rooms are amazing! Have fun

Thanks for the info on locations Elin, we have never stayed at this resort. I had already added a request for a King bed- as it is only the 2 of us going.

We are heading to AKL for the first time on Nov.18th to 22nd. Never been to Disney in November or at Thanksgiving. Excited to see the holiday decorations. Hoping to get some pixie dust and get a great room view but just being able to stay at a deluxe hotel for the price of a moderate with free dining is great!!

Is there a list for next May/June? We are confirmed 30MAY-11JUN, we rented points from DVC member, and staying at AKL Jambo house value studio.

This is our first time staying at a deluxe resort and I know studio value is smaller than normal deluxe room but we are super excited for AKL. It's DH and mine 25th wedding anniversary trip, as well as our daughters high school graduation. Planning is now in full force

Dreamseeker9 my birthday is in 3 weeks and 3 days also but I'm going to be 47 so not even 1/2 as excited as you. That sounds like an awesome trip especially with such a large group for F&W. We are going to stay 9/10-14 at AKL to go pick out our new home in Orlando hoping to move by Thanksgiving. We have stayed the last week in October and it couldn't have been more perfect for comfort, crowd and animal sightings.

And to answer Jess_S, of course 5 days isn't enough. Disney wants you to keep coming back year after year. Relax and tell yourself, I'm putting that on my next trip list when you come across something you don't have time for this visit.

New to the boards and stunned at the extent and quality of the information provided. This is the very first thread I've read, because the AKl is the resort I am considering for my next visit.

I requested near the elevator and near the lobby and we're in a standard view studio. Any guesses as to where that might put us?

Also how late are the Mara and either Victoria Falls or the Bar at Jiko open? Our flight doesn't land until 8:30 and I thought it might be nice to start the trip with Zebra Domes and a nice glass of wine

I paid for a pool view and without asking or anything, I got upgraded to a savanna view! It was incredible. Any idea how those free upgrades work? It was such a great surprise.

I'm really excited to be staying at AKL in November! we visited the resort for a meal last trip and I fell in love with it so much (it's so beautiful!). and we were lucky enough to get a discount code that put the hotel into our budget! we're booked in a pool view room--I've tried to check out the views on touring plans, but they seem really lacking for this section of the resort. so I would love thoughts from some AKL vets! is there any chance of a partial savannah view from a pool view room? we're 3 adults with no mobility problems, so a bit of a walk to our room won't be a problem (plus it looks like pool views are pretty contained). any tips you'd recommend?

Awesome! No idea how they work, maybe they have a button that says "pixie dust" when assigning rooms lol! Did you make any requests?

Can anyone tell me the approximate price of a container of yogurt (regular or greek) at AKL in the gift shops? I can't find a photo online that is zoomed in enough to show prices! I don't think I'll have enough on my list to justify a grocery order but wanted to make sure.
