We are a family of 7 with premium annual passes. We upgraded to the PAP for the water parks, golf and DQ. Now I can save a little money (actually a lot of money) and downgrade to the regular annual pass, pay for the water parks (if we go at all) and play golf at home. Saves me some money and the long walk to the west side since there is no longer bus service there. Sounds like a win for me!

What a disappointment. DQ badly needs a refurb, but even in its current state, we look forward to it. We make at least 2 if not 3 visits per trip. DQ was the only reason we ever visited DTD. I will now be dropping the water parks and (what used to be) more option from our ticket. If I take 2 water park days and 2 half days for DQ out of the schedule I can buy a 3 day ticket at Universal. The Disney experience keeps contracting. There was already far less to do at Hollywood Studios than on our last trip, now closing DQ is the tipping point that causes me to change from a pure Disney vacation to an Orlando vacation.

Pirates of the Caribbean, Buzz Lightyear, Build your own coaster...those are the kind of things you expect to do at Disney World. Eating in an overpriced restaurant, shopping in an overpriced store full of stuff pertaining to a sport you have no interest in, and proving you can't shoot a virtual basketball any better than a real one holds no interest for me or my family. I am more excited about the return of Captain EO than visiting an nba experience.

I agree with some pp's....NBA experience? so now Disney is reusing Universals' failed experiments and calling it an equal replacement for a whole building attraction? (I personally didn't like DQ much, but my teens sure did) I think DQ needed some updating, but 2 attractions in one day announced closed...... 2 big ones.....:confused3 I think the disney company might be running a few endurance tests of their own on loyalty customers....it sure feels like it.

Disney Springs is going to be a shopping center with bits of unique creations since it is Disney, but it will mostly be outside,Disney approved vendors. If it was up to me you would have Haunted Mansion and Star Wars themed restaurants, the only hint of anything unique like this going in is the Indiana Jones bar going in next to the Boathouse, but this will be small,no huge expense in construction and guaranteed to be profitable if its anywhere as popular as Trader Sam's at the Poly with its $20+ drinks.Disney prefers to have outside companies handle and take the risks of building the major venues.

Yeah I know all about Disney Springs and what it entails. My point was that NBA just seems so BLAH. It's redundant based on what Universal has done and I'd argue that NFL is more popular and would make for a better theme. I get that the NBA is the one who contracted with them but it just seems so ho hum. Oh well!

MOre upset that the animation Academy is closing. Guess it's one more hint that the "new"---name to be announced later---Hollywood Studios, is getting farther away from the "studios" concept

Does anyone have an idea of about how far out Disney makes official closing dates public once they are finalized? Due to an emergency at home we just flew home early last week from an Orlando trip that didn't include Disney parks but did include a planned day for DQ. Soonest we can get back is first week of May after my son finishes drumline competition season. I've never been to DQ, but my boys haven't been in 3 years and they still talk about it.

We did go to NBA City while we were there. We're not a sports family and it was fine. You don't have to be a basketball fan to enjoy it. I think kids/teens/young adults would enjoy basketball themed games regardless of whether they play or are fans at home. There were other restaurants more appealing to me, but we went to try the cinnamon strawberries dessert I read about (and which I read a RUMOR that it was coming to the new Disney place). It might have success at Disney...I just wish it wasn't at the expense of something my own kids love so much.

My bigger question is what will they do with all the attractions inside?

Send some of the arcade machines to the resort arcades I suppose, but I hope that the more unique ones are kept together and moved to either Innovations in EPCOT or put in one of the abandoned buildings in HS whilst HS is being redeveloped.

Places close for many reasons, obviously ABC being the network that carries many of the NBA games has something to do with it.I ate several times at NBA city at Universal and I never seemed empty or had bad food,in fact they had a really good BBQ chicken pizza that I had a couple of times. One of the rumored replacements for NBA city at Universal is Cheesecake Factory, which is a bit of a strange choice since its a pretty common restaurant in many malls across the U.S.But given that Universal gets a bigger percentage of International visitors where CCF is not as common it may not be a bad choice, either way I'm sure a Cheesecake Factory there would be more popular and Universal will make more money with them there than an NBA city.I'm really curious how Disney plans to use that huge building for the new NBA experience, what else will it include besides a restaurant, they're obviously going to have to open up the building with Windows and open spaces which would be a huge upgrade to the ambiance to that huge teal/purple building.

Ooooo more of a reason to visit Universal, I love Cheesecake Factory! Even though I have one about 15 mins away at home. Its actually one of the restaurants I ate at on my last DL trip since its not far. Too bad DTD (DS...whatever they are calling it now) didn't get Cheesecake Factory instead! Have absolutely no interest in a basketball themed restaurant/store. Hockey is the only sport I enjoy going to a game.

Plenty other restaurants at DTD that much more appeal to me & family/friends traveling with.

Great ideas and agree. They need more DISNEY themed attractions/restaurants. Like another poster said Broadway shows. Ice shows during certain hours & skating with characters other hours (Perhaps PAP & WP&M could include 1 hour skating with characters). UPDATED DQ. A new PI would be awesome.

Very disappointing everything that used to be unique about DTD (NOT dining/shopping) is slowly getting removed. Whats next on the chopping block La Nouba? Instead of Disney Springs maybe they should just call it what it is: Disney Mall. Each trip now I have less and less of an interest in going to DTD/DS.

I agree with others DQ was dated and needed some tlc in updating attractions. But I enjoyed the place as well. Not worth the gate price but was worth a trip or 2 per visit with DVC PAP, WP&M tickets or with free vouchers on Disney package.

I bet DQ would do great if it was more like Dave and Busters. My husband and I would spend tons of time/money at a Disney-themed D&B

Haven't been to D&B in a few years now but use to really enjoy a night there. Have one in same mall about 15 mins away that Cheesecake Factory in.

Tinsel Town, Tinsel Town, Tinsel Town. If I just keep repeating it, hopefully the disney gods will hear it... lol
