My fiance and I are going on a Disneymoon in September, after our wedding in June.

This will be his first time to WDW since he was a little kid, and honestly he doesn't remember ANYTHING about WDW. I, on the other hand, pretty much grew up there so I know the ins and outs of the place. We DID get engaged there, in which he flew down the day he proposed and surprised me at the Magic Kingdom when I was there with parents, and since it was our last day, we only had time to ride Space Mtn, Splash Mtn, and saw Mickey's PhilharMagic. He enjoyed them all and likes MK (even though, in my opinion, it is the most "kid-oriented" park there). He says he LIKES WDW.

My question is, how can I get him to LOVE it as much as I do?

Is there anything special we can do on our Disneymoon? Honestly, I've only experienced Disney as a kid, and I would like to know how we can experience it as "adults" and "kids-at-heart." I want my DF to be impressed and blown away and want to come BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, please post your ideas, suggestions, and experiences in having the BEST Disneymoon a Disney fan and her husband can have!

Well, I don't think there is anything in particular you can do to get him to LOVE Disney. He either is going to or not. But, I would suggest things like RNR, MS, and EE. Those rides will give him the idea that Disney is more than just for kiddies. Also, go to EPCOT and try the different food and drinks from around the world. I am not sure how long you are going to be there, but you might be there for the start of the Food and Wine festival. It is awesome, and definitely not kiddie stuff. My best suggestion is to get a Disney guide book for Adults (or a general guide book), and let him have at it. I am sure he will find something that he will be really interested in, and may possibly love. GL

I definitely agree Epcot is a great place to go to experience things out of the ordinary. My DF is a movie fan and when he vacationed with my family on two trips he loved MGM.

I also suggest exploring outside the parks. There are so many great things to do at the different resorts depending on your interests- golfing, parasailing (so much fun if you don't mind heights!), boating, horseback riding, etc. My DF loves Disney Quest too.

I also suggest renting a boat for a Wishes or Illuminations cruise. I have done both and these are a great experience! Also, take time for things such as enjoying the Water Pageant on the beach or do something extraordinary like eating at the Chef's table at Victoria and Albert's. Of course more cost effective alternatives are a dinner show or tickets to Cirque du Soleil.

Take a behind the scenes tour at one of the parks. These are a lot of fun and can be pretty interesting.

I second figment's idea of a behind-the-scenes tour. We're doing 4 during the week we'll be Disneymooning. They have tours for everyone: Disneyphiles (keys to the kingdom, Walt's life-type stuff), gardeners (Epcot's greenhouse, etc.), animal lovers (Animal Kingdom, obviously), even people who like Segways (there are two Segway tours, also available at Epcot). And more! (I sound like a Disney infomercial)

Good luck turning your guy over to the "dark" side!

I'm not sure that you'll get him to love it like you do.....I am still working on it with my DF! I think I may have him a little Disney'd out.....My best advice is to not rush him around or get him up at the crack of dawn (unless he likes that sort of thing). When I go w/ DF, we take it easy (almost like it's an actual vacation or something ;) ). Since we live only 3 hours away, we can take weekend trips and I don't have to go crazy trying to do everything in one trip.
I would recommend some of the nicer restaurants - California Grill, Artist's Point, Yachtsman Steakhouse, for a more "adult" feel.
Also, if you are into golf or other recreational activities, there's plenty to do at the resorts.
You could try Pleasure Island or the Boardwalk for some evening entertainment. I would recomment La Nouba for sure.

We all hope our DF/DH will be Disney nuts like we are, but if they aren't, we can just be thankful that they support our "habit" and are willing to have the wedding there!
Good luck!!!! :thumbsup2

Yes it looks like we are taking an 8-day trip. I've explained to my DF that we will need a day to relax after a day at the park to "recover" so hopefully I can have my cake and eat it too...meaning on those park days we'll be getting up early and running around the parks. But yes I do think that we all should be thankful our men "support" our habit even if they don't love it as much as we do!:lmao:

I am sort of in the same boat as you are. Me and my fiance will be honeymooning at Disney World in July. My fiance was more than happy to honeymoon there if I wanted to. I wanted to go because I have only been once before (last summer) and I just did not get my feel of it! We are actually staying off Disney property at this really nice place so that we aren't having a strictly Disney only honeymoon. We are also going to make sure that we spend lots of time at the Animal Kingdom park because that is my fiance's favorite park. He loves the safari rides. So I think that with those compromises, we will have an awesome honeymoon! Also, I will post my trip report when I come back and maybe you can get some more ideas from there. Hope this helps!

This wont make him LOVE it more than you-- but here is a thread that made me want to dig up this thread and post it here. This might give you some helpful Disney tips :) http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=729664

ETA: this hasnt been updated in a while I can tell-- so some of the things like the umbrella at MGM are no longer there- but this is still fun regaurdless!

One thing you could do for a really nice romantic night would be to time your dinner at O'hanas with Wishes and once you get out of dinner there the fireowrks are and you can watch them on the docks at the poly. I loved that...it was so romantical.

I thought I was the only one who said that word-- ha:laughing:

You two sound so much like my DH and I! I grew up going every year, and my DH had only been once before our honeymoon, and that was when he was in a stroller! So I wanted him to love it as much as I did, even though now I mention going again so soon, he says I have to promise that we will go somewhere else next time we get a vacation!:confused3 (We went back 5 months after our honeymoon!) But I have promised to go somewhere else, if he lets me get my Disney fix every once in a while!

Anyway, about the honeymoon- The thing I tried to do is put myself in his shoes and try to experience it all again like it was my first time there! Don't spoil any surprises, and if your hubby is like mine, he will want to do everything! Take your time and don't try to rush each day- We enjoyed just sitting on our balcony some mornings and late nights and just taking in the surroundings, that can be so romantic!

Definitely have dinner at some of the more romantic places- We LOVED California Grill, and we had a GREAT table with the best view of the castle! Plus, watching Wishes from the top of the CR is wonderful!

Hope you two have a wonderful time and hope he comes back loving it as much as you!
