I honestly don't remember having those plastic doors at WDW, especially the Studios...just seemed like there were multiple stations to scan MB and that was it. @LKing, you were just there...were there doors that opened? Maybe I just blocked that out

They were testing the new system in April when I was there...awkward but still faster than CM's. I'll have to sign in with new MK but once that's done, it's just scan the ole MB and you're in! (Still wish there weren't those plexiglass doors)

You're correct- no gates at Walt Disney World

IMO for California having actual plexiglass doors is safer/better for Cast to prevent mad rushes of guests

Thank you both! Good to know my mind isn't playing tricks on me!

I upgraded to Inspire rather than renew my Believe, wanted more options for weekends and such...so no biggie if I need new pic. I'm not arriving until midday first day so I'll have plenty of time.

And yes, @Wesley815 , I do remember the finger thing now...that's been in use a long time I think. Thank you for the visual!

Yep!! That's how it works at WDW the little round part lights up and plays sound when Magic Band is scanned

Can someone who has entered with a group (when using tickets for the first time) please clarify—do you scan all tickets (or magic bands), take all photos, and then everyone enters through the glass doors at once? That is what the directions from Disney sound like but I’m having trouble picturing how that would work. I assumed the gates would open for one person at a time.

I was trying to figure that out at first, too. I thought maybe everyone's tickets had to be linked in order for the system to recognize them as a group. But then upon rereading I realized that it could sense when several tickets had been scanned, and then wait for that number of people to have their photos taken, and that would be the group the gates would let through.

I have to say, when I was there in early April, the new gates were not working great at all. But one month later for my May trip? EASY PEASY. I have a Magic Key so I didn't need to take a picture, but the facial recognition worked super fast and everything went smoothly for both entry and parkhopping both days I was there.

Obviously, there are still going to be delays for ticket holders who have to take their pictures, but I know their handheld devices were often very glitchy/slow, so hopefully the new tech continues to work as smoothly.

I was surprised to see how it was worded there. I have extremely limited experience with this, but I can't imagine it would be anything other than one at a time.

I'm wondering if they're suggesting that each member of your party can scan in and then hang out in the space in front of the doors while the rest of the party gets scanned, then everyone can enter together with the last person. The scanning happens in front of the gate, so there's definitely space for that in the box.

However it works, I imagine that Disney have a process for keeping groups together, because I'm sure that parents would not be happy if a child ended up on the other side of the gate from them.
