Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

Did you get the free dining via email or visa member? Just wondering if it has hit general public yet. Im waiting...and waiting...and waiting. I want it so badly! lol

I just saw it on the Dis boards and called and asked about it and since I had a Visa card they said ok. I didn't even give them the code. Don't know if that is the norm or not. My first time booking!!

Is free dining being offered to Visa holders too now? I thought it was just for random people who got emails with pins. (which I actually got two)
Anyways, if you didn't have a pin or one connected t o your name, they can take it away (from what I have read) so just be aware.

Yes, a code came out yesterday with various ranges of dates similar to the code that was sent in emails. QXZ is the code. It seems that not only are they giving free dining but the room rates don't change when the season went from value to regular. Our reservaton starts on 9/28-10/4 and on the 2nd the rate s/b 99/night rack rate, but we received 82/night.

2 Quick questions.

Is this for this year? Is the code a general public one (ie could I phone and try to have it applied to my current reservation?)

No, you would have needed to received an email with a specific PIN or own a Disney Visa. SO FAR! I am waiting on the general public free dining to be released and I will never give up hope! ;)

Thanks for the quick reply. I have only 4 more days to keep hoping, but you never know! We missed the general public free dining by checking in 4 days too late, it looks like we may miss this one (if it's offered to the GP) by checking in 4 days too early. My advice - avoid the week we picked.

Oh well. We are paid. We have a 30% room rate discount (pin code), and the crowds should be low. All great things. :thumbsup2 (But it sure would be nice to drum up some last minute extra spending cash)

Oh how exciting!! Lucky you guys! We have 80-something days left. lol This pin is mainly in Nov and Dec for the free dining though *I think*. I guess I tend to disregard the other days other than my own.

What is the Mighty Duck section like .Am leaning towards it as it is standard and near a pool. I hear it is closer to Music's foodcourt and buses!!

You can definitely request a room in the Mighty Ducks section, but it won't be guaranteed.
Here is a link to some pictures at ASmovies. You can scroll down to the Mighty Ducks section. It is based on the hockey team with big hockey sticks everywhere. :) Pretty much summs it up.

We want a standard room which is why we were thinking of Mighty Ducks As we could be poolside and I hear it is not too far to the Foodcourt at Music !! Any thoughts comments welcome . Our friend is taliking about Sports but I like the theming at movies better and I don't see anywhere where we could get poolside for standard price !!

hey! I just got back from a week at the Movies. First time staying there. We stayed in the Toy Story section. specifically, the Buzz building on the first floor.

just a few things to report.

the rooms were clean, we had 2 connecting rooms. The foodcourt wasnt as good as Pop Century, but still Ok. (we always stay at Pop)

the ONLY problems we had were the busses. Most of the times you had to share busses with music and sports which slowed things down. At MK and EPCOT they had separate bus stops for all 3 resorts, it was much quicker that way. at AK it was one big bus stop for all the all stars. It got a bit annoying. A few times we had a long wait. and once the bus came, it stopped at sports, then music before arriving back to movies. and when they stopped, they had people get on and off at the same time. We were over an hour late for our dinner reservations one night, coming from AK trying to get back to Movies then transfering to a MK bus. I know a lot of people were complaining. Because of the bus issue we will probable stay at Pop again.

i hope its ok i posted this? I dont mean to be negative.. other than the bus situation everything was good.

If anyone has any specific questions, please feel free to ask.

So glad to read a recent review!!! Thanks for posting!

We're going in January and are hopefully staying in the Toy Story section. I was getting worried after reading a few reviews about ASMo being run down and not clean. I've heard bad things about the bus situation too but we are driving so lucky for us that won't matter too much for us.

Thanks for updates on ASMo!
I finally did it! I had a slow day, and read through this WHOLE THREAD!:rotfl:
Thank my mind is now boggled up with more information than needed. Leaves you wanting more updates now, as this was started years ago, and still seems to be the same comlpaints. I am glad to hear the room cleanliness is good, especially after I read about the towel incident early on:scared1:.

I don't beleive they do. I could be wrong though. Or perhaps you can rent the player? I think I read the deluxes have them.

Hi, just back from ASMo.:sad2: We stayed in the Love Bug section. There is no DVD player, only the TV. We had a wonderful time there. Very quite section and not a bad walk. The motel is showing some age, but we would stay again. We had great mousekeepers, especially a few days that they "staged" my grandsons toys. Always brought extra towels to the room if we needed them, everyone was helpful and polite. We did have our own vehicles, so used them most of the time. Used the buses to MK and would recommend that to everyone. Buses will drop you off at the gate at MK, if you drive, you have to take a monorail or ferry to the main gate from the parking lot. One word of advise, avoid the food court in the mornings between 8:30 and 10:00.....it was wild......

When we arrived at ASMovies both of our rooms had towels on the bed in the shape of Mickey. I have never had a towel animal ever! so i was excited to see this!! lol

Some people said the foodcourt was crowded and it was! In the mornings and late at night after the parks closed it seemed everyone stormed the food court. The lines were very long... and in the mornings it was hard to find a seat. Oh another thing, it seemed none of the ice at the soda fountains were filled. Just small stuff... but I had a wonderful time...and I dont regret staying there.. Im actually glad I was able to experinece another resort besides Pop. Over at ASMusic they had movie night every night at the pool, but we never made it over there to check it out..

I noticed they moved all the "family sized" snacks like the big bag of chips (including chip n dale's snacks )and donuts into the store. Last time at Pop they were in the foodcourt. I guess because they changed the the dining plan, only includes single portions for snack options, maybe they decided to move the big bags/boxes out of the foodcourt.. Also, no bottled soda in the foodcourt, only sold in the resort store.. they also sell the Full Throttle energy beverage in the store as well.

Also, the refillable mugs are "year of a million dreams" all the same.. not the standard "All Star Movies" mugs. I saw some people who must have brought back the regular ASMovies mug to use. (drink stealers) lol =P

Mousekeeping showed up every morning about the same time.. early! If you plan on sleeping in, put the do not disturb sign up.. They were there like clockwork at 8:30-8:45am... but we had really clean rooms and extra towels and soap without asking for them...

We were in room 0742 and 0743

my brother on RC.. we walked by him everyday on our way to the busses and foodcourt

It was really cute! The HUGE Door "Andy's Room" was the doorway into the Toy Story section.

The Pool was always very warm too.. lots people swimming even late at night after midnight...

If I think of any other tidbits I'll definetely post them!!

=D

I was wondering if I can order a cake from All Star Movies? I have heard that Pop does this. Wondering what you all think?

Ok, well i got the phn number off the front page and I did indeed call them. She said that I need to call 7 days before we arrive and order it. She wasn't able to give me cake sizes flavours or costs:confused3 . She insisted that 7 days out I can get all that information. So I know they offer it, but I'm big on planning and would like to know my options. If I don't like the options, I will have to get a cake elsewhere.
