Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

Just an FYI-Sports "may" be getting or "may" already have new furniture,

Orbitz is showing a picture with new furntiure-it is very nice and really "fits" the space.:)

Double bump to push up the list

We may be a small resort with not as much love, but it is home to some of us

I really think all the All Star resorts need to get their lobbies redone. All those big stars on the walls (way over done, we get the whole star thing already) and dark confused looking flooring. It just isn't as welcoming looking as it could be. Need to move the kids area off to one side and open up that area some more.

Lots more stars on the outside.

Can't find a photo but the hallway to the food court is the worst with that long wall of nothing but stars.

Anyone know if where you wait for the park buses have benches or shading? First time at AS Sports. Usually CSR is our resort. Going on a budget trip this year. Putting new roof on house.

I know you asked this a few days ago, so maybe you already found out, but the answer it no to both. The benches are back up against the building so if you sit in them you aren't waiting in the queue for the bus. The area where you stand is right in the direct sunlight which can be tough if it's going to be a long wait. Although, if it's the middle of the day and there's no one or few people waiting for the same bus, you can sit on a bench in the shade and then just get up and get on the bus when it comes.

We are hoping to arrive the afternoon before our package starts at CBR, and I was wondering what our chances would be of being able to get a day-of reservation at Sports. I am planning to call and try to get a reservation for the night as soon as we are sure we will get there far before. I would go ahead and book ahead, but we won't know when we can leave home until the morning we leave. My husband works 24-hour shifts, and it depends on how his night goes the night before we leave. He gets home at 8:00 a.m., but if he has been out all night, he will need to sleep.

Yes,SWEET HOME ALL-STAR SPORTS!!!!:)

Sports is my original Resort having stayed there for my first trip in July of 2003-Surf's Up! room with a slight view of Surfboard Bay.:)

I've returned MANY,MANY times and feel so comfortable there-it really is like my "Home away from Home".

I'm planning on returning "Home" next month and again in July.

And,as all of us "Sports People" know-we are WDW VIPs because the Bus picks us up FIRST!!!!;):)

This is HUGE if you are there when it is busy! And if you are towards the front of the line, go all the way to the back of the bus. DD26 and I go for the very back seat next to the window on either side. Not crammed in, never have to stand up, don't get peoples bags, backpacks swinging in your face, etc. :)

So I recently found out that my wife would much rather me fly then drive, so now I need to plan for bussing my way around Disney instead of driving. Are the busses at All-Star Sports still "mostly" dedicated? All of my searches seem to show the bus service here as being fine. I just want to confirm.

Thanks!

I go a couple times a year and always stay at sports

If end of sept early October for a week each time and another month I am there is May

Probably only shared busses 2 times during each trip in the evening when parks closed

And once in sept during early afternoon

We were there in February and never shared on the way to the parks or coming back after the night shows. We did share for a few days in the early afternoon on the way back to the resort. However, I don't think those buses at that time were ever standing room. Very few people. I wouldn't worry at all about coming/goings at the parks.

We did share coming and going to Disney springs. Saturday afternoon was fine, Thursday night was a complete disaster.

We rode the buses many times and only had the issue coming from Disney springs (going was full but everyone got on at all 3 resorts). I would stay again and not worry at all about using the buses.

Does anyone know if the McDonald's on property that is within walking distance of All Star Sports takes coupons? I know the last time I was there they gave a discount for being a Disney resort guest but never tried using a coupon.

After one stay at ASM and 3 at Pop considering a switch to Sports this time around.

What are your general thoughts on the rooms and food court? Trying to gather opinions to share with a larger group. Thanks!

i'm familiar with Sports and truly enjoy it.

2 years back the food court was remodeled and if flows much better.
if you pull up the menus from allears.com you will see the menu/food offereings at all 3 sister resorts there, have basically the same food items.
but if you see food you want that is not at sports, you can use any of the other two food courts.

Another Sports lover here. I like this resort better than POP. Much smaller and the regular rooms arent a mile away from the food court. The buses are great and most the time you won't even share a bus. The food court is enjoyable.

We are going to the Sports resort for the first time in Sept and it is also our first time at WDW. (I grew up in driving distance to DL so I have been there a million times.) I am so excited to read so many positive things about the specific hotel! We can not wait!
