Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

Any word on wi-fi at Sports yet? I saw it is up and running at Pop so I assume it's jsut a matter of time until it rolls out to the All-Stars.

I stayed at All Star Sports this past weekend. We were in Surfs Up building 6. We had a fridge in the room and the free wifi was working.

Sorry if this ? has been asked before (didn't have time to read through the thread) but which non-preferred buildings would be the closest to the food court and bus stop? Also, when was the last refurbishment done at AS Sports? My kids are asking to stay here for our next trip. We stayed at AS Music in a family suite for our last trip, but since the family suite isn't eligible under the free dining promo for this Aug/Sept we are looking into getting two rooms at one of the other value resorts.

This is a fabulous thread! I will be taking my 8 year old daughter on her first trip to Disney (we arrive April 28th) and I chose All Star Sports out of all the value resorts because I stayed there in 99' and really enjoyed it. We are in the surfs up rooms as part or our Magic Your Way Package and also we are taking advantage of the quick service dining. Honestly I feel like a kid looking forward to Christmas. This will be my fourth Disney trip so I know how magical it is but what I am looking forward to the most is seeing my daughter take it in for the first time and I just know the All Star Sports resort will blow her away!
Our first full day there will be on her birthday. Does anyone know if All Star Sports does anything special for the kids on their birthday?

We will be there for our DGS's 5th birthday in June! I am hoping to possibly get a balloon and character birthday card maybe put in his room. We are also excited about this stay. This is our 2nd say at ASSports also. Our first was when our DS was 11, so it is really cool to be able to visit the 2nd time with the grandson!!

Tinkerbell I can't wait to hear about your trip! The only thing I know that they for sure do for the birthday's is give them a birthday button to wear.

if you do not have that special occassion on your ressie, the the CM when you check in you are there for a birthday celebration trip.

the bday person will receive a button to wear.
make sure it is worn in the parks.
never know what treats might happen when a CM sees it.

also, you will receive balloons and a card will be placed in your room.
ususally a card from the gang/mickey and signed by them.

that is the usual practice for any guest that stays at sports.

for some reason if this does not happen, go to the front desk in the lobby and tell them you would like the card and balloon put in your room to surprise your child.

i'm an adult and each year i find balloons and a card in my room sometime during my stay.

if the CM does not mention the birthday when you check in, do let them know.
everyone should have a bit of magical fun on their birthday!

Is there a good selection of lunch/dinner items for kids to eat at the Endzone Food Court? I was looking at a menu posted on one of the boards and it only showed like three or four kids choices.

Disneydiva it sounds like we are arriving on the same day! Excitement! If you and the kids go to the pool after the parks at night I'll be the brunette in the black Marilyn Monroe style swimsuit. This is my daughters 8th birthday celebration and where she is an only child she will be looking for some other kids to swim with which I'm sure she will find!
