....blizzard? WHAT blizzard? It's not even snowing out....:confused3

OK, seriously this snow event better not interfere with my flight in just a few days, I am a nervous wreck! I know it's Denver to Orlando, but my plane better not be stuck somewhere :rolleyes1

Hope everyone on the east coast stays safe and warm the next few days :beach:

....honestly, I think that you've had much better weather there than we've had here, so I wouldn't worry too much....

BTW, a face to place with the name:

Can you request a partial Savannah view if you are booking a standard view room? (I know that they can't guarantee any room request) Just wondering if that is an option for a request when I book?

....unfortunately, no....it's either a 'savannnah view room' or not....:confused3

Still possible to request to be close to the lobby, or near a feeding post (is that what they're called) while in standard? Where are they viewing locations? Sorry bout all the questions, complete newbie as far as AKL. I know about being able to see from Sanaa (where I hope to be able to eat) but haven't got a clue about other viewing locations aside from I think there is one near main lobby?

....Sanaa is at Kidani. Jiko, Boma, and the Mara are located at Jambo House. You can get a standard view room in either Giraffe or Ostrich Trails and be fairly close to eateries, especially if you request 'near lobby'....:thumbsup2

I booked an Arusha View. Am I pretty much assured of a good view or should I follow-up with a request?

What about the people pen views? Are those under regular standard view? Would it be good for them to request one of those?

I think any view on Arusha will be good. If I was booking, I would request Zebra Trail, because it's convenient to the pool and The Mara. But I don't think the view would be better or worse. :thumbsup2

....the people pen is located in Uzima Savannah - there are no standard-view rooms there....

Kim, there are people pens on all the savannahs and, yes, they were reclassified several years back as "standard view". ;)

I don't remember people pens on Arusha - I think w/ Arusha view you evacuate to the pen in Uzima savanna if you are on Zebra trail and Sunset savanna if you are on Kudu trail. Although I guess the Arusha rock viewing area could be thought of as a sort of people pen:rotfl2:
From what I've read people who booked standard sometimes get partial savanna views on both Kudu and Zebra trail although I have no idea whether these have officially been reclassified from standard to savanna view. I personally wouldn't request Giraffe or Ostrich trail with a standard view as half of those rooms are parking lot view.

Well, I'll be there in a few days so I will walk the property and figure out where each People Pen is located! It's a hard job, I know, but I'm up for the challenge! ;) I do know there's more than one! :flower3:

There are a number of partial savanna views that are now classified as "standard view". They used to be "Savanna view" and WDW routinely received complaints -- Imagine if you paid for a savanna view and got one of those rooms. :(

....:scratchin....huh.....I'm guessing that was done when many of the rooms were converted to DVC...

Kimmar, I don't remember specifically when this was done, but it's been a number of years now. They did a bunch of re-classifications at all the resorts, even adding some new "view" categories.

No surprise that the rates took a big jump around that same time!! :scared1:
