Paradise Pier Resort:

Has anyone stayed at this resort recently? I understand there have been recent renovations and the rooms have a beach theme. Are they nice? Also, how far is it from the Grand Californian? Is it true that the two hotels are basically across from each other and that you walk over to GC to get into Disneyland?

We just stayed there. The rooms do have a beach theme. There are beachball pillows on the bed which DD loved. We thought PP was really nice and would stay there again. Yes, you can easily walk to the GC to get to the parks.

Cute beachy feel to it. It walk is really EASY from PPH to GCH. In fact I think the walk can be shorter sometimes then staying at the GCH depending on where your room is in the GCH. By staying there you can use the DL resort entrance to CA if you want. You can also use Pinocchio's Workshop if you want to leave the kids in childcare and go out with your spouse. I would stay there again.

Recent is relative, it's not shiny and new from the renovation a few years ago.


Bascially it is across from GCH, almost. Except GCH is next to the parks. No rooms in PPH are closer than the rooms in PPH, but it's close for a small part of the rooms.

GCH has an entry into DCA, from PPH you can use this. From PPH you can cut through the GCH and out into DTD to get to DL.

From PPH exit to Disneyland Drive. Go up the sidewalk to the north east corner of PPH and cross Disneyland Dr. Follow the sidewalk into the GCH. Go in and left along the registration desk.

At the end of the desk a sign will point right to DCA, go this way along the back of the lobby. Out the doors, and you will walk between the hotel and its pool area. At the end of this walkway it jogs right, make a left through the tunnel under the building, you will see security and the turnstyles there.

To DL got strait along the registration desk and continue past the right to DCA. Go strait out into DTD, DL security is to the right once outside about 200 yards east.

We LOVE Paradise Pier Hotel! It's a favorite! We love the beach themed rooms, especially the lifeguard Mickey lamp and beach ball pillows. We love the California Streamin' water "roller coaster" slide at the pool, the awesome character breakfast at the PCH Grill (the only character meal with the BIG Cheese, himself), the glass elevator with great views of Califonia Adventure, and the kids tv room off the lobby with beach chairs and the tv inside a large Disney sand castle! The walk is very easy as stated in the posts above. you just walk across the street to the Grand Californian and from there use the resort guest entrance into DCA or cut into Downtown Disney for a quick entrance to DL Park. Enjoy your stay!

I am so torn about concierge though....

Good to know the hotel is nice! I wanted to take my family to the hotel, but was a little unsure about the quality/convenience of it.

We'll be there Dec 23 - 27. We do concierge service and get a CA/WOC view suite. I don't know if we'll ever stay anywhere else again. The staff is incredible (see my post in the thread about Disneyland Magic), the rooms are fun, and the view is too much! We are a big family so concierge is totally worth it for us. We get two water bottles a piece each morning before heading to the park, when we stop in for coffee and a light breakfast. It isn't the fanciest set up, but it's breakfast rolls, cereal and fruit with other things here and there. We are big fruit eaters, so this works well for us. There is also juice and soda available (just ask if you don't see it). In the evening they have light snacks like teriyaki skewers, egg rolls and such. Honestly, that part I could take or leave, but the chocolate covered strawberries, yum! They also have sweets and cookies out most of the time and big chocolate chip cookies some evenings. It works for us.

Ditto..we were there about a week and a half ago. Beach themed, my kids went nuts for the beach ball pillows too and it was a quick walk to GC..basically within site and across the street.

We really liked it and would definitely stay there again. I found the beds really comfortable as well and I can rarely sleep comfortably in hotel beds.

The more people in your party the better the cost/benefit tips in your favor. Me and the Mrs. stayed last Aug and really did enjoy the perk. Water, soda,snacks and breakfast made for a stress free visit. No hassles with were to eat breakfast or having to spend $ buying bottled water in the park.

I echo what everyone says here, my DH and I recently stayed here and loved it. I posted pictures in another thread. We would definitely stay there again.

By the way if you take home one of those Beach Ball pillows, they will charge you $65.

We just checked out on 10/26. I guess I will be the one desenting vote against PPH.

The theme is cute and approriate for the hotel, but it's hard for me to see this as a DLR hotel because it was not a DL hotel originally.

The CMs are ok but I have yet to be impressed by any outstanding service.

While the walk through the GC is convinient I just feel ackward using another hotel as my pathway when I am not a guest there.

The pool area is substandard, IMHO. It seems old and average. When my daughter went to the pool this past Sun. there was no where to get a beverage or food and she felt we have nicer lounge chairs on our patio at home than the ones there.

If you are staying in a room on a lower floor you can wait an unreasonable time to get in an elevator. We overheard several groups say they waited 20-30 minutes for an elevator in the morning. We were on the 11th floor so we'd just take one going up to assure there was space for us going down.

We stayed there this time because I had a low rate pin code, were only there for 5 days and the DLH is still fairly difficult to navigate due to construction. The only other time I stayed there was Oct 2009 when the rate was $100 a night and I upgraded to concierge that trip. The concierge at PPH is not nearky as nice as the ones at GC and DLH. I didn't upgrade this time because the lounge closes at 8pm making it very limited usage for us.

I kept looking and hoping for a reason to stay there again and the only perk I found was the plate of rice krispie treats shaped like surf boards and to me that just isn't enough to go back again.

Our future stays will be at DLH.

go to www.disney.com and plug in your dates--and you may know your answer.

A Suite is often more money per night (it really depends on the particular night, so no one can give you an accurate answer here)---so call the disney line and ask them for the price for your nights of stay.

You can't book suites at PPH on-line. You have to call reservations. They aren't cheap. I don't want to scare you with our Christmas price for a two room suite (it's a lot, but there are a lot of us, so it works for us). In May it was cheaper to get a suite at PPH than two rooms at DLH, that's how we ended up there in the first place!

Wanted to say that you may be able to book PPH suites on-line. They have never been available when I have looked on-line, although I've been able to get offers/quotes for suites at both DLH and The Grand on-line.
