Disneyland with a walking boot

There should be a sticky for this, lol.
There will be a handicapped sign usually indicating to use the exit.

Roger Rabbit, Bobsleds, Buzz Lightyear, Pooh, character homes, all DCA rides except for the rapids and I think Mullholland Madness, Fantasy Fair, Pixie Hollow, all shows, are through the entrance just like other guests.
  • Mr. Toad go to the entrance and on the right is a little line to enter.
  • Gadget's Coaster on the left at the exit you enter.
  • Small World on the left side of the entrance is the wheelchair entrance.
  • Splash Mountain is through the exit and usually a CM is directing traffic if the line is long.
  • Haunted Mansion is mainstream line until you get near the steps then instead of going left you wait for a CM and then can use the elevator or park the wheelchair and walk on. I walk on and sometimes you are left there setting.
  • Tiki Room allows you to munch on dole whips and is a mainstream entrance but they have a little elevator for wheelchair guests on the right and the CM will help you
  • Nemo subs in the middle has the wheelchair entrance. If he cannot get down the stairs which are a spiral stairs the ask the CM for the nonmotion version which is in a room with bench seats for about 4 to 6 people and two ECV/stroller/wheelchair spots. You get to see the movie but not feel the ride, sigh.
  • Pirates is through the exit and stay to your right as you go in unless the CM says stay to the left. It is just north of the Blue Bayou.
  • Disneyland Train has a ramp on the left at all but Main Street Station, go through the exit, it will be marked.
  • Space Mountain may have a line and you will see that. The line and ride entrance for disabled is clear way back by the exit which is near the restrooms. It is a long walk back between HISTA and the game arcade. They have a sweet set up for disabled riders and no hurry.
  • Star Tours you walk on the outside of the line to the entrance and talk to the CM who will let you use the elevator which is much easier than the ramps.
  • Monorail has cab and rear cab rides just talk to a CM and hop or walk onboard, one way trips for those. Go past the line for Nemo toward the matterhorn. At some point you can touch the railing on the laggon, now turn right and go up the exit to the elevator. Park owned strollers are left downstairs unless they have a GAC "Stroller as a whelchair" All park rentals can be taken to the side of the car or cab then the person transfers. The park property is left on the loading dock. CMs or a member of your group can park it.
  • Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Dumbo, Casey Jr., Snow White, tea cups, and Alice are via the exit. Dumbo has a line to the left and is opposite sort of from the carousel. Alice is to the right of the ride. Not sure where tea cups is as me chicken. Casey Jr. is up a ramp on the left and Canal boats is on the left. Remember to stay to your right when entering through exits.
  • Jungle Cruise is on the left and there is a line up place there.
  • Treehouse you ask a CM and they will let you roll up to the interactive area at the end of the hike through.
  • Indiana Jones you go through the exit but check with a CM as I DO NOT DO that killer ride with out a week of morphine and a chiropractor lined up for daily visits.
  • Big Thunder Railroad is through the exit. When you go up the hill to the exit take the left path unless otherwise told to do so by a CM.
  • Main Street vehicles allow the guest to roll up to the ride vehicle. The streetcars and omnibus have a back area for holding wheelchairs and strollers. For rides you can ask the CM for a round trip because of the disability but normally you have to get off and back in line to ride again. Streetcars and omnibus allow a couple of guests to ride up front. Watch the streetcar as people hop on even when the streetcar is going to the barn and guests will jump on as you are slowly boarding. Every guest for themselves on the streetcars. Other vehicles have only one entrance.
  • Trams have two ways. First you stand in the front area and then toss the wheelchair onto the tram and hop on board. second is to go to the disabled loading area where you can roll onto the tram without walking.
I need my nap and to shop so this is a jumble but pretty much covers everything.

hugs
Laurie

WOAH thank you! This really helps! :thumbsup2

my little brother had to do nyc at about that age in a boot. his leg got tired from the extra weight towards the end of the day, but otherwise no prob.

mechurchlady, your awesome. cut-paste-print;) thanks!!!
DLR can be confusing for disabled guests. Some Disneyland lines like Roger Rabbit and the Bobsleds have disabled guests use the regular line. Some signage is obscure. Some like Alice in Wonderland is through the exit. I still have not found the disabled entrance to the Tea Cups, lol.

If you need anything just holler. Prior Poster is right about walking boots and casts being heavy and wearing the person down. Glad to help you out.

Thank you again for your link Laurie. I was told that my niece on her first trip to DL. that she was fine during the day. I am wondering though, how it might go for her now that she is older. She is 8 years old. She has Cerebral Palsy.

Today was a wild and crazy day like looking up to see a fire engine with in a couple feet of the side of the bus with horns and sirens and flashing lights.

I pushed a plaid up the wall and I made her very perturbed. Plaids usually are nice but she sure was getting annoyed by my questions. I explained that I help people on line by answering questions, that I know how to use the GAC and are there certain stamps available for sun, autism, and cannot wait in line.

Sun stamp lets a person use the GAC to access the wheelchair entry which can be in the shade but otherwise nothing special. I say get it and talk to the CM greeter.

She said there is an autism stamp. By that point she was going to throttle me.

For "cannot wait in line" TOUGH get a fastpass.

For the first time in a long while I mowed someone down with the scooter, well, clipped their heels. I was first in line at the middle door. A herd of bratty kids was on my left and then an older couple up close to my left side. I had to turn the ECV on as i barely got home because of failure to charge it. The brats stormed in front of me while the couple tried to wedge in between the brats and me to get in the middle door. The brats did not like the left door so they went in front of me. I start to take off and clipped the woman in the couple and do not regret it. They came in after everyone else, did not try the empty right door and walked in front of me. hrmph.

BE WARNED that the Crush show lines are not managed and people cut in line, push, shove and will do anything they can to be first in the door. Lots of room so please do not run to the front folks. Note: people who stand out and are paying attention tend to be picked as well as those who raise their hands.
"Do you like turtle soup?" Yes, someone asked that question. if you have a kid in a stroller as a wheelchair then please have the GAC handy. A lady just stood there until after being asked by a CM if it was a stroller as a wheelchair. If you want the kid down front then let the CM know but big people do not sit in the front area.

Tomorrowland terrace has great fries for Disneyland fries and gluten free buns for the bacon cheeseburger.

Playhouse Disney is a fun show. Wheelchairs along the edge and back row plus seats along the back and left side for people who cannot set on the floor. Guests may leave the line and come back like mom leaves dad while she goes potty and they allow food in the line, woot.

For the CP question check out the following link. The people in disAbilities board and help you with taking a CP person to any parks. Sue runs that board and is an expert on CP as she has an adult daughter with CP.

There is the heat, sun, walking, stress, and other things so maybe a wheelchair would be better for her. You can leave it at the rental spot or let her walk a bit then ride a bit. Energy conservation is very important to anyone who has limitations on walking. I am running around parks then after a couple of hours am hurting tired and getting grumpy. Pace yourself and if need be get a wheelchair or ECV.

I will update my list when I get my rest, long day today.

Thank you Laurie. My niece unfortunately must have her chair. For she cannot walk. Cannot talk, nor take food by mouth. Cannot go to the rest room, either. She can p quite often, too. Which I suppose is good, that way, you know that the plumbing is working. ;) :)
