Has anyone used the disneyland express bus transportation from LAX to the Grand Californian? We will be going to California for the first time in June and will be staying at GCV and wondered how efficient is the transportation? Do you need reservations? How often do they truely leave LAX? Do they stop at a bunch of other hotels first or just the Disneyland hotels? Any little tidbits of information would be helpful. We are so used to magical express and I am wondering how the Disneyland express bus compares. Thanks in advance. I looked at the disneyland boards but they only gave general information. I want to know how it really works.

You don't need ressie but I think you can get a discount if you book online with code. When you get your luggages you go to the ground transportation curb area and look for the green stop (I think it's green, someone please correct me if I'm wrong). And just wait for the Disneyland Express bus to show up. You can't miss it. it's a huge bus (just like Mears at WDW) with Disneyland Express sign all over it.

I think if you wait during regular time (9am-10pm or something) the bus comes around every 30min. But if you come in late at night it'll come around every hour.

We used it several times and it was fine. But we were only 2 adults. If you have young kids with you I don't know if that is efficient.

I was just in DL and used the Disneyland Shuttle for the first time. I was impressed with how easy the process was. I made my reservations over the phone and there were no problems. They only stop at the Disney Hotels as hte bus says "Disneyland Express" Going back to the airport for the return trip, I noticed that there were more buses for LAX then John Wayne.

BTW you will love the hotel. Don't forget to mention the DVC buttons. ALso a helpful hint: the lights in the bathroom are motion lights, but even if htey go off whil you are in there, they don't go back on even if you start make movement. How do I know, I got stuck in the tub in the dark. Not fun. Can laugh about it now but not at the time. :) Also I loved going to Storyteller's Cafe for lunch.

Does the DL Expres serve John Wayne too? We've always done the Super Shuttle. I don't know which one is cheaper, but SS does go to other hotels in the area besides the 3 DL hotels.

Thanks for the tips everyone! We are starting to get very excited! Thanks for the tip about the motion sensor lights! I would have been in the pitch black bathroom too!!!

Really?? OH NO!! I'm a big tub time person, so will be prepared for this :)
We use Super Shuttle and it has always been very efficient and not too many stops.

We too are going for the first time this June to VGC, we will arrive with a rental car, are there any companies on site that we could return it and take the shuttle? We are a little nervous to drive to LAX.

There is an Alamo Rental car place by the theater in DTD.

the Disneyland Express does go from John Wayne airport. My previous post I didn't mention that I flew into John Wayne on this trip, the cost round trip for each adult was $27. We only stopped at Grand California Hotel (as there wre only us and one other family on board and we were all going to the same hotel.)
