For those that have stayed at the resort before....do you know if a gallon of milk will fit in the room's fridge?

Just wanted to report back on our first stay at the AKL last week. Overall the resort was beautiful and the customer service was great. I loved all the activities they had for kids and while our schedule didn't allow us to do a ton, my daughter enjoyed an instrument class, some coloring, and a lovely introduction to elephant dung ; ) We were pleasantly surprised that our standard room was in fact overlooking the Uzima Savannah and had bunk beds which my daughter loved. We got to revisit both Jiko and Sanaa and neither disappointed.

Only issue we had was getting busses to AK one day. With the busses picking up at Kidani Village first, we had to wait through 3 bus cycles before we could finally get on one. With the free for all at the bus stop, many folks that had come after us were able to push ahead and get on before us. Our anticipation of being right next to AK and a quick trip ended up taking 45 minutes. Thankfully return trip and other bus service worked out fine.

I'm sure we'll return again.

Can anyone tell me about how many towels are provided for a Kidani studio villa? Since we won't be getting any fresh towels until day 4, just wondering how many we'll have to work with! Thanks!

Here is the view from our room Sept 2014

We were in Jambo House room #3529 on the Arusha savanna in the Zebra trail wing

View to the left of the lobby and Arusha rock in the middle of the pic (you can barely see the rainbow above the lobby)

Looking to the far right

Looking straight ahead (with a Wednesday Wanyama safari truck touring savanna)
What was you bed configuration for this room?

From what I can remember I do not think a gallon would fit in the fridge. I think I was able to get a 2 liter of soda in and that was a tight squeeze.

Hi everyone! I'm new here and beginning to plan our first family trip for June 2016. My plan is to rent DVC points so we can afford a deluxe. It will be myself, my DH, and my 2 daughters (will be 4 and 7 at the time of the trip) I'm going back and forth between the Poly and AKV. I originally wanted Poly because that is the resort I always wanted to stay in as a kid (we always stayed off property). I love the theming and I also want to do the luau and the character breakfast at 'Ohana. The other major benefit is it being on the monorail. We'll be at MK 2, if not 3, days. And it would be so nice to just hop on the monorail if the 4 year old needs a midday break. But, it's so much more expensive. The only worry I have about staying at AKL is how far it is from everything but AK. That and my DH and kids do not have adventurous palettes at all so eating there would probably be out. But, I just keep thinking about all the things we could do with the extra money.

I didn't think picking a resort would be so stressful! So - sell me on AKV! What do you love? Honestly, how bad are the commutes (we'll be there for rope drop - my kids are very early risers) Give me the good, the bad and the ugly!!

We normally stay POR, but have also stayed at CR/CB etc and I didn't find it long to get from AKL to the other parks, even at xmas when it was busy. I was worried about the same thing but it turned out not to be a concern at all!

Having the animals roaming just in front of you IMHO is simply WONDERFUL ! Staying at AKV is like having another vacation into the WDW vacation For the kids it would be awesome ! There are also some activities for kids.
At AKL ( one bus stop or you can walk to) the Boma restaurant + Mara counter service have kids-friendly items and comfort food for everyone.
To be honest the bus sistem is not as wonderful a service; if you are concerned about commutes BUT can hop onto the first bus to MK or Epcot etc. you should be OK.

My kids wake up at 5 am without the excitement of seeing Minnie and princesses, so I don't think making the first bus will be a problem! More concerned if the kids need a break - I don't want to waste a ton of time traveling back and forth.

:rolleyes1 For a quick break we sometimes DO NOT travel back to our hotel , we use to visit another CLOSER resort : ie we stop for some cookies at Beach and Yacht Club if we are visiting Epcot ( also The Land makes for a cooling stop) or we hop onto the monorail and relax at The Poly or visit the Wilderness Lodge when we are tired of the MK crowds ...
In the past visits we often planned a nice restaurant stop for our midday meal ; it could be seen as a waste of time, but you can sit down, rest in the AC and QUIETLY have some food before heading out in the park for more fun...
:flower1: Not sure if this would be enough of a break for your 4yo ...

 Ok worried sick now, I am just a standard club level room and supposed to be a Savannah view from what disney's own website says....

the whole reason I am staying at AKL is for a savanna view, and I added the CL to it for fun!
...you can request a Savannah View....no worries.....:thumbsup2

Any thoughts on in-room dining/room service at Jambo? Do we have to order hours ahead of time or can we just crawl in from the parks one evening and order some grub? Anything particularly tasty or unpleasant? We are pretty adventurous, no picky eaters, and we enjoy various global cuisines on a regular basis. Thanks!

-Tess
...the flatbread pizzas from The Mara are super dee-lish!

....also The Land makes for a cooling stop....
....I agree - we've grabbed breakfast[and lunch] here MANY times....great selection, reasonably priced (for WDW standards), clean, and comfortable...I also like to get stuff at either Starring Rolls [at DHS] or one of those kiosks on Hollywood Blvd [on the left as you walk towards ToT]...

There's the DVC laundry room on the 5th floor just as you start down the hallway to where your room was..aka. just off the main lobby..
...no, no, no...I'm talking about the one on Kudu Trail - it's not a DVC one. It's a regular coin-operated one, not just for DVC guests...
