Disneyland Tickets to Likely Increase via Entertainment Tax

Well, I was wrong. Anaheim city council voted to cancel Disney's tax subsidies last night.

Which means what for us as the guest?

If it's a City tax, 100% goes back to Anaheim. I will pull the staff report today to take a look. if it's a new tax, it must go before the voters for approval. If it was previously approved and suspended by a previous council, then I think they can reinstate without any type of vote. What it means is that we are all going to pay more. it is possible Disney agreed not to oppose in exchange for reinstating the hotel deal.

Disney didn't really want to do the hotel deal. The hotel deal calls for a 4 diamond which is aimed more at business travelers. It sounded great on paper, but the subsidy required building to Anaheim specs, which was going to cost about $300,000-$500,000 per room. It wasn't going to be able to be accomplished on the parcel originally slated, then they moved it (I have a strange feeling Disney didn't want it period once they were moving it) and then the uproar. I think this is a better idea for Disney.

That has been my thought for a while. The terrible location, bland theming. I think they were making it a horrible idea on purpose to have a reason to cancel the plan. I just don't know why they kicked out the DTD tenants. Maybe just to make it look like they were serious?

They were definitely serious. Outside contractors were already bidding on different parts of the construction job.
