Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

just returned tonight and had so much fun.

i was in touchdown 7 and the room had 2 fridges.......

one in the cabinet/tv and a large one in the corner.

go figure.

Since you were staying in the Touchdown section, for that room they must have decided to go for the two-point, er fridge, conversion. :goodvibes

So glad I found this thread. DS and I are staying at All Star Sports in March; my first time staying on site in a long, long time. Can't wait to catch up on all of the info here.

I love to read about the ins and outs of the resorts...going to this one in APril...with our son and dil and our two youngest grandkids..8 and 9....they have been to Port Orleans French quarter before and also Pop Century...I think they will love the themed areas in this one..

Just back from a quick 2 night stay at All Star Sports. It was our first time at the resort and we liked it a lot. My DD10 enjoyed walking up the coke cup stairs and giant life guard stand stairs even though our room was on the ground floor. She liked the baseball pool best, because it was warmer. It also seemed to have longer hours. She loved noticing all the little details as we walked around the resort in the morning. I noticed the Mount Mickey statue was gone. What's up with that? The food court was good, but the gelato was wonderful! We had peppermint, yum! We also like the arcade which had cast members working in it and a prize redemption counter unlike the arcade at Port Orleans. The gift shop was nice, the concierge desk was helpful with ticket questions, and the outdoor movie was set up right by the surfboard pool so guest could sit in the pool chairs instead of just on towels on the grass. The room was in perfect condition. We had three people in our room, DH, DD10, and me. Since double beds are a little small for us we brought a twin air mattress for DD and my husband and I each had our own bed. That worked out great. We just moved the table and chairs to in front of the window by the door and put the mattress along the wall next to the tv cabinet. There was still plenty of room to walk between the mattress and the beds. We will definitely consider staying here again or at another all star to experience a different theme. This resort exceeded my expectations.

wow..thanks for that update...nothing better then someone that has just been there..

This makes me so excited to stay there in May. My son loves sports...LOVES them. I know theme wise this would be his favorite, and I'm so happy we chose it now based on that review :) thank you for all of the details!!

I stayed at ASSp back in September and really loved it (even with the closed down food court)....

Given a bunch of crazy life circumstances we downgraded our trip from WL to CBR and then just last week decided to move down to ASSp and im actually more excited to go now we're staying at ASSp!

We booked preferred (I just love the surfing theme around that area not to mention just steps away from the lobby) and im really excited to try out the new food court - the pictures ive seen look great!

Call me crazy but im one of those people that ranks ASSp as my favourite all star - not favourite value (that place is reserved for AoA) but also find its the best for transportation and the most quiet of the three (so long as no sports teams are visiting).

Joining the thread. I've always liked the All-Stars and have never understood some people's disdain for them. :confused3 Different strokes and all, I guess.:goodvibes

We've stayed at each All-Star and Pop 2x each and have never had a bad experience. Trying to decide where to stay on our next trips. DH wants to check out the 80's section at Pop, so I think if the kids and I head down for a short trip, we'll try out Sports again.
I'm excited to try out the new food court.::yes::

Our favorite section is the baseball section. The theming just appeals to us: DS14 has been playing for 11 years, DH coaches, and I just find it feels kind of old-fashioned which I like. We also like having a pool right there.

I agree with you on your post, but have to ask a quick unrelated question: How do I get into the small world appreciation society?!!!!

I have a back injury and am really concerned with the beds. I have read that they are very hard and one can feel the springs. Any input on this? TIA

We are staying at ASSp in November and I'm curious if there is anywhere that lists when sports teams will be at the resort? I just want to be prepared. lol

what we had in TD 7 this month, beds were great.
not hard at all.
no sinking in the middle.........lol

when you check in, ask the CM if they can find out if the beds are new in the room/building you are assigned.

new beds that haven't had much usage yet, could be hard/extra firm.

There's isn't one place to find that out. You're best bet is to check the Wide World Of Sports calendar for your time frame. This will tell you what sports event are happening on site. Then you have to check out each sport event's website to find out where the participants are staying. I haven't found an easier way yet.

I have a reservation for POP. But I am thinking of switching to Sports because it would be cheaper. This is a budget last minute trip. We are annual passholders and DVC members. However, DH won't let me use our points since he isn't going. That's the compromise so I still get my Disney but need some help choosing the hotel. It will be myself, my DD (6) and my DS (2). I have never stayed at Sports but have stayed at POP. So I have a few questions.

Can you walk to the other All Star resorts from Sports? Are there refrigerators in the room? And would this smaller resort be better to stay at than POP since I am traveling without DH and have two little ones?

Thanks for your help :)

I will be leaving in 2 weeks for 7 nights prefered room.Has anyone gotted a rollaway cot?If so do I request at checkin or before? Would it be best to call ,and what number if so? I am going with my daughter and 2 grandsons.I think they would prefer to not sleep in the same bed as Nana. I am looking forward to our stay .I have stayed at two deluxe resorts and last year at Portorleans. This was a gift for these three and I was trying to keep the cost manageable.Especially as I had already booked a trip to CSR for My 60th Birthday next month.

Good Morning Aylarosie, did you book online or through Disney's website? If you booked online, just call Disney and give them your Reservation # and tell them that you want to add a Rollaway Cot for your Room or call All Star Sports Resort at (407) 939-5000 and just do it that way. Good Luck, wish we were going. Have a Magical Day.:thumbsup2:banana:
