Disney's ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE Information & Questions

Hoping someone can help me with a room request. I know they are not guaranteed but I thought we would ask and hope for the best.

We will be staying at jambo house with DVC. We are so excited! We have a deluxe studio with savanna view. My questions are; with DVC are all rooms on the 5th and 6th floor?, what should we ask for if we want a good view of giraffes but would like to be near the pool or lobby? If you are near the lobby or pool is it still possible to have a good view of giraffes?

Love this thread. Thanks to those who keep it going.

Hi, y'all! I am here posting from Jambo House. Disboards had their big conversion since I've been here so I'm not set up under this "new" Disboards yet!

Just wanted to let you all know that the lobby is complete! The new wood flooring looks beautiful - brightens up the lobby just enough, while still keeping the ambiance the lobby has always had.

Before I left, I had posted that I would walk the property and count the People Pens (for Jambo House only, not Kidani). I counted six and then I later confirmed with someone in the know here that it is indeed six!

I won't be back on the boards again for another few days. See y'all again soon!

...can you share some pix - I'm kind of interested to see how it came out!

Boma's never dissapoints, thats for sure..It's a buffet, but the mere word does it No justice...It's waaay more than a buffet...You'll be back, I'm sure of it.
Jiko's I still haven't tried but have heard great things...
.....now, if you'd only listen to your big sister....;)

Wait, what did Gordon do to make you think he might have deserved a time out?

(I believe he is the one who was evicted from the Animal Kingdom theme park for licking the guests. I saw him on the Wanyama Safari last March.)
Yep - that would be Gordon. I posted this link of a video from my Wanyama Safari of Gordon about a month ago - but I'll post it again - since you asked ;) He did stick his head in the truck before my son started the video, BTW.

...you'd probably be better off requesting KuduTrail, near lobby...giaraffes ARE typically in Arusha Savannah, of which you'g get that view with Kudu...

I saw some pics Laura posted to FB - the lobby is gorgeous, the new floor looks great. :) Hopefully she'll post some pics here.

OMG, how the heck ARE you????!?!?! Please don't be a stranger...
We're good!!! Have a May/June trip planned, just barely gonna miss Brandi - but so excited and looking forward to it. I miss you Jamborini's - hope to be around more!!! :)

Good to see you around.

Corinna
Hi Corinna!! :)

...do zebra domes count? :teeth:

I just did breakfast this past Sat. After the schpiel of what was at each station I joked, "But no Zebra Domes." My lovely server said, "Would you like some?" She brought me a plated tray of 3 domes so fresh they hadn't set up yet. Jungle Juice (which is basically the same as the lilikoi juice at Kona Cafe & the POG), pap (Which is actually corn based, not rice. It's sorta like a thick white grits. So you can go either savory or sweet with it.), & zebra domes - the Breakfast of Champions! :smooth:

Counting down!! 27 days until my birthday trip and stay at AKL!

A few questions for those in the know...

1. Is the night safari worth doing? Anyone ever done it alone?
2. Are Boma/Sanaa places that you can walk into without an ADR? I do have one dinner res and one breakfast res for Boma but I'm curious as to how likely it is that I can play it by ear on other days.
3. Do the lounges serve food into their late hours?

And I just did the night safari Sunday. I thought with the Superbowl going we might get a tour to ourselves but no, we had a truck of 10 so no personalized requests. The truck stayed mostly in the Sunset savanna. Not much got close, in fact if something looked like it was heading towards us the truck would drive forward. And we were being so good with no flash but people on their balconies kept setting off their flashes that messed with what we could see. Yes the night scopes were cool, but you can borrow them for free from the Overlook. If you can't get the daytime Wanyama Safari it is a smaller, shorter version. Do I feel I got my $70 out of it? No not really, but I've been spoiled by the San Diego Zoo Safari Park's Caravan Safaris. ;-)

Boma, for breakfast you can probably walk-up. I had a 7:30AM ADR on Sat & the place was pretty empty. Of course as you get closer to park opening times more people come in. Dinner is usually pretty booked unless you get there right at 4 or later after 8pm. Sanaa, you might have a wait but it is less visited.

I didn't stay Concierge so don't know about the Lounge. But Mara was open late, got cup refills at 11:45pm.

Hi Jamborini's!!!! Just popping in to say HELLO!!! How are all of you doing??

Hello! How have you been? Bet your youngest DS and grandbabies are getting big!

Not happy that I lost my tags with the upgrade...

Me and my son have a standard room at AKL booked for Saturday night and a club level room for Sunday night.
If we want access to the Kilimanjaro Club Sunday morning, do we need to be checked out (and physically out) of the standard room and checked into the club level room first?

I realize that our club level room my not be ready until 3 but I would like to utilize the club lounge as much as possible.

On Monday we move to CSR, can we continue to use the AKL club lounge on Monday?

....that's because The Mara is usually packed at that time, filled with folks wishing to grab something quick before heading out to a park....as for a walk-up ADR for dinner, I certainly would NOT recommend chancing it and trying to get a walk-up ADR - virtually IMPOSSIBLE! If you can, definitely try to book an ADR [for dinner] in advance....
