Hello all!

DH and I went to Old Sacramento today to check out the Disney's A Christmas Carol Train Tour and it was "fully awesome"!!! We got there early, about 9:15 am to get in line to check out the train and a preview of the not yet complete movie starring Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Cary Elwes, and Robin Wright-Penn. The train itself is filled with screen showing the concept art and character art and showing how they made the film using motioin capture. The art truly is beautiful. Then in the last few cars, you can interactively check out more of the art and then you can morph your face into a character in the movie! Pretty neat stuff. You even get to have the pictures e-mailed to you for free.

Once you are done in the train, you head over to the theater that they brought with them. Have you ever seen one of those jump houses? Well, that is sort of what the theater is like. It is an inflatable building with a movie theater inside and on the outside it looks like a classic london building. They give you 3D glasses and you get to enjoy 2 scenes from the film and a little more behind the scenes commentary. popcorn::

As for the movie itself, Robert Zemedkis is a genius and with this movie he has done it again. The film's scope is amazing, the art is gorgeous and the actors are extremely well cast (Jim Carrey plays 5 characters, Gary Oldman plays 2.)

Oh, and did I mention that they bring out the snow machines so it snows like Main Street, USA at Christmas? Now that is pixie dust. pixiedust:

Trust me, if you are anywhere on the tour route, definately check it out. I give it :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 way up.

How long was your wait? We plan to see it when it comes ot Oakland next weekend. -- Suzanne

We have to wait til August. But it will be her in San Antonio August 17th which is our wedding anniversary- can't wait!

So glad you enjoyed it!

Our review of it (from Los Angeles), with an interview with Robert Gault from Disney, will air on a special Disneyland edition of the podcast on Friday this coming week. We had a special tour with the man in charge of the train tour and his assistant. We'll also have a full blog with photos up by then as well.

To see the train, we had to wait about 45 minutes. But they handed out themed activity sheets (with a word search, word jumble, , etc.) that was fun even for an adult. We actually laughed because the line looked so short, but it wound around it seemed like forever and we said it was like the jungle cruise. Disney can be sneaky with those queues! For the movie preview after the train, we had to wait about 5 minutes.

I'll see if DH can e-mail me the photo he took of the train with his ipod and try to post later.

We went today and LOVED IT!! The wait was longer than we thought it would be, but they had activities including musicians and jugglers along the way. The displays were spectacular! Here are a few pictures.....

There was quite a bit more, but I don't want to bore anyone!

Look for the blog on Friday for more photos. I'm trying to do some composite collages for it.

BTW - I had friends who tried to see it in Sacramento and there was a 7 hour wait at one point! OMG!!!

We went on Saturday, got there at about 3pm and we had a 2 1/2 hour wait!
Super long, but it was fun to watch the juggler on the unicycle and the train experience was awesome!
Glad Disney brought out some magic to us!
