Kim, there are people pens on all the savannahs and, yes, they were reclassified several years back as "standard view".
I don't remember people pens on Arusha - I think w/ Arusha view you evacuate to the pen in Uzima savanna if you are on Zebra trail and Sunset savanna if you are on Kudu trail. Although I guess the Arusha rock viewing area could be thought of as a sort of people pen
From what I've read people who booked standard sometimes get partial savanna views on both Kudu and Zebra trail although I have no idea whether these have officially been reclassified from standard to savanna view. I personally wouldn't request Giraffe or Ostrich trail with a standard view as half of those rooms are parking lot view.

Kimmar, I don't remember specifically when this was done, but it's been a number of years now. They did a bunch of re-classifications at all the resorts, even adding some new "view" categories.
No surprise that the rates took a big jump around that same time!!
