this is actually our first trip at ASSp. last August we stayed at POR--we mostly used the resort food court for breakfasts (before most folks were up, so it was always pretty quiet) and one dinner. I can't even remember what I ate, I only remember how busy it was! I'm guessing we won't eat at the resort too much this trip (booked a few TS breakfasts) but ASSp has Mickey waffles, so I'm a happy camper :goodvibes

Getting closer....

I have been hanging out on the free dining threads to see if something is going to be offered for September. Once again it probably only be me going. No problem:)

we didnt gain weight last May either...so I plan on walking my feet off and eat and eat and eat...we are down to 19 days...I am so ready...snow if finally out of the yard...and I am hoping that when we get to Sports ..they will have an ice cream section again..I want a hot fudge sundae and have it outside next to the pool...but this gelato is not my thing...I am READY

in january 2014, no ice cream, just gelato.
which i don't like.....

really missed the ice cream that month and when i returned in sept that year.

i would be thrilled if they brought back the ice cream
(i know i am in the minority on that one)

I was talking at work yesterday about a brownie hot fudge sundae.:)

We're stayed at the All Star Movies, All Star Music, and just last week, the All Star Sports. We generally only stay for one night each month at various Disney hotels, but these are just a few of my overall first impressions after staying at All Star Sports.

General Pros:
All three hotel choices are conveniently located for using the Disney bus transport to the parks.
There is a McDonald's right outside the All Star complex, so it's a nice -cheaper if on a tight budget- alternative for picking up food before or after park visits.
It takes about 17minutes for a trip from the hotel to the Magic Kingdom from either of the 3 hotels, which isn't that bad (provided you catch a bus right away)

General Cons:
These are all older hotels, so the rooms are pretty tiny.
The mattresses are pretty hard.
Sometimes the bus routes stop at all 3 hotels. (Ie. morning run from Sports picks you up, then you stop at Music for more people, then at Movies for more people, then you get to head to the park). If you have a morning dining reservation, make sure you leave a little earlier just in case.

Ambiance:
If you are looking for a fun hotel with iconic Disney "fun" stuff, then All Star Movies is a much better choice. Sports ranks second in terms of "cuteness", since some of the decor does contain Disney character themes combined with sports items. Music ranks last, in my opinion, for decor to be appreciated by children under the age of 7. All three resorts have always been clean though!

Parking:
The Sports hotel parking lot seems a lot smaller than the other two sister hotels. In fact, the "Hoops" themed building didn't even have direct access to a parking lot. You have to park in front of building #2 and walk past it to get to the back building. It's not that far, but when it's raining, it's not that fun either.

Overall, we'd definitely stay there again if this is the best option for a lower cost, but it's definitely not my first choice. All Star Movies or Art of Animation (when you can snag the lower cost of a Mermaid room), are nicer options for a general "cute" Disney theme.

Thanks for the review. I have always went back to Sports as it is the first resort we stayed at years ago.

I'd like to double check the bed size here. I've read that they are 2 doubles, but then I've also read that they are 2 queens.:confused3

I just need to know what size of sheets to bring because of allergies.

They are doubles. Just curious, do you know where you read that they were queens?

Pretty sure the suites are the only rooms in the Values with queens.

I thought they were doubles also. I can't remember where I read that they were queens, but I remember thinking at the time "strange, I thought they were doubles" and was hoping maybe they did an upgrade when I wasn't looking.
