DisneyQuest was Worth It

If you are wondering about DisneyQuest or on the fence, here are some things to think about. I highly recommend it if you have kids who like video games and/or you like or liked video games yourself. If you think of it as another "theme park" you will be disappointed. It is an old school arcade Disney style. They have a handful of larger scale virtual reality games (favorite was pirates with cannons with firing mechanisms like TSM at HS), and all of these will have lines depending on day/time.
However, the highlight was the huge collection of classic pinball, classic arcade, new arcade games, skeeball, etc that were all free. You just walk up to any game and play. They have a racing section, sports section, music/dance section, guns/fighting (battling dinosaurs/creatures, but not people), toddler area, classic, and your bigger vr games.
If you need a down day or looking for a way to spend a couple of hours, got the water park and more option, you have those in your fam who like to play games, I recommend. ($40 or so would be a pretty steep arcade trip if you just took 1 day) We took our DS 6 and DD 3 and they loved it. However, be warned, it is loud and when you come out you will feel like you just went to a rock concert.
Hope this helps.

We had thought about it last time but had none, this time we may do a half day at AK and have the afternoon free.

what kind of games were there for younger kids? I see you have a 3 year old. what did your young one play?

Anyone have pics of this place? I think my DS10 would like it. ;) How much does it cost to get in if you are paying cash?

They have a section for the little guys - shooting baskets, catching popcorn - they are sized more for little guys - even an air hockey table...

If your 10 year old is into games, I am sure he will love it... I want to say the price is around $40 for the day per person, slightly less for kids, but I am not sure what the kid cutoff is.. There are games with height restrictions too like the Ducks Pinball & Astoblaster games...

My nine year old grandson loves this place. When we go that's always the first place he wants to visit. That and the pool at the resort, lol.

Sounds like a great opportunity for my DS10! Do you think a young one (DD will be 4 at the time of travel) would get a lot from it though or be bored? I was thinking my DH could take DS here and I could take DS to BBB for a makeover if there isn't enough for the little ones.

DS9 had a good time there. We had DQ as part of our AP premium. That said, I didn't care for it.

I'm not a video game person and it's very dark and loud in there. They did have some games for the little one, but the place seemed a little less than clean.

DH did the games with ds and I sat in the teeny tiny cafe type thing by myself for a while.

I think $40 is a lot to pay to have your kid play guitar hero that he already had at home.

Years ago you could just get a card and put $$ on it and spend much less.

My DD3 who is quite the "girly girl" ; ) loved the pirate game on pretend boat shooting pretend cannons. I was very surprised as we went mostly for our
DS6 at how much fun she had. However, my DS could have stayed nearly all day while DD was really finished after 2 or 3 hours. (as were the grown-ups due to the rock concert effect felt much more after we were outside) It is also nice in the FL heat being inside the whole time around 3pm. Hope everyone has fun.

There are a variety of kid games, but be aware that it is a small section on one floor (the 4th floor).

A one day ticket for ages 10+ is $41 plus tax. For ages 3-9 it is $35 plus tax. Children under 3 are free, but strollers are not allowed in the building.

We're considering it - didnt go last year and commando toured the other parks. It's hard to set aside time to go to DTD and DQ for us - we have WP&M, but just dont want to regret the decision after the fact when we could have spent the day in one of the main parks. Our flight leaves late on departure day, so considering spending some at DQ that day as it's somewhat convenient to go from POR on the boat. This thread is pushing me toward trying it.

We've been to Disney twice in recent years and are planning our third trip for August. So far, we have not made the trip to Disney Quest but we're hoping to this time around. It sounds like fun and thanks for the info.

We went to DQ on our last trip (07) and DS 11 and 7 LOVED it! They thought it was the best thing in the world that all the games were FREE! We had a WP&M add on on the tickets so it sort of was free. We are SO looking forward to our next visit there!

PS Hubby and I loved it too! We weren't bored at all...but we're 'game' people :)

My kids really enjoyed it. The Pirate buccaneers attraction and dino-raft ride were really cool.

Thanks for the review. We're paying for Typhoon Lagoon tickets, and we've been thinking about jurst adding the WPF&M option, since it's only about $7 per person more than the single day tickets to TL anyway. We have about 4-5 hours on our arrival day and thought Disney Quest would be worth the extra $28. Sounds like it definitely will be! :thumbsup2

Disney Quest doesn't open until about 11 or 11:30AM.

So it'd be alright to plan to go to DQ for a few hours? My boyfriend is into video games and wants to go, but I don't think I could deal with it for a whole day :P Will he feel like he's missing stuff?

I think a few hours at DQ is sufficient if you go during the day. We were there last week, and if you go during the day, the crowds are pretty moderate. I have heard that at night they are heavier, though.

Have to agree that if you are into video games, this is a great stop. I have 3 thirteen year old boys, 2 of them chose it as their "park they definitely want to hit again before leaving" at the end of our trip (the other chose Typhoon Lagoon--he loved the Shark Reef). I would never have chosen it over one of the regular parks, but I am not a teenaged boy!

This past fall, I took 2 of my kids down for a week. (boys 15 and almost 10) I needed a day of peace and quiet to myself....just wanted to walk around with nothing to do. So, we went to DDD. Both boys went into DQ for the first time. They loved it!!! I think they were in there for abuot 6 hours...minus a quick dinner at WGP cafe across from DQ. I did not go in with them, but they sure seemed to want to return.

Great reviews. We are going in august, and got the water parks and more, so we'll check it out. My DS is 8 and loves video games. I thought it might be nice to get out of the heat for a while too.
