Disneyland-which rides can we skip?

You guys give such good advice...Thanks again so much!:goodvibes

But I have one more question, if we start out Sunday at CA around 10am what time would you hop over to DL and what rides can I expect to ride without a FP? It will be a Sunday in June, from what I've read, DL will be very busy.

Well, you could go into DL first and just grab one FP for later. Then go over to DCA and start by grabbing a FP there, too. Do some DCA, collecting FP as you can, then when you take a midday break, send a runner to hop back over and pick up another FP for DL. (or two; Roger Rabbit is disconnected so you could pick up one of those, too, if your runner doesn't mind going all the way back to Toon Town.) (oh, yeah, don't forget, Grizz in DCA is also disconnected, so you can grab one of those whenever along with whatever other FPs you're getting in DCA).

Eh, that's just some ideas of the top of my head. That's a lot of running... but a lot of nice FPs to use later in the evening, too, if your runner doesn't mind doing the legwork! :thumbsup2 Have fun planning and I hope you have a great trip!

Avalon, if the OP was staying anywhere but the GCH, I'd agree with most of the above......but if staying at the GCH, & entering the Parks at 10ishAm Sunday, I would consider:

- Walking into the secret DCA entrance, pick up a FP at Griz. Walk over & pick up a FP at Soarin on your way over to DL.
- Enter DL pick up a FP at Indy & consider the left side before it gets too crowded (HM, Pirates, Pooh, maybe the Canoes & Pirates (Tom Sawyer) Island.
- Pick up a SM FP prior to leaving DL (& back thru DCA).
- Pick up a Screamin or ToT FP.
- Aladdin, Monsters or Crush?
- BugsLand area?
- Ride Soarin' w/ FP (or save for later).
- Ride Griz before entering for your mid day break (& check in).

Have fun. :thumbsup2

(& consider getting there EARLIER....because:

- Early Sunday is a FANTASTIC time to tour & pick up FP.
- NO (as in -0-) traffic on LA freeways between 5:30 - 7:30am on Sunday morning.
- Take a nice break Sunday afternoon when both parks are crowded.
- Return with 4-6 FPs in your pocket for evening touring.)

I agree with everything Hound wrote (I usually do -- we tour DLR very similarly). But I especially agree with this part:

Sunday morning is my FAVORITE time in DLR, especially if I have MM privileges. It will be worth the sacrifice to get up early and then take a nice swim/nap break in the afternoon at the GCH.

Okay so since some people seem upset that I said Haunted Mansion is the same...what is the difference other than the building? I like to go on both because I like the different queues of both rides- but what is the difference inside? Apparently I don't remember.

The room with the stairs is at WDW and not DL. Also there is a mausoleum at the end at WDW but not at DL. Another WDW feature is the wallpaper with the eyes.

There might be more but I haven't been to WDW since January. And I haven't been to Disneyland since December (but it was haunted mansion holiday then....so the last time I went on the regular one was last September.)

Check these out:

Original Tiki Room (hate the one at WDW)

Indiana Jones -- make sure you check this one out!!!

Pirates -- a must-do -- I cant say enough how much better it is (and you can eat inside the ride at the Blue Bayou restaurant if you make reservations there!!!)

Roger Rabbit ride in Toontown

Alice in Wonderland -- really fun little dark ride

Mr. Toad

Storybook Land Canal Boats -- really slow loading -- check out lines

Matterhorn!!!

Monsters, Inc. at CA

Grizzly River Rapids at CA

Have a fantastic time!!! You'll be amazed how many rides are packed into such a small space -- less walking for you!!!

We always stay at the GCH -- it's fantastic!!!:bitelip:

Sinners!!! Repent now.

I can't inagine not loving everything about Disneyland. But what I skip is that train ride in fantasy land, inovations, and Tom Sawyers island,. I know, I know I need to repent too.

I'm hoping that we don't have to skip anything, however I think with the short amount of time we have and the fact that we go to WDW all the time, I just want to have my A-list rides (must do's) and my B-list rides put together in case we do run out of time. My DS will be 7months so we'll be juggling back and forth to the hotel more. My DD6 is a trooper and is quite seasoned as far as long Disney days are concerned.:thumbsup2

If possible, I recommend trying to hit Fantasyland late at night. The lines tend to die down(although Peter Pan remains around 20-30 minutes) and you can cover most of Fantasyland in an hour and a half. Probably easier said than done with the little one, but it's a great way to minimize the lines in Fantasyland.

I'm a WDW vet, and I just went to DLR for the very first time last week. Here are the ones you should definitely check out:

Indiana Jones!!! It was just as amazing as I've been told and worth the wait. We went on it every night we were there.

Space Mountain. The update is incredible. I went on it 7 times and I don't even want to go on the WDW version again until they update it here.

Mr Toad's Wild Ride. I forgot how much I enjoyed this ride at WDW. Don't miss it when you're at DLR.

Pirates. Sooooo much better at DLR.

Haunted Mansion. Just because it's a classic.

Matterhorn. You won't find it anywhere else.

Nemo. You won't find the submarines anywhere else, either.

California Screamin'. It's really easy to hop over to DCA and check this one out, and it's a great coaster. I couldn't get over how easy it was to hop parks at DLR.

Tower of Terror. The drops are the same, but the 'show' in the ride are totally different.

Fantasmic. You have to stand (WDW wins on the whole seating thing), but without spoiling it, it's very different from the WDW version. Stay for the fireworks too if you can.

I'm a huge Star Wars fan, so I'm required to go on Star Tours every time I visit a Disney park, so I must recommend it.

I don't think there was any ride that I didn't like...so you'll have fun on anything. :)

I've been reading about how long the line gets at Nemo, so when do you ride it? Do you ride that first thing in the am (on a non MM day) and then go to Fantasyland? Is there any other good time to ride it?

If you have multiple days, I would do it first thing in the morning on one of them. Fantasyland can be done quite quickly if you're willing and able to hit it around 10:30 or so following the fireworks.

Went on Space Mountain at WDW for the first time this year (I was too chicken to try it as a child/teen.) I knew it wouldn't be like the one at Disneyland (which I'd been on hundreds of times in recent years.) But man was it TERRIBLE at WDW! It was painful! I thought it would be similiar to the Matterhorn but it was way more jerky. Not fun. Once was enough...haha.

Space Mountain at Disneyland I can ride a million times without being in pain...haha.
