Can someone explain to me why Disneyland only posts their calendar 45 days in advance, while Disney World can post their calendar 180 days in advance.
I cannot get a straight answer about this from Disney. Are they not the same corporation. It makes it difficult to plan.

My guess is that dining/ADRs are SO much more important and planned at WDW. DL's Priority Seating is not nearly as popular.

They are the same corporation, they are not the same operation. Each Resort is operated by different people. As for "why?" there really isn't an answer beyond, "It's just how it is done."

What are you wanting to know to make your plans?

There are a LOT of things done differently at DLR than at WDW. They really are completely different operations. As to why their schedules are posted differently, I would guess that, besides the dining reservation issues, WDW is a more complex company with the different parks, busses, so many resorts, etc. and requires a lot more advance planning to coordinate everything including staffing. DLR, being a much smaller operation, can make more short-term decisions based on attendance trends etc.

In contrast to WDW, there really is not much that needs planning at DLR.

Meals? You can do this 60 days in advance at DLR. But reservations a few days beforehand are often available.

Parks? No need to plan "which park, which day" like at WDW. WDW has Extra Magic Hours which can really drive your decision on which park to visit on a particular day. DLR does have Magic Mornings (sort of like EMH) but it does not drive crowds like at WDW. Plus, park hopping at DLR is way, way easier than at WDW because of the proximity of the parks.

Entertainment and park hours? Does not change that much year to year. See historical information on this at these links to guide you for future dates:

Time of year? That is a big one. High season vs. off season at DLR is much lumpier than WDW. Check this link for more info on chooisng time of year: "What You Should Know About Off-Season at DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=18462889

Have a great trip. :goodvibes
