My DS was just diagnosed with severe milk and egg allergies and moderate peanut. He will be 15 months when we go to Dland. Is there anything there that he will be able to eat for meals or snacks? Will they let me bring in a soft sided cooler? We were just planning on him sharing meals with his brother, but we're now on to Plan B. :)

Thanks!

The Disneyland Resort aims to make eating at our Restaurants as seamless a process as possible for our Guests with Food Allergies.

If you are making a Priority Seating arrangement at one of our Table Service Restaurants, please inform the Disney Dining Host or Hostess when you make your arrangements. You should reconfirm these arrangements when checking in with the Host or Hostess at the restaurant. Our chefs will work to accommodate all Food Allergies.

If you are dining at one of our Table Service Restaurants on a walk-up basis, please inform the Host or Hostess at the podium of your needs.

At our various Quick Service Restaurants, please ask to speak with a Chef or Manager, who will be able to assist you in making healthy and safe choices. Please know that you do not need to wait in line to speak to a Chef or Manager.

At our various Vending carts, please consult with the Host or Hostess present. You may also inquire at City Hall in Disneyland Park or the Guest Relations Lobby in Disney's California Adventure Park to determine healthy and safe choices.

Welcome to the allergy club! :thumbsup2

The best thing to do is to research snack foods before vacationing. We have 1 severe peanut allergy (DH) & then 3 out of 4 of us have a strong sensitivity to wheat & dairy, no anaphylactic shock or anything, just bad bloating/fatigue/sinuses. So we can eat it...we're just careful how much.

For us we stuck w/ snacks from home - it made life easier. Fresh fruit is an easy one, rice crackers, soy yogurt & beans....ummm....

My kids would eat refried beans when we did mexican - corn tortillas nstead of flour. DH refuses to eat Thai (they use peanuts often)....be careful of soups, you can't tell what's inside most the time.

One thing I did when my DS was young is puree crackers (rice not wheat), slice the bananas & roll them in the crackers. This made it easier for little fingers to grab. Maybe not good for Disney but a tip I used for a long time! ;)

What else...hmm...if you start looking around Whole Foods (baby food aisle too!) you'll be introduced to a whole new world. Whole Foods makes it easy to shop for an allergic family. Organic too so that helps!

HTH some :goodvibes

Also - SMALL soft sided cooler is ok! ;)

You should also check at City Hall and ask for the food allergy lists. It will list which restaurants offer food for the allergy you have. For example, my DD has sensitivities to wheat so we use the Celiac DL list and have been quite successfull finding lots of food she can eat at the parks.

:)Unless something has changed, the only list they have at City Hall is the Celiac's list. They don't have lists for different types of food allergies. You can, however, contact the chefs at the restaurants that you plan to visit and they will work with you with whatever allergy you have.

Thanks so much everyone! Does anyone know how I go about asking a chef at a counter service restaurant "without waiting in line?"

Since he'll only be 15 months I think I can probably pack him some food pretty easy. I'm concerned what I can feed him when DS is having a Mickey ice cream or rice crispie treat or something. Does anyone know off hand any treats there that are dairy/egg/nut free?

I'm headed to the whole foods store this weekend to see what I can find.

Just walk up to the counter and ask any CM even a table busser for the site chef or manager. Ther eare no allergy lists other than the one for celiac and kosher.

I am crashing tired so when I get back I will see what I can find for you.

i saw some one do this. Ask some one going soon to ask for a list an send it to you for the cost of a stamp im sure some one would help you

I have the egg info and am not wasting a stamp to mail it out. Only gluten free and kosher have any lists. All other special diets say to talk to the chef or manager of the restaurant. That is why I do not send out copies of the info for egg and peanut allergies. All it says is talk to the chef.

One dude high up on the restaurants told me to tell everyone in all caps:
TALK TO THE CHEFS AT RESTAURANTS.

Yes, I told them how the allergen lists help guest at WDW but they will not do that at DLR. I explained and tried my hardest but do not want an escort out of town, lol. No food list available, no knowing what is available until you get to the restaurant.

Laurie instead of "wasting stamps" can you scan it into your computer? Then you could share it with others who would then be able to share it as well.

I just did, lol.

All it says is for persons with egg allergies to contact the chef at the restaurant. No use sending copies of information which everyone knows and helps nobody. Below is a copy and the same for diabetes, lactose intolerance, peanuts, and eggs. That was last revised 11/22/2007

They have 5 kosher meals according to that form and have a second kosher list that I miss placed.

Guests with egg allergies can find out detailed ingredient information by speaking to a location manager. (Be sure to inform the Guest that it is not necessary to wait in line to speak to a manager, simply ask the nearest Cast Member). If a Guest needs additional assistance, pleas refer them to a Chef.

LOL too funny.....it's too bad that it's so vague on egg allergies. Maybe this should also be posted in the dining thread that's stickied?

I think the chefs hide when they see me coming. I talked to them and pleaded our case. I know from that list what is possible though sometimes a little work with a chef gets you more. I can tell p0eople about GF experiences so maybe if we start pooling together out knowledge we can make some allergen lists like what is safe and not safe. I would hate to be on a trip with so many minutes to see stuff but have to spend 30 minutes waiting for chefs and the having special foods made or finding out nothing is available to eat.

I understand that they have old equipment at times and small kitchens but still it is hard to be traveling and not even know if you can eat anything at a restaurant.

I can advise people of GF but have no clue about soy content. I eat at my risk all food at DLR. Some salad dressings are soy free but most are not. They use canola oil from what I heard and a dedicated fryer for french fries usually and unilke mcdonalds I have never had a reaction to french fries.

Ya, I know some about Celiac's and the Gluten Free options DL has but that's it really. Luckily no one in our family suffers from severe allergies to foods so we don't really worry too much about it. I do suffer slightly from a shellfish allergy but it's well in hand and I'm just careful about where I actually shellfish. I haven't had any problem with anything at DL so far. I know GF because my BFF has Celiac's.
